I went for a med check and beins Dr legerio retired I saw April. I think she's a DO. She prescribed my meds as Dr legerio normally did every 3 months. I paid my 45.00 copay for the office visit as I usually do. 4 weeks later j get a text message saying pay this 44.00. so I called and they can't help so the give me a # to call and the lady says I owe the money, I said for what it's a standard office visit. She said no you saw a specialist. I said no I didn't I said April for a routine office visit. She yelled at me and said I have the EOB, you saw a specialist. I said no I didn't and told her I was calling my insurance company to report the fraud and she said real quick, I'll take care of this don't worry about the bill. They are over billing people and it's illegal. I reported it to my insurance company anyway. I and my family are obviously done going there. And I hope they get a huge fine for insurance fraud.

In addition to his medical expertise, he's extremely personable and has a wealth of knowledge in the arts, ecology, ornithology, ethology, politics and history. That all changed once a friend recommended Dr. Merkle. I've only seen Dr. Merkle himself a few times during visits, as I usually see his Physician's Assistants or Nurse Practitioners (either Donna or Beth), but they are always on point and extremely helpful. I never have an issue getting an appointment (even same day!), and the whole office and staff are just wonderful. I would definitely recommend Dr. Merkle and his team if you are in the market for a primary care physician.

I was in his office within 3 hrs and diagnosed with shingles. I started the meds right away. After a half hour they assured me they figured it out and my appointment was covered, I explained that if it was not covered and they couldn't tell me what this could cost I would have to cancel. I was assured it was covered and brought into the doctor. Well the assistant who informed me the doctor would not prescribe most of my meditations because I needed a neurologist for those. (I just got new insurance! I'm doimg the best I can). 45 minutes after she left Dr. Mercado came in. The doctor was cold, dismissive, and rude. Dr. Mercado never looked me in the eye not once. Told me my Lyme diagnosis was nothing to worry about since I've had it before. This was my first appointment with a new doctor because my previous doctor of 20 years is dying. I guess maybe I was spoiled having a doctor who cared and worked at an office who knew what they were doing. After this terrible experience which was confirmed to be covered by my insurance I recieved a bill for $278. Never again. I got a bill for $280.
