Quite an interesting first (and only meeting) with Ms. Boldrey. My wife and I each attended separate sessions for marriage counseling. During my session, I gave a full account of my frustrations with my wife. After each topic, Ms. Boldrey asked me why I want to be married to my wife. I ignored these snide comments until finally commenting to her that she sounds more like a divorce counselor than a marriage counselor. Her response, "You're not giving me a lot to work with."
Counseling isn't supposed to be easy, that's why it takes time and effort on everyone's part to make it successful. I asked Ms. Boldrey if she wasn't up to the challenge. She made the comment that she is "a high-quality counselor and very good." Okay, then let's work with that, I thought.
Out of the blue she asked about my sex life. What? How about intimacy? Intimacy is more important in a marriage than sex. You won't find a professional counselor who would disagree with that logic.
Even after scheduling a follow up appt. with Ms. Boldrey, she texted my wife and me to tell us that "I find us not to be the best fit for what you are looking for in therapy."
My take on all this; Ms. Boldrey only wants the easy cases, nothing that will make her have to think or work hard. So, in hindsight, I think we dodged a bullet here as it would have been a lot of wasted time and money should we have proceeded with her. read more
