I have tried the cheese & bacon burger and the lentil & goat cheese burger. Both were good but not fantastic. The decor is a bit too minimalistic for my taste. This is for sure going to be my new favourite beer spot…read more Great beer. Cool decor. Dog friendly.... I literally couldn't ask for more. Although, their bacon dusted chips don't exactly harm their rating either... I've been meaning to try this place for such a long time and I am so glad I got the chance to!! I met a fellow Yelper here (to recommend all the best choices) as well as some of her friends and I was just delighted at every step, really. Firstly, the design of this place is magic. Somehow they're cool but casual - edgy but familiar at the same time. Everything looks great and it's slick and modern, but there's a comfortable charm about the place as well which reeks of an old, local pub. It's a wonderful combination and it works effortlessly. Secondly, the beer. They have every kind of beer, at every percentage and (most helpfully) they have friendly and knowledgable staff to help you find your perfect match. They don't even correct you when you order a 'Number 1' instead of an 'N1', which shows their kindness! :P Being an utter craft beer newbie, this was a great experience and there is definitely going to be a beer here for you, regardless of your taste. Thirdly, the food!! I had bacon dusted chips. Yes, you heard me! Bacon dust. As in, 100% bacon. Made into dust. It was an odd concoction but a tasty one nonetheless and if you're in the mood for chips but don't fancy being boring this is a great option! The chips themselves were fab - crispy and perfect! Lastly, they allow dogs in here, which (for a dog lover/owner) is the cherry on top, really!! Overall, this place is a true gem. It feels like it's well run and has been well thought out. It's certainly going to be well loved by me and Bramble, that's for sue, as I guarantee I will be back to try more of their wonderful beers!!

Unfortunately, they had sold out, but the staff were able to recommend a couple of alternatives that didn't disappoint. I also got myself a Belgian cherry beer while I was here that was delicious. The wine selection is also great, and although I didn't partake on occasion, I recently went to a wine tasting evening with wines supplied by Quaff. It's certainly the knowledge of the staff that make this place stand out from your average offie. If you are looking for that perfect tipple to compliment a meal, or give as a present, this is a good place to start.

Small Batch = Big Win…read more After surviving some truly terrible hotel coffee, I was seriously jonesing for some good stuff. Enter Small Batch, which more than did the trick. As I posted up here for several hours in meetings -- I enjoyed a variety of items. Flat white, latte, Americano, Green tea. All exquisite, well crafted, and served with a smile. The loos are VERY clean and orderly, there is a lot of nice seating and the cafe is very stylish without being ridiculous. Comfortable and sleek. Woods and dark irons, smart folks behind the barrista bar and small sandwich and cake offerings. The vibe is mellow, to my knowledge there is no wifi -- so people are truly coming for the coffee and conversation. I'm on board.

You can sit outside on a sunny day or watch from inside. Either way it's a great little hub to people watch. THE STAFF ARE ALSO GREAT. *******Funny random story COMING UP****** Once in the summer a injured pigeon got stuck in my basement patio. I called a local bird rescue charity, they said if I could put it in box and bring it to them they will take care of it..... I ran all the way to small batch because I knew they'd be helpful... Low and behold they gave me a box. THEREFORE, small batch staff saved the pigeon. Ok I lied a bit.. I was too scared to get the pigeon in the box, so I called the RSPCA. The inspector came and saved the pigeon really... Or was it me? You decide! Either way... GO TO SMALL BATCH!

The Offie - what a thoughtful name for an off-license. I mean, it's what everyone calls them, but I…read morehave never seen it as the actual name before. That was a great start for me and things just got better. So it's a shop full to the brim with alcohol - one doth not protest. This however, is nothing new for an off-license, but where The Offie succeeds in not being just another off-license is the fact that they offer a great range of alcoholic beverages from all over the globe. This means that if you actually enjoy the taste of alcohol rather than simply using it for its ill-gotten gains, you are able to revel in the great selection. For me this meant Asahi the Japanese beer: not so rare, but nice to see nevertheless. My Canadian friend was very shocked to see Canadian ginger beer and lagers that he'd actually travelled all the way to London to get. And my other friend who introduced us to The Offie was there for the Lebanese beers. If you're an astute alcohol consumer, or you're missing a taste from home, check out The Offie. You might find something old, something new, something hopefully not borrowed, but maybe something blue!

Perhaps this is…read morebecause I went into the Offie, just after I had gone into Red, White, Rose, with which I was really impressed by, and so felt a bit let down by the Offie, as it is a bit more of a standard off license. The range of beer is not so far ranging and specialist, it's much more of a deal orientated place, dealing mostly with cans of the usual Strongbow, Stella , Kronenbourg triumvirate. Of course it does have more specialist beers, such as Leffe and Asahi, but these are now the types of beers you can find in your local supermarket anyway. However, to give credit to this place there was some good deals going, such as 70cl of Sambuca for £8.99 and 6 Peroni's for £6 isn't bad either. Smaller selection of Wines and spirits that you might expect for a place called The Offie, but your likely to find what you want for a house party.

I have nothing bad to say about this place, so if you're looking for a winging review, this isn't the one for you. The coffee is silky, short and perfectly roasted. You don't need a big cup to feel satisfied that you've got your fix, and the staff have a reassuring and confident presence about them that makes you feel that you're getting the best coffee in town. I had the orange and polenta cake and wasn't disappointed. Moist, citrusy and melt in the mouth, it hit every spot. Great job, I'm here regularly anyway so see you again soon!

The coffee I had was strong and flavoured like none I had ever had before - sharp, but not too bitter. Sweet, but not sickly. Perfection in a cute little white mug (with a tiny little handle). This place is cool, but still comfortable, with only a few seats dotted around the tiny interior. It's simple, but effective and very much has a modern and sophisticated feel about the place. The staff we lovely and friendly - just as I like em - and were happy for my friend and I to sit leisurely with our coffees and chat, which is nice considering their lack of seating (they could be in a hurry for a quick turnover, but they were not pushy at all!). The food looked to die for, but sadly I did not get a chance to sample any of it this time around. I'll be back to try it, and to grab myself another one of their fantastic coffees. Check it out everyone! It's worth it.

In this case, the residents of Haywards Heath are the benefactors. Grape and Grain took over the premises and offer aslightly different take on the off licence. With a well stocked deli (stocking some amazing local cheeses and pate) and a selection of chilli sauces, chutneys and other tasty bites you get more than cans of Stella or Special Brew. The ale selection at the Grape is likewise impressive with a range of local and quirky bottles that you just don't find in the chain offies. Most will have a discount on buying in three's and my biggest challenge is having to limit my purchasing to 3 bottles! I haven't purchased much wine from here, but the selection is once more of a high calibre, focusing on the wine buff rather than the bargain basement bottles. The shop also hold regular tasting sessions on the weekend and I passed an enjoyable few hours sampling the offerings of the Fallen Angel Brewery. The Grape's staff are really friendly and always up for a chat. It's the kind of shop where you end up on first name basis and can easily become one of the locals. All your other expected supplies from tobacco, mixers and such like are on sale and they will also wrap your purchases into gift packs if you want to give an alternative present to a friend. All in all, this is what a food and drink shop should be and you can tell that it is run by lovers of the finer things. Extreme top marks for the Grape and Grain!

What a fool I've been, it's great. The hot food looks delicious and fresh and is pretty reasonably priced, we only had a couple of coffees but they were SO much better than Costa's which is my usual favourite.
