Gregory and his team are the best! He consulted and painted two interior rooms and the exterior of our house in the mountains. When we started, we didn't know what colors we wanted to use, but Gregory was there to help us throughout the entire design process, present and creative, suggesting unique details like a wood-look painting technique on closet doors and a special artsy detail on the outside of our house- a beautiful rising sun. Our home is unique and colorful in the best of ways thanks to his consultation and guidance. His team is professional and friendly. Having children around we are always concerned about having professionals in our home who are respectful and trustworthy. His painters are exactly that. If you happen to find Gregory, consider yourself lucky- he's a gem in Santa Cruz! read more

Five stars does not do Gregory justice! From our initial consultation to the final brushstroke, he provided a masterclass in professionalism and craftsmanship. If you are looking for an exceptional painter, look no further. We have had several homes painted both inside and out and own several rental properties, so we have worked with many painting contractors over the years. Hands down, Gregory and Transformational Color are at the absolute top of any of our future painting needs. Gregory's integrity stood out immediately. Our initial walk-around consultation was in November, and instead of rushing the job in poor weather, he thoughtfully suggested waiting until spring for the best results. True to his word, he proactively followed up in April with a scheduled color meeting and a comprehensive proposal. To be honest, I originally read about his "color session" with some skepticism, thinking it was just a simple meeting to pick colors. It is so much more than that. You have to live with these decisions, so it needs to be a truly considered process. Don't pass up on the opportunity to have Gregory pick your brain about it. It will be worth it, believe me. During our color consultation, he offered fantastic expert advice. We went through several color changes prior to making our final decisions. We actually ended up adding to and modifying the plan twice--once suggested by him and once requested by me--which included changing the color of the downspouts versus the corner boards, and finally changing the rain gutter color and some major panels in the front of the home. These final touches really made the overall job pop! Gregory accommodated all of these changes with absolutely no price increase. He had one fantastic crew member who did an incredible job managing most of the prep work, pressure washing, daily clean-up, and touch-ups. Gregory was personally on-site for all the painting and in constant daily contact with me. He checked in regularly to discuss progress and brainstorm any thoughts or modifications I was considering. Instead of clean up and driving off at the end, Gregory insisted on a 100% touch-up walk-through, giving us plenty of time to live with and experience the workmanship first. The results are flawless! Oh, the neighbors love it also. read more

Gregory and his crew did a great job bringing my old house back to life. It had many years of neglect and needed a lot of prep work. His team took their time with the prep, which I appreciated. Gregory was patient with my color selections and the results speak for themselves. We're finally getting compliments from the neighborhood! read more

Full disclosure: when Gregory first explained his process for picking paint colors to us, I was a bit of a skeptic. My initial thought was "I don't need a therapy session to pick paint colors, I just want some shade of blue for the house and white for the trim". ‍ But then we had our paint picking session with Gregory, and it was SO helpful. (And no it's not a "therapy session" - it's just a very thorough conversation about color options where he helps guide you to discovering what is the best color choice for you). By the end of it, we'd decided on a color I had not initially been considered (a lovely blueish teal), which I had worried would be too dark, or too similar to the home's previous color. But it wasn't too dark at all, is definitely not too similar to the color we had before, and it looks absolutely gorgeous! We couldn't be happier with the results. Gregory was wonderful to work with, and his team did an excellent job. I'd highly recommend them! read more

Gregory and his crew--Junior and Diane--did a superb job painting my 3-bedroom, 2-bath condominium in Capitola. Their communication was excellent, the pricing was fair, and the attention to detail was outstanding. The best part is that they completed the project ahead of schedule and still returned a couple of days later for minor touch-ups without hesitation. Gregory was professional, courteous, and clearly takes pride in his work. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality, reliable painting services. Thank you. Salim read more

I really did not know what color to paint my house. I wanted something colorful, not beige or white, but I didn't want something so colorful that it looked like a "clown" house. Gregory helped me pick out the main body and trim and door colors that are a beautiful shade of green with hints of blue, cream-colored trim, and teal front and back doors. The colors are bold without being obnoxious. I'm really pleased! And his workers did a great job prepping and painting the house. I couldn't be happier! Thanks Gregory! read more

