We have had several homes painted both inside and out and own several rental properties, so we have worked with many painting contractors over the years. Hands down, Gregory and Transformational Color are at the absolute top of any of our future painting needs. Gregory's integrity stood out immediately. Our initial walk-around consultation was in November, and instead of rushing the job in poor weather, he thoughtfully suggested waiting until spring for the best results. True to his word, he proactively followed up in April with a scheduled color meeting and a comprehensive proposal. To be honest, I originally read about his "color session" with some skepticism, thinking it was just a simple meeting to pick colors. It is so much more than that. You have to live with these decisions, so it needs to be a truly considered process. Don't pass up on the opportunity to have Gregory pick your brain about it. It will be worth it, believe me. During our color consultation, he offered fantastic expert advice. We went through several color changes prior to making our final decisions. We actually ended up adding to and modifying the plan twice--once suggested by him and once requested by me--which included changing the color of the downspouts versus the corner boards, and finally changing the rain gutter color and some major panels in the front of the home. These final touches really made the overall job pop! Gregory accommodated all of these changes with absolutely no price increase. He had one fantastic crew member who did an incredible job managing most of the prep work, pressure washing, daily clean-up, and touch-ups. Gregory was personally on-site for all the painting and in constant daily contact with me. He checked in regularly to discuss progress and brainstorm any thoughts or modifications I was considering. Instead of clean up and driving off at the end, Gregory insisted on a 100% touch-up walk-through, giving us plenty of time to live with and experience the workmanship first. The results are flawless! A bid should be detailed about the specific materials that will be used. Jason's bid included the products, number of coats of paint, expected prep work, and even the port-a-potty. Third: the job itself. Watercolors did extensive and complete prep work. They even, for an extra agreed upon (more than fair) amount, fixed some window sills with termite damage. We had him tackle a significant makeover and paint job on our 122 year old cottage. Omar's bid was a good 20% higher than #2. We chose him because of how clearly he talked the details, from paint chemistry for a salt air climate to the right way to replace those old cedar shingles. He also had a new kitchen window created from scratch to match the ones in the rest of the old house. Over the 3 - 4 week project, Omar and his crew invariably left the place immaculate, no clutter, no mess. The answer to nearly ever request was "Yes, we can do that." While they are not cheap, the tab for all of the extras we asked for was fair. And we have no doubt that the work will hold up very well. When you think about how valuable your home is, why would you not hire the best in the business to fix whatever is wrong with it? The property will appreciate, and pay you back 10X over.
