Honestly my favorite food spot in FL, we came from Oregon and tried this place out. Ended up coming another 2 times during our stay. We were greeted everyday by the same sweet blonde girl, and our food and drinks were always on point. Place was always clean and fairly priced. Being from NJ, it's hard to find a "real bagel" in FL. BZB is the first place I've found that I truly enjoy here. Highly recommend their egg everything with olive or veggie cream cheese! Tried these guys when another shop I have never tried stopped making bagels 2.5 hours before closing??? Selection was good and the bagels were just ok. Pretty chewy and rubbery and the did not even toast that well. As others have commented premade or thawed. In a pinch or emergency I guess a pizza shop and provide bagels for 12 hours a day since they are not "fresh" and made to order. Surly convenient from a time perspective but not that close to my Venice South area home, and not THAT good to the 16 year working in NYC and living on Long Island person!!! (wink) read more

We stopped in on the way to Brohard Paw Park + Beach to grab a quick breakfast before swimming with the dogs. There was no one else in the store, so the wait was minimal. I ordered us the original "liquid crack" iced coffee since they are just vanilla flavored and I thought that wouldn't be too sweet. They were made super quick, which was nice so I could sip while I waited for the breakfast sandwiches to be made. However, they were SO sweet that it was overpowering. We drank some of it before going into the park and then left them in the car to get a little more watered down from the ice. Someone who likes sweet coffees/drinks would love them though. For the breakfast sandwiches I ordered us each a Fifth Ave on an everything bagel with cheddar cheese. The presentation was 10/10, but the flavor was... nonexistent. It was super weird- it was the blandest bagel/sandwich we've ever had. I'm not sure if they are all like that? I am hoping not. We will continue on our search for a great bagel sandwich elsewhere during our trip. read more

I've passed this place several times but never had the time to stop. I finally got to do it today! I was a to-go order and it was relatively busy when I walked in. The staff were busy but friendly and the place was extremely clean all things considering. I ordered breakfast bagel sandwhich to go and it came out within 5 minutes. Bagel was nicely done and one of the few places in the area that offer "pork roll" as an option. I can see this being a normal stop. read more

We generally love this place but will not be going back. We just picked up bagels. I got an everything with chive cream cheese (ended up being plain). Halfway through eating it, I felt something in my mouth. It was a plastic bag clip. In my mouth. I almost choked on it. The roof of my mouth is scratched. I could throw up. Gosh. I am so naive. I never considered that they had their bagels "shipped in" from who knows where :(. At least that's what the manager on duty told me with a laugh when I called her after picking up 4 bagels today. Usually we eat our bagel sandwiches onsite. Today, we brought them home to toast and enjoy on the lanai :). Ummmm, that's when I noticed the mold. Yuck. Ugh. And all the things. Sunday morning, looks like three young teenage boys working, no manager. Ones on their phone, ones clueless as to what he's doing and the other keeps disappearing. Ones patron was waiting in line behind me and left because waited too long. I waited over 15 mins for a sandwich and when I walked in, no one was there. Just needs better employees I fear. There needs to be a more mature presence guiding these employees in order to run the business properly. On a lighter note... incredible food, best prices, good authenticity. When I walked in with my wife, we loved the bagel display, mounted on dowels projecting out from the wall. Nice. It was all downill from there. We were alarmed when the counter person asked if we wanted ours toasted. Yes, toasting does conceal most of the sins of a mediocre bagel attemp, but a good fresh bagel never needs toasting. Not every round piece of bread with a hole in the middle is an actual bagel. It may just look like a bagel. Each of us received a bagel that was very doughy, entirely bereft of the crunch on the outside, soft on the inside, texture of a real bagel. No, I am not saying it takes NYC water to bake a good bagel, I don't buy into that aburdity. But I did grow up in the Bronx (um, in NY) and am quite aware of what an authentic bagel tastes like; the skill it takes to produce it. I do not enjoy bageloid circles of chewy white bread. Some of the other reviewers made comments about this, but others thought these bagels were good. These positive reviewers just don't know what the real deal is. For them, ignorance might just be bliss. I think the baker and/or owner should stay a week in Brooklyn, Queens, or Long Island and do an internship at virtually ANY bagel joint there. Honestly, I have had very good bagels around the country; eg, in Davenport Iowa, Las Vegas, the Bay Area of CA. You don't have to go to NY to score one, but it sure is easy to get one there! One more thing. What is the rationale for disseminating half'n'half in little hard-to-open 9ml containers? The coffee had a harsh flavor, and it took me about 7 packets to make it potable. About 4 minutes to open all of 'em. If I lived in Venice, and liked the bagels at Brew Za Bagel (whatever that means), I would bring my own pint container of half'n'half, or maybe a small tool to puncture the packets. But I don't live in Venice, and the next time I have a hankering for a bagel around there, I will try the other bagel shop I drove by on the main drag, pretty close to this place. read more

