This park is great In that it also is next door to the Brewer municipal pool. Very clean and well maintained. The reason for the 4 star review instead of a 5 star review is the fact that there is not a decent sized grassy area for the Kansas did to entertain themselves with a ball or something. I could've said well the pool is enough to make this 5 star, but a park/playground should always have a grassy area imho. This is however just about the perfect park in the area regardless of the rating I gave it.

A wonderful park right in Bangor City Center neighborhood that includes a playground, a full length…read morebasketball court, and a municipal swimming pool complete with zero entry, two large water slides and water sprinklers. The pool area has changed my rooms bathrooms and showers. There is a fee for residents and non residents which is $2 and $4 respectively. The pictures I took do the pool no justice as I took them in mid October so the pool was obviously dirty and hadn't been maintained since closing for the season. The playground has very new equipment and is clean and well maintained. There is a large grassy area nearby the basketball court for frisbee, running your dog or whatever you may like to do. The park is adjacent to the Mansfield Sports Complex which hosts the Senior League World Series each August. This park has it all a must visit for any parent and kids of all ages.

Excellent location near interstate 95 and very close to the Bangor Mall. It has a Very large grassy…read morearea and a half court size basketball court. Newer style playground equipment with swings, large slide and a tire swing. The equipment is slightly older than other parks in the city however and the basketball court has no lines and the hoop itself is a bit old. Other than that a wonderful place to bring kids. Perfect for walks around the perimeter(which is paved), jogging and yoga. The grassy area is large enough for soccer, football or anything in between. Even drone flying is perfect for this park.

The park has a walking…read morepath around it which is a half mile around, which makes it a great way of tracking your walks/jogs. The large field is also good to play with a group. One of the few downsides is that it can get windy at times, so playing with a frisbee is a bit of a pain, but that's Bangor for you.

I knew there was a giant Paul Bunyan statue in Bangor. I had no intention of making a special…read moretrip, but it turned it was a mile away from where we had lunch and it was generally in the direction we were traveling. If you find yourself in that situation, you may get 4 Star enjoyment out of looking at the Paul Bunyan statue. I'm no PB expert, but it seems consistent with images I've seen. Based upon quick internet research, it seems to be tied with Portland, OR for the second tallest PB statue in the US. The tallest is 49 feet and is in Klamath, CA. I've got to downgrade one star for the absence of Babe the Ox.

I visited Maine for the first time last month and spent the morning of my arrival strolling through…read morethe Bangor City Forest. I was with a friend who lives on Mount Desert Island, but since I didn't have time to go out to Acadia National Park, he settled on showing me this place. I guess you Maine folk must be used to Maine scenery, but I was completely astonished by this park. 680 acres of pristine forest, beautiful and majestic. The leaves were starting to turn, and everywhere I looked, I saw lush greenery lighting up with the warm colors of fall. We did a loop on the incredible Orono Bog Boardwalk then strolled through another network of peaceful, picturesque trails. I'm a reluctant hiker in rather pathetic physical condition, and on this particular morning, I was fresh off a redeye from California. But with the clean autumn air and the flat, easy trails, I never even ran out of breath. I think grandparents and small children could cover a lot of ground here without any trouble. I know Bangor City Forest has "City" in its name, but it made this city mouse think of how old-timey doctors would prescribe country air as a cure for various illnesses. I was sorry I only had one day in Maine. A week of nature walks would have been quite restorative.
