That didn't go over well. When we would try to teach him or tell him to fix a letter, etc, he would flip out, get angry, break his pencil in frustration. There was no way to get through to him. We didn't know what to do or where to go. As parents we were lost and frustrated. Enter GradePower. We were told about GradePower through a friend. We immediately scheduled a consultation with Gordon. Let me tell you Gordon is super nice, understanding, and knowledgeable. He listens and answer all your questions. Also, Gordon understands kids that struggle with learning or need help, as he was in their shoes once. Nick is also an amazing person, I swear they have the nicest, calmest, most understandable people working here. Our son is thriving we see it in his work. We see it in his confidence. We will be sending our daughter here once she gets into the higher grades. Oh and they are on top of everything. We have scheduled check-ins with Gordon and or Nick who give us feedback on how are son is doing, showing us his work, showing us his growth but also telling us what he needs to work on. GradePower has given us hope when we were hopeless. Investing in your child's future starts with GradePower. Thank you GradePower, we love you!

I have one week left in my Beginning 1A French class with Freestyle Languages and feel like I've already learned more than I did in all of high school. I am able to talk about myself, the weather, what I like and don't like to eat, the sports I play, my hobbies - how cool is that? My ultimately dream of becoming fluent in French and moving to Paris doesn't seem out of reach anymore. If you're wanting to learn another language, I HIGHLY recommend Freestyle Languages.

I had a pretty large vocabulary but really wanted to improve my speaking and understanding of different tenses. I've gotten both of those things and a lot more. We're about halfway through the semester and I'm already sad at the thought of it being over!! My teacher, Gloria, is patient and encouraging, and I really like the other students. My speaking has gotten a LOT better and more colloquial. The classes are held twice a week with an optional practice "café" on Saturdays. Every week is focused on a different theme: food, giving directions, etc. The classes are on Zoom, which means there is the occasional technical glitch, but mostly they run smoothly. The only drawback is that it's clear some of the fun events they now have to hold virtually, like movie screenings and happy hour, just aren't the same online. But I'm glad I get to attend them at all, because I couldn't if they were held in person. It's been a lot of fun and I look forward to every class and conversation.

Below is my daughter's personal review verbatim: "I had a great time at the Minecraft camp. I liked that we got to use a mod a lot more interesting. Working in teams was a great way to complete goals and create new friendships. Having some time off the computers was good so you could take your eyes off the screen. It was really nice to get to build with my new friends and laugh at all our mistakes and be proud when we finally completed something. We not only just got to work on our daily goals but when finished we could play hunger games which is a ton of good fun. There was nothing that I really disliked about the camp. I would suggest that next year they do a different mod than this year to make it more challenging, and maybe giving more goals for creating buildings cause I felt that we were mostly creating items and not really that many buildings. I thought the camp was a lot of fun as well as educational."

Alexa was meticulous in digging through my current resume and helping me find ways to make it stronger. She also provided great pointers and an outline for a stronger cover letter. Plus, a big part of her approach is setting up informational interviews with people in companies, industries and roles you're interested in and she graciously provided introductions to people in her own network. With my new resume I was able to land an interview at my next dream job, and once I finally landed an offer, I scheduled additional time with her to gather pointers on how to negotiate. I've been at my new job for almost two months now and could not be happier that I had Alexa's help to get me here. They are trying to scam you into several thousand dollars to get all the independence you need, but keep reading. You will regret paying an outrageous amount of money. Don't stop reading this review because this will "rethink" your decision to apply to College Living Experience. Their staff is so disrespectful, dishonest, and rude. Like, I'm NOT kidding. They don't have the proper certification to take with individuals that have intellectual disabilities, and their budgeting class that Chris Sheppard is teaching is a joke. His LinkedIn specifies that he's not a major in budgeting, and his major is sociology. Look at the pictures. It says right on there that he's a sociology major. He should be a social coach, NOT budgeting. Chris was so mean and disrespectful when I had him for budgeting class. Every time I saw him, I wanted to run away from him. He said when I forgot my mask, I asked him, "should I wear a mask since I forgot?" He said, "I can't make you wear a mask like you are lying." Like, why would I lie about this?! Does he think I'm not adequately educated?! Also, Jennifer Golden is not a good social coach at all. I'm super disappointed that I didn't NOT get the help that I needed. She cursed at me when we had sessions together and felt very violated and disrespected. This is not how they should do business, which is NOT okay. In all honesty, go to Austin Community College and see Samantha Thomson, the Success Coach. She is way better than the people at CLE. They are honestly ripping you off. Samantha Thomson is a better success coach and is CERTIFIED with individuals with intellectual disabilities. She has a master which proves that she wants to work in the field. The company must be strict about getting certified to work since they are all intern practicum students. STAY AWAY FROM COLLEGE LIVING EXPERIENCE and find some resources at Austin Community College. They are a lot better and hands-on. DON'T SIGN UP at CLE; you will regret your decision.