Definite 5 star bagel/coffee shop. Crack iced coffee was pretty good but the breakfast sandwich put it over the top. Got the steak egg and cheese bagel and it was huge and delicious. The steak was tender and not greasy like other places, had two eggs on it plus your choice of cheese. Cashier and sandwich maker were super friendly. So my tuna had no lettuce or tomato and there was about a teaspoon of tuna and on two bagel bottoms with no top. Good Bagel shops are hard to come by, but this place has done it right! They welcome you to make changes to the sandwiches and ask if you want your bagel toasted or not. I was not a fan of the sandwich with the avocado. I think the avocado was bad so it killed the whole taste but the bagel it self was delish. We literally went here two mornings in a row while on vacation. Highly recommend that you try their homemade cream cheese! read more

Brew za bagels is a pretty convenient place to stop for breakfast. They have a pretty good assortment of bagels to choose from and a number of different cream cheeses. I might have got there during their breakfast rush on a Saturday because it did take a little while to get my bagel. I figure that means that they're definitely paying attention to my bagel and not just slamming them out like a fast food joint. I ordered the Brooklyn on an egg bagel with smokey habanero cream cheese. I would expect a little more spice am flavor out of that cream cheese, but all in all I would say it was a good breakfast and I can see myself returning. read more

However, last week I came in and I witnessed an employee on their phone, drink their coffee, sneeze, handle dishes and utensil, put on gloves and handle food, all without washing their hands. I tried to reach out to the ownership but never heard back. I do not believe I will return. Really torn on this review between 3 and 4 stars. We truly enjoyed when we went to brew burgers and figured how could we go wrong with going to Brew Za Bagels for pizza. place is very clean and a friendly staff. I gave the place 4 stars due to the thin crust pizza and how well it stood up with sauce and cheese. the crust is very thin but is firm enough that you can pick it up and it does not flop. this is of course after you eat the smaller end of the slice. only bad thing was the plastic knife and fork they provided. pizza was very hot when served, rather than burn ourselves, my wife and I decided to have the first couple of bites with knife and fork, both of our forks broke as we were attempting to eat the pizza, now we had to find the broken pieces vs eating them. We both had the fork break 3 times as we tried to eat it, this is why I was in the 3 star range. We did not try the bagels but they looked great. next time there it will be for bagels. read more

My wife and I have had a variety of delicious bagel sandwiches since it had opened and so I stopped in to get a quick bite to eat (Upper East Side bagel) before going grocery shopping . Ordered the bagel but while I was ordering I noticed that they were making a number of pizzas - for the local elementary school as it turned out - and they all smelled way too good! I just could not pass up the opportunity to purchase a 20" New York Style "Very Veggie" Pizza (Very Veggie because it was a Friday during Lent). The pizza & bagel sandwich were done and waiting when I came back from my short grocery shopping excursion. The ride home the smell of the pizza was making my mouth water... Surprised my wife with this still piping hot pizza and by the time I finished eating half of my bagel sandwich, she had ate a slice and declared it to be "the best local New York style pizza" she has had since living in Venice, Florida. On her insistence and strong recommendation I had a slice... which lead to a second - and I was already feeling satiated from the bagel sandwich! My verdict last night: Very tasty! My wife and wife ended up having leftover pizza this morning for our breakfast- and it's just as delicious as last night is our determination. We will be looking forward to trying the other pizza menu item choices soon. Perhaps as soon as later today as my wife is suggesting that we pick up another already! This is a "sister" restaurant to the Brewburgers and the Shuck N Ale. Brew Za Bagel is actually in the former Brewburgers (Venice island) location and I believe that the new Brewburgers (Venice island) location will be in the same shopping center. If you haven't tried those two in addition to Brew Za Bagel you are missing something good! read more
