When we discovered that our nine-year-old spaniel was bleeding from her mouth, we monitored her for an hour or so to see if it subsided. After all, it was a Sunday and our regular vet wasn't open. When the bleeding continued, with it occasionally being pretty significant, I jumped on my vet's website to see what emergency clinics they recommend. Emergency Pet Care of Texas was one of two listed, and since I'd had an extremely negative experience with the one that is actually closer to me, I made the nearly 40-minute drive up to Magnolia to have her checked out. Sign in was smooth and not overly detailed (not asking a lot of what I deem as unnecessary questions). Wait time was minimal. Tech tended to her relatively quickly, and by this time much of the bleeding had subsided greatly. Still wanted her to see a vet, which she did shortly. Vet was thorough and didn't recommend any additional testing or examination because by the time she saw the vet, all bleeding had stopped. If it had not, it would have indicated something more severe: rat poison or sago palm ingestion, for example. But since that did not appear to be the case, we were instructed to watch her, keep her quiet with minimal exercise and see our regular vet the next day when they were open if the bleeding began again. I appreciate that EPCT was not overly aggressive in trying to treat what turned out to be a minor nick on her gum line that apparently caused the bleeding (mouth bleeds can be pretty traumatic initially, I was told, but they do subside within an hour or two if it's nothing serious). Other emergency vet clinics usually jump on "needed testing" which results in sometimes exorbitant charges that prove nothing at all (I'm speaking from experience). The techs and the vet calmed my fears, assessed my dog for potential dire conditions and sent us on our way. Easy to locate, ample parking, nice waiting area, friendly attendants, techs and vet experience. Charges were extremely fair. Wait time for us was short, but understand they do triage incoming cases so wait times can be extended due to severity of emergency. Definitely recommended, since they only treat emergency cases (rather than continuing, routine care of pets), so they are clearly prepped for that. While it was a drive to get here from where we live, it was worth it knowing I wouldn't need to cash in my 401(k) for my dog to be seen on a Sunday.

Each time has been as good as can be expected when you're in an emergency situation, and it's your fur baby's life on the line. This time was no different except for it was my cat, and he was on his way out. He was in very, very bad shape. He was triaged immediately. The news was not what I wanted, but as the person who has raised him for 19 years, it was a decision I had to make. My point here is the ladies that were on duty that evening were not just professional, or on point with their assessment, but went above and beyond on the empathy scale. I cannot say enough about the support that I received while I was there and I would 1000% recommend this Clinic to anyone. Everyone that helped me that evening from the front desk to the ladies in the back...I appreciate the kind words and the hugs that I received. I am more than grateful for you and giving my boy a peaceful jump out of this world

It is hard to find service the way they provided. Not only did they ease our fears and kept us calm, they took great care of our baby. I almost thought our fur baby belonged to them. You want to bring your babies here. Twenty minutes from home and I will not regret discovering this place. Although the circumstances I needed to reach them were bad, they turned it around and I'm FUREVER grateful to this clinic and staff. PS. They are not affiliated with the animal clinic in Conroe. They are one million times better! Editing to add: the next day follow up call we received was the icing on the cake. Kindness is rare! I'm glad that I found it at Willis Emergency Animal Clinic.