My fiancé and I wanted to plan our new interior home repainting project together as we embarked on this new chapter of our lives. Gregory guided, consulted, and executed with grace and talent every step of the way. He stopped by to meet us and checked out the space when he was in the area, then we scheduled an in depth color consultation session with him. Gregory showed up right on time for the one-hour color consultation (as he did for every meeting we set afterwards). He asked all the right questions, which helped tease out what we were looking for, and patiently listened and guided us. We went from having no idea what we wanted, to uncovering a clear a vision. My fiancé and I called it a "color consult therapy session." A few days later, Gregory came back with larger samples that he painted for us based on the consultation, so we can see them in different lighting at different times of the day and evening, to double confirm it's what we wanted. We set a timeframe for Gregory and his team to come and paint the entire interior while we were out of town. They transformed the entire house, we came back to a brand new space. It was like being on one of those home makeover TV shows. Gregory continued to be available for us if we noticed anything that didn't match what we envisioned or if we had any follow up questions. I'm not exaggerating when I say this was one of the most positive experiences I've had. Transformational Color truly does transform your space and mood. We are so excited to start our new married life in this fresh space thanks to Gregory. read more

I would definitely recommend Transformational Color. Gregory showed up right on time with great communication for our initial estimate for the full exterior which was right in line with other estimates we received. He walked us through his whole process and was invaluable in helping us arrive at our color scheme. Work was fast and he worked around our difficult and unreliable window contractors to get the job done quickly and professionally. In the end he did quite a lot of work on the inside too. We couldn't be happier with our results. read more

Transformational color is all about relationship. It was clear from our first meeting with Gregory that his priority was our satisfaction. In construction trades it's rare to meet someone as tuned in a he is. The name is accurate--Gregory transformed our home, supporting bold color choices and completing a thorough exterior paint job with a responsive attitude. Our house looks amazing. Our interactions with him were always positive even during the difficult and confusing time of Covid-19. He prioritized our health and comfort. He worked to connect with us to accurately understand our questions and needs, and included us in prep and problem solving. The price was on target and our house looks like we always imagined that it should. read more

Transformational Color - Our cat is very pleased with the new paint job. He gives it 5 stars. - Painters Near Me

Transformational repainted our single-unit dwelling one year ago. I waited this long to post a review to first see how things weathered and to see if anything strange were to turn up that concerned his work. I'm happy to now assign Greg and his Transformational team a 5-Star rating for the work they did: The overall work done remains like new, and I'm particularly pleased with his diligence at the hard-to-get-at locations.,,, such as slightly below the perimeter dirt line. There are zero visible areas he missed. Greg early on worked well with my wife and me to go over what he in his professional opinion believed needed doing, pointing out--among other things--that one side of the house needed an undercoat whereas the opposite side did not. All would get pressure spraying. He said the garage door needed no repainting--I was ready to go either way on that--and he helped my wife decide on the color, of which--a year later--we remain thoroughly enamored and for which we have zero regrets. Special kudos to his two assistants who did the tedious job of scraping blistered old paint off the gazillion uprights and horizontal bar of our large deck's safety railing. I had been ready to settle for something less than their superb work there, but Greg obviously was not. Nor were the two assistants, I could see. The price we paid was fair, but one comment: Try to ascertain up front what you want, as later changes can add up. We'll be calling Greg again, when and if we decide on interior painting. read more

My wife and I were delighted with every aspect of the work of Gregory LeBaron and his crew from Transformational Color in the recent painting of the exterior of our home. Throughout the process Gregory was helpful and professional , including the difficult task of selecting colors appropriate to the style and setting of our house. In the final, analysis, the best thing that can be said in recommending Gregory is that it felt like he was treating our home as if it were his own rather than just a job... and the good news is that because he is a perfectionist, no shortcuts were taken and special attention to details were always given by him and his crew. (Actually, it was quite pleasant to see a group of well trained folks that obviously took pride in their work.). And before declaring the painting finished Gregory himself did a careful inspection, including any necessary little touch-ups to satisfy the perfectionism mentioned above... Not only are we pleased with the final results, but a number of our neighbors have gone out of their way to be complimentary as well. We are happy to recommend Transformational Painting without hesitation! read more

Gregory and his staff are FANTASTIC!!! I will not use anyone else. The are professional and accommodating and excellent at what they do.

