I was stressed trying to find someone who could work on my knots and relieve the pain. Yelp has always helped find a great resource in the past and this was no exception. I found Claudia here on Yelp and she was a total blessing. Her studio is comfortable and clean. I explained what my body had been going through and she quickly threw out some suggestions as she started to get to work. She found some trouble spots right away and really worked on them. It was sort of that pleasurable pain that comes with muscle tissue. As it's worked on, it can be a bit painful. However, after it is worked on, it feels 110% better. That was truly the case here. I mentioned that if she found additional spots to kneed out, to please keep going. She certainly found and kept going! Definitely longer than your usual session, but OH SO WORTH IT! Continued feeling loose and good for days after. If you're in need of some deep bodywork, give Claudia a call. You'll thank me later! Keep on Yelp'n!

Out of 100 different masseuse's, Stephie was by far the best. Her tiny hands are like a natural gua sha tool. I like my massages hard, and I didn't even have to tell her to adjust at all. She was very intuitive and knew exactly what I wanted and needed without me telling her anything. Her space was very tranquil and relaxing too. I felt like I was at a retreat. I was given a gift card to go see her for my birthday from a friend, and I would have to say that was the best birthday present I've ever received! Giving a new meaning to the term "foot massage," Barefoot Body Therapy uses the feet to rub out…read moretension and soreness. The technique, founded by Ruth Hardee is-- according to the brochure-- a "relaxing fusion of Swedish style deep tissue with the Asian influence of foot work." I was ecstatic to receive a Christmas gift certificate for a barefoot massage by Jeanie. I've known her all my life and had received wonderful hand massages from her before. I drove to Encinitas (a little late for my appointment, sorry Jeanie!) and was quickly escorted to her purple and yellow painted massage studio. It looked like the typical massage den, except for the two parallel bars over the table. After some warming up with her hands, Jeanie cat-jumps to hold on the bars and steps on my back, careful to gauge her weight (she is a professional, after all) to offer needed pressure to my tense computer chair-bound back without pushing too much. I found the greater surface area of the foot made for a better sweeping movement (effleurage?) than with hands. And when she needed to get into the nitty gritty, Jeanie would hop down from her monkey bars and knead with her hands. I left looser, less stressed and lighter-- and haven't had a sore back in weeks! I highly recommend BBT for those looking for a new massage experience. Both regulars and newbies will enjoy Jeanie's foot work.