I truly can't tell you how long it's taken to write this without getting as disturbed and angry at what I witnessed first hand and via family members involved. A family dog ,13yr, that is extremely active and plays as hard as any other dog. Recently discovered to have diabetes, and was put under Vet script and ordered routines with great results. One day, said dog had a seizure over the weekend. Not having a way to measure glucose on hand, and knowing she usually ran high blood sugar. They were given a half doze of insulin. Which we matched with the time pasted since the previous dosage. They come to, but started to show signs of a 2nd seizure. That is when we rushed our dog to this emergency clinic. They received our dog and she crashed for a 2nd time in the back. I explained as much as I knew and explained that I pushed a measured doze of insulin in response. They tested her (Our dog was critically LOW blood sugar) and got her I.Vs quickly and everything SO FAR was a normal response as one would expect from a emergency clinic. THIS is where things get OUT OF HAND: First off, Myself and Family member involved are EMTs with higher ed. We understand exactly what was going on after the results came in. To save the detective work. We figured that Our dog was given a normal doze in the evening the day prior, but chose not to eat very much. Then was given another normal doze in the morning. Then again, must not have eat as much as we thought. Now, knowing that our dog was dealing with a high saturation of insulin. We knew that we had to stabilize her to a point to get some food in her. We are then approached by a tech with 12hr stay ($2350-ish) and 24hr ($4890-ish) stay. We have the money to do so, but knowing what is going on and needing time to dilute the insulin. We felt that it was best to do an hour by hour situation, because we knew that we just had to ride out the insulin high with fluids till we could get food in her. So we deny the recommended 12hr and 24hr stays in favor of hour by hour. SHORTLY after turning that down, the Female Vet on shift comes into the room and immediately brings up that we turned down their recommendation. I explain that we would like to do an hour by hour till we could beat the crash. She asked if we had any events or expenses coming up? After explaining said events like a My wedding coming up in 2 weeks and have other animals that need to be seen soon. She leaves. Time goes on and now the other family member has arrived. They ask to see the dog, and our dog is brought into a small room. IMMEDIATLY our dog looks at us and is excited while visibly in better condition. Family member wants to try to give food now that our dog looks well enough to try to eat small amounts of wet food, since it has been some time since the last seizure and since our dog has eaten. The female vet tells us... "When you take a diabetic to the hospital after a crash. You don't try to give food till their blood sugar is stabilized." YES YOU DO AS SOON AS THEY ARE SAFE TO EAT. WHICH IS USUALLY LONG AFTER THE LAST SEIZURE (recommended 30 mins after)!!!! We had already been there 3-4 hours... no attempt to feed her. We knew that they keep getting LOW readings due to only pushing fluids. The female vet doesn't agree and wanted to hold off. We are approached again after 4-5 hours of being there.... The female vet tells Us that she doesn't want to do hour by hour anymore. She believes that it will not make a difference with such little time and not buying for 12 hrs. We ask why COULDN'T we pay hour by hour? Then the Female vet says, "we can... but its... going to cost XYZ..." You can see the Female Vet is ANNOYED!!! THIS IS WHERE I COULDN'T BELIEVE MY EARS.... The Female Vet says, " Well I know you have a wedding coming up soon, and you have animals that need to a vet follow ups on their own, but if you aren't willing to change those or finance them...It's best that you just put her down now and save her the pain of dying at home.." WE REJECTED HER OUT RIGHT!!! We demanded to feed her!!! After this, she never comes by, and sends a tech Andrew ( VERY HELPFUL). He actually tries to feed her and LOW AND BEHOLD our dog eats like a madman small amounts. We get a MUCH IMPROVED readings 15 MINS LATER after giving food. Took our dog an hour later back to the house. Since she kept improving. I TRULY believe, if We weren't so strong-willed and knowledgeable of the event at hand. Our dog would be dead...but she is ALIVE AND DOING GREAT... I can see how people could be held emotionally hostage when someone treats you like this. Straight up, be prepare to have be emotionally blackmailed to the extreme. The female Vet, UNREQUESTED sent in her tech with a quote for another Clinic, because I had told the Vet I'm not putting my dog down over a $5 glucose bag.

Dog is needing surgical services and like any animal owner I'd like to know a range of pricing to understand where I'm going to land. Not an exact number but a nice range with a high degree of variability. That isn't the policy here. They immediately try to schedule an appt for a "consultation" and tell you you HAVE to pay a $50 deposit for this great honor, apparently. I told her before I commit to an appt I'm trying to see between them, blue pearl, and other facilities that are through our rescue network. She said verbatim "legally I cannot disclose pricing that's a conversation after you pay your deposit and have the consultation with your doctor". What? Are you kidding me? This tells me a few things, their pricing is astronomical and they try to lock you into surgery or lose your deposit. And they can't be trusted. If you have this shroud of secrecy around a range of pricing, then you aren't who I want to consider doing business with. These people have gotten too big for their britches. I'm looking elsewhere.
