Lots of different elevation changes and some great scenic holes. As per being Victoria if you get a chance to see deer on the golf course you can almost go near and pet them. Vancouver Island has an ecosystem not quite the Galapagos island, however they must not be many predators on the island as the deer seem very tame. I asked the starter how long the golf season was here and was told you can pretty much play 12 months of the year. In December and January he mentioned you may have to tee off after 10 AM before it warms up but such is life on the island. Holy shite folks. 12 months of golf in Canada? That's the joy of living on Vancouver Island. Never crazy hot in the summer and petty much no snow in winter.

Challenging enough to keep you going back and enjoyable so that you are not discouraged. I am a bad golfer, but I love playing. The scenery and holes are beautifully maintained and absolutely breathtaking. The driving range uses balls that are 8% lighter and therefore float as there is a water hazard on the driving range to practice with. They don't fly as far so don't feel you have lost something if you are hitting half your normal distance. Great experience I will be back

Best golf club in town when all factors considered. The course, while relatively flat and somewhat…read moreshort by modern standards, is immaculately maintained and conditioned to the extent, that some have compared it to Augusta. The greens are known as the best on Vancouver Island, if not BC and perhaps Canada. Indeed, many on the PGA Canada tour have said so. The design is old classic with lots of big trees, not a huge amount of water, but ample bunkering. This track is all about hitting your shots to proper locations and putting well. It will punish those who spray the ball. The club is perfectly located as well in beautiful Oak Bay basically 10 to 15 minutes drive from anywhere in Greater Victoria, or 10 minute walk for some of us lucky members. A true slice of heaven in the middle of town. The pro shop staff and grounds crew are beyond compare. True professionals who are always friendly, courteous and a joy to be around. Stoner, Clewsie, Griffballs, Haney, Danny, Filthyminge and The King, aka Mr. Yuell, are true Princes. The membership at this club is also fantastic. Great group of welcoming and friendly people from various professions and various ages enjoying a fantastic golf experience. Food is generally good at the course, though service can sometimes be spotty. Ashley, Carling, Pedro and Jerry are outstanding! Some of the others, hit and miss ... Uplands Works burger is likely the best burger I've ever had! Beyond compare. Chicken wings are usually good as is the prime rib. Breakfasts are excellent as well. There are many options to choose from on the menu and the facility is excellent. Awesome deck for summer post round cocktails and eats. Glad to be a member at this truly heavenly urban oasis! Keep up the good work Uplands GC!

Got through front 9 in about 2.5 hours but really started to slow on last couple holes. We made the turn and it turned excruciatingly slow as it took us 45 minutes to play just 2 holes (10 & 11). Had we stayed, it likely would have been well over 3 hours to finish the back 9. There was a tournament in front of us and we saw the marshall at least 3 times but there was absolutely no impact on the pace of play. It was a complete waste of $93!!! Played Sunland the day before ($69 for 18 holes and cart) and much better experience. Not as nice of a course as Dungeness but at least pace of play was manageable and was still a pretty nice course. We had a drink and snack in the bar (I think it was called Stymies) and we enjoyed ourselves. The appetizers were very good (wings and steamers) and my only advice is get extra bread with steamers as the clam broth was very, very good. Cold beer, good drinks and good view of both UofW football game and Ryder Cup golf. Stymies would actually get a much higher rating from our group but since this is a review of Dungeness GC and Stymies, the golf experience really dragged it down. Regretted paying so much and only playing 11 holes but the pace was absolutely one of the worst I've ever experienced.

They used crappy fries with lukewarm sausage country gravy (yes sausage gravy) and about 1 tbsp of cold crab. Gross. Also had the crab grilled cheese. One slice of crappy cheese not even melted a little like they did not even pretend to try to grill it. I have no idea why they are serving food like this And I think it is really rude to charge people 20 dollars per item and give them this garbage. People work hard for their money and I'm down to spend it on good food but not on this. Not only will I never go back to the crab festival but I will also never go eat at the the restaurant at the golf course which I have been wanting to try. Now I know they have terrible food and won't bother!

We're also members of an amateur haunted house building group in Southern California. All this to say we have seen a lot of great work through the years, and the craftsmanship at Haunted Manor is top tier. We loved the details and engineering. The lighting is smart to give you that creepy feeling without making you walk around in the dark. They offer a mix of traditional mini golf holes and others that are throwbacks to classic boardwalk games. The service was great and the manager was a horror film enthusiast who we enjoyed chatting with. We were wrapping up a cruise wich had a short 3 hour stop in Victoria, and stumbled on Haunted Manor as a fluke through Google maps. Glad we took the chance to spend an hour of our time here! The individual holes are a fairly small, but they're so well done, it doesn't really matter. Would love to see what they could do with a bigger location someday down the road.