I selected a couple of house painters for a exterior painting of a coastal property from Yelp. Gregory was the stand out. The house had rust and dry rot and thousands of rusty mail heads. Gregory and his crew did a fantastic job painting the interior of our home. It was a tough job with lots of tall walls and louvered doors and they handled it no problem at a very fair price. The crew was quick, neat, and just all around nice people. They finished the job while we were out of town and even kept an eye on our dog for us! Gregory and his team did a fantastic job painting the inside of our townhouse. They were detail-oriented; used high-quality paint; were responsive to any and all concerns; and were super flexible about working around us when were home. We'd use Gregory again without hesitation and definitely would recommend him to anyone else. read more

After seeing all the rave reviews, it seems almost pointless to add another, but... I've had a few houses painted over the years (exterior) and have dealt with many contractors. Gregory and his crew exceed all the others in every category. Gregory was extremely helpful in guiding us the correct colors; his crew is professional and polite; there is no mess during or after the job; their painting is impeccable. Gregory suggested that we paint the eves (on a two story house), which had been left a natural wood finish. So, we had them painted and are very happy with the much cleaner look. Gregory and I did not discuss the natural wood ceiling in the exterior entry way which was badly faded. When his lead painter showed up on painting day #1, he noticed it and suggested that he touch up the stain and refinish it - which he did as part of the job and it looks fabulous. So, two thumbs up, 5 stars at least, and hire this guy if you need painting done. You will not regret it. read more

I enthusiastically recommend Transformational Color. They painted the exterior of our home and some outbuildings, and I can't imagine how the job could have gone more smoothly or more comfortably. The results are excellent. Gregory had infinite patience for discussing color ideas with us, always pleasant and never rushed. We're very happy with the final color selection. The crew were friendly, professional, and considerate. They kept the disruption to a minimum, and at the end of the job picked up after themselves thoroughly. They did a very thorough job, sanding and priming where the sun had blasted through the old paint. The work was completed on budget and on schedule, despite the schedule being complicated by the need to interleave this painting job with gutter work and roof work being done by a different crew. read more

Gregory and his team did a stellar job prepping and painting the outside of our larger house. And, we also had major about of decking that was stained too. They came when they said, cleaned up each day and were just extremely pleasant throughout the process. Gregory is a color master! He made drab walls come alive with color, creating a whole new ambiance to my beach condo. Not only that, he finished the job, which required a lot of work prepping the old paint surface, in a few days and left the place virtually spotless, cleaner than he found it--an truly remarkable thing. He put the furniture and decor back in place and even some in better places. Gregory has a fantastic eye for interior decorating as well as color. My husband and I had Gregory help us select full house interior colors for our new West side house. He did a great job guiding us through the process and we ended up with colors that we are thrilled with. He was interested in knowing what we want out our new house, etc... which was a great process. He guided us through conversations that explored our agreements/disagreements around color and was not afraid to challenge either of us on some of our notions. This resulted in us going places I would never have predicted with color... I'm thrilled with the outcome and have an absolutely amazing new interior that we move into tomorrow! Highly recommend him and would be happy to answer any questions about our experience with him. great service! read more

We hired Gregory to put American Clay in our main room. After quoting us a price, I realized I could do more than expected. Then I asked if I could help with the first layer. We ended up doing most the house in American Clay, with Gregory mentoring and working. Now we live in a house that has been transformed into a thing of beauty. Even when we got grouchy(it's hard work) he remained professional and encouraging. Either way, Gregory doing it himself, or you working with him you will be very pleased. Five stars easy. Transformational color is exactly what happened when I entered my repainted room! Gregory was very easy to work with through the painting process and the final result is beautiful! My white wood paneled ceiling was made to resemble white washed wood - worm holes included. The realism of the wood is incredible, I cannot decide what I enjoy more, the stria red walls or the white washed wood effect. And somehow Gregory made red walls soothing, not to distract the eye from the gorgeous window view.
