This little beauty of a restaurant came to the fore almost a decade ago. Now the story behind Marsh cat is an intriguing but strange one. Legend has it or the marketing people at the restaurant would have it that the spirit of a cat owned by a landlord long long ago roams free. Hmmmm fair enough at least they didn't name the restaurant after the address, like, 60 hope street!!!! Marsh cat has during its existence picked up a great reputation for quality of food. People who eat out in the Wirral know this place very well, and for those of you visiting....for whatever reason...should thus follow the local crowd indeed. Deep deep breath takingly fresh is how I'd describe the menu at this place. Mainly because I am a big fan of Glocalization....yes I did say glocal and not global. Bring all things global to the locality of your humble abode wherever it may be, and it makes me smile. Thus on the starters you will find Chicken tikka lusciously marinated in ginger, garlic, yogurt, lime juice and chilli, chompingly skewered, char grilled and served with minted yogurt dip to take off the edge. Contrastingly your neighbour is free to order the lamb kidneys au poivre, which are sauteed in all its glory avec mushrooms shallots, cracked peppercorns and cream..mmmmmm For the main course as I'm not a big fan of steak, don't do pigs, and am a sucker for fingerlickin goood chicken, Coconut chicken salsa was definitely the way forward. Sautéed with sesame oil, mint leaves, chilli, garlic ginger coriander, lime juice, spring onion and coconut milk, the ingredients created an infusion complimented by the noodles. It definitely stirred up a storm of activity inside that mouthly void I kept filling. Bosh!!!!!!!! So all you ghostbusters out there, looking for something strange in this neighbourhood. Don't waste your time looking for no ghosts, just sit back and enjoy a bite or two to eat at the Marsh cat.

Parkgate is a well known spot of local wealth and beauty; it gets incredibly busy on sunny days and is famed locally for its excellent homemade ice cream. The Marsh Cat is highly regarded as one of the most popular restaurants in Parkgate, it's always busy, the service is great and the home made food is excellent. I've eaten here a few times over the years and can highly recommend paying this restaurant a visit. It's ideal because you can take a walk along the front afterwards or even end up in one of many local pubs that line the coastal parade. I can't recommend any food in particular as I'm aware that the menu changes frequently and I haven't eaten there in a while!

I visited the Hinderton Arms on Mother's Day with my family, and unfortunately, I was served and…read moreate raw chicken. It was charred black on the outside, so I didn't notice straight away. However, after a few bites of the burger, I get into the middle and it was completely undercooked and visibly pink inside (I thought the same thing you might be thinking - clean grill, right?). And here's the best part...I became unwell afterwards. The entire experience ruined what should have been a nice evening for my mum. Not to mention, the other meals weren't exactly great either. I didn't make a scene in the restaurant, it's not my style, and I don't even like writing this review. I quietly got up, explained what had happened, and left. I followed up privately afterwards, expecting the issue to be taken seriously. Instead, I was told that "all controls which ought to have been employed to guarantee the safety of your food were being employed." Well, it was raw!... like properly raw in the middle, not slightly, it was nearly clucking so I wouldn't be so sure on that one. I was then offered a voucher I'd never use and told the matter was closed. I don't want a voucher, I wanted reassurance. Since then, I've been ignored completely. No proper apology, no explanation, and no evidence that they've done anything to ensure this doesn't happen again. I figured maybe they would compensate me for being ill, if not through an apology using words due to a fear of a legal matter, but perhaps through action, but no. Now, I'm just being ignored and they think that a voucher is enough to silence me. The way they handled this has been just as disappointing as the meal itself. I gave them every chance to make this right, but clearly, customer health and trust don't mean much to them. I wouldn't eat here again that's for sure, and I think others deserve to know what kind of response they might get "if" something goes wrong. The staff referred to me as the "raw chicken guy"... seems even they weren't shocked, so this could be a regular occurrence.

It's nestled at the start of the Chester High Road, on the long stretch between Wirral and Chester! The Hinderton Arms really do pride themselves on great homemade food! They serve a delicious range of homemade pies, great steaks and homemade soups, it's all amazing, even down to their home made garlic bread! I would thoroughly recommend a visit here as it has such a welcoming and traditional pub atmosphere that is increasingly harder to find with the amount of pub chains around! The beers and wines are great too and the staff are brilliant! Last time I went here they had a power cut and it was dark nights.. They lit the whole place with huge candles and gave us all a free drink,, Fantastic!
