Pleasantly surprised by this cute little spot. A friend spotted it on our way back to DFW from Surfside Beach and we stopped for breakfast before we he made the trek back. Had the EMS scramble and an iced coffee. The scramble was tasty and filling. The iced coffee was creamy and delicious. I walked in to the local patisserie with my sweet tooth buzzing. My eyes scanned the display case, falling upon a glossy, familiar object. An object that should not fall within the confectionary palette. An item that immediately possessed and satisfied my culinary cravings, without touching the lips. They claim Epicurus himself was fond of such a pillowy morsel of the afterlife. But this was no confection, at least not to my eyes. This was a classic case of scordopsomaphilia. An attraction, affiliation, addiction to garlic bread, that is. The damsel behind the counter took note of my interest. She knew. I pointed at the slice of my desire. "That," I muttered. "I want... that." She looked at the slice. Then at me. Then at the slice. Then back at me. She plated it. She handed it. It was mine. I took a bite. Did my eyes deceive me? Was this garlic bread? Was it even bread? I continued to chew. I swallowed. Sweet garlic bread? So much citrus? So creamy? No... I took another. And another. Could it be? Could it? But no. This must garlic bread. It needed to be garlic bread. I finished it, and it finished me. It felt me. Then I felt it. I looked at her. She was already looking at me. She knew. She knew what I was only just realizing. Walking in for the first time, it was like stepping back in time to a pre-pandemic world. Tables are close together, no one was wearing masks but the staff, and a there was a long line of maskless people inches apart. Those that had masks had them around their chin like a beard net or hanging to the side. No seating was available for two. Give it a try anyway? No thank you. Mind you, I am about the least-concerned person regarding the COVID thing and am by no means a mask nazi but what I saw there today was too crowded for a normal time, let alone a pandemic situation. No outdoor seating was available that I could see anywhere. The people all seemed happy and the place smelled great. This was the first time during the pandemic that I actually thought about a situation, assessed it, and decided not to go in a place. I've been on planes and various other high-risk situations and none of them compared to Brew-N-Bake today. I never once felt uncomfortable anywhere until today. I am glad their business is doing well when so many aren't. But be advised they aren't following any sort of social distancing or mask protocol in this place and, from what it appears, the customers seem to love it. Good for them. Such a cute place in a very busy plaza. They have some great choices regarding their expresso options, which they did a great job explaining between all of their options. There was a lively crowd an earlier Saturday morning. Fresh baked goods and free wifi. Truly, you can't ask for much more. I was visiting my daughters from out of town the other day and my youngest suggested we go here for a cup of coffee at Bake-N-Brew. She said it was her favorite place for coffee in town. I quickly learned her reasoning for her thinking. When we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. It was a little small, but had plenty of room to sit at a table and have some conversation with my kids. There were three beautiful ladies working there. One was taking orders, one was making the drinks, and the third was in the kitchen making food most of the time. They work well together with efficiency. The food looked good from what I saw. It appeared fresh and tasty. However, we had just finished eating a big lunch, so I didn't eat here. The coffee I ordered was fantastic. It was called a chupie. Four shots of espresso, steamed milk, and just a hint of vanilla. I could taste the coffee in it, but was not overly harsh with the milk and flavor. It is my idea of the perfect cup of coffee. My daughter's drinks, I am assuming, were good as well. They finished them off like nobody's business and the drinks certainly looked fabulous. My daughter earned bonus points for suggesting this place to me while I was in town with them. I can't wait to go see my daughters again...and Bake-N-Brew!!! read more

If it were just the coffee, I'd probably give Brew-n-Bake a 4/5. They're good. You can taste the coffee in every drink you order without the flavor of syrups and other ingredients overpowering it. Who would have thought this would be a problem in so many coffee shops? They have a good selection of beverages on the menu, and the baristas will make just about anything you ask for. Where B-n-B really shines though is in the area of their baked goods. If you want a slice of ridiculously good cake, don't hesitate to order here. I'm a big fan of their carrot cake. Their cheesecakes are always outstanding, especially the pumpkin cheesecake. No-No Bars, Whoopie Pies, Scones, Brownies, and a million other confections are all worth a taste. The lunch menu is very small (and not available on Saturday), but what's there is good. I usually order a turkey sandwich and tomato soup. Outstanding homemade tomato soup. Just like mom's. Solid place that we would never have discovered without Yelp. We had some business in the area & had driven down from Houston. I had a headache & needed to eat something. So we decided to pick up something to-go. The chicken salad sandwich suggested by the Barista was good. You never know what you are going to get with that kind of pick, but I needed something heavy on my stomach. The smoothie was good too, very fresh, but it started to separate as soon as we got in the car, it tasted OK, but just didn't keep the smoothie consistency long enough for me.
