The Irish beers are excellent draught, of course, and the food is reasonably priced and well made. The most memorable thing is the atmosphere -- I felt good staying at the place that is spacey enough to accomodate larger crowds without leaving you with a desire to go outside to get some fresh air. If you're in the area, a decent place to eat, and a great place to have that early afternoon pint.

There's just a big of an outdoor eating area, admiring the countryside. Inside there are a few different dining rooms, and we ate in the more pub like atmosphere. I had a sandwich and some soup. There was a small child there with his mother eating their lunch, and he continuously smiled at me. He and his mother spoke to us about their plans for the day. This is where I was given the recipe to make Banoffee pie from our waitress.

I had a very chunky and very tasty fish chowder to start which, to be honest, with some brown bread would have been more than adequate as a lunch on its own. Plenty of fish pieces in a creamy broth was a great antidote to a miserable day outside. For main, I had a burger and, even though the chowder was plenty, I soldiered through and glad I was too. The double deck burger was excellent, perfectly cooked in a brioche bun. The accompanying fries were excellent, or, at least those I had were, as my companion insisted on swiping them to go with her prawns. After a quick look on the menu we both opted for the Croque Monsieur with fries. The service at this point was very efficient. Our lunch was served and looked amazing, served on little wooden boards with the fries in small tin buckets. A few bites in, I noticed how greasy the bread was - really disappointing as everything else was perfect! Ham was beautiful and the cheese was creamy and delightful! Following lunch we fancied a coffee and a cake. So we waited to order. And we waited, and waited and waited. Finally after 20 minutes we just got up, paid and left. In fairness they were all glued to the match, but not great when a paying customer feels like they're bothering you! I do adore Fallons though, so will make sure there is no football scheduled next time I pop in!
