What a charming, lovely boutique gift store…read more As I walk up to the storefront while being in town for the Keeneland Spring Meet, I know this retail gem is going to be special. The large white ceramic horse and lovely bright flowers strewn across the front door are an instant giveaway to what is inside, not to mention one hell of a welcome to Ada & Lo. I am instantly reminded of the sit com "Designing Women" pretty much instantly. From the owners (what a nice couple!) and the staff and friends in the store, I am instantly made to feel like family through friendly conversation and laughter, suggestions on new product and a non-pressuring ease to walk throughout the store. This store is loaded with cute things to by for self or others....or self....or self. Earrings with big glitz that I can wear them in Vegas. Derby/horse themed housewares and hats. Functional handbags/clutches. KU items. Pet gifts. Childrens items. And not just lots of things to buy for self or others....or self....or self..... the store is large, well lit, well laid out and easy to navigate around. On the day of my visit, I walked out with two pairs of earrings and a small clear round bag with a black/white patterned strap that I am absolutely planning on bringing to Raiders Games in Vegas because it is stadium compliant, not to mention simply darling. An easy drive to be found on the south side of Lexington and a bit out of the blue amongst the strip mall in which it sits, but a worthy store to pop in and purchase gifts for self or others....or self...or self...if you find yourself in Lexington as I did.

The selection is honeslty a bit difficult to describe but truly contained such a variety of items, from specialty origami papers to fun matchboxes, decor, and various trinkets. Sqecial Media is a popular store located right off U.K. campus. First, you must call to set up an appointment to shop. The store is small so they only allow a certain amount of people inside. They have different hours as well. Upon entering, they require a face mask and hand sanitizer before browsing the store. The location is literally right off campus. Parking can be annoying in this area. There is street parking in front or a small parking lot behind the store. Keep this in mind when visiting. There are a couple of other businesses located in the same building: a Korean restaurant (delicious) and a music store downstairs. If you're looking for a fun and unique store, definitely visit!

They had everything in this gift shop from University of KY shirts, stuffies, to KY shirts, to snacks, and toys. I found a small portion of the store that had several different horses for purchase. After looking them over, I went with a brown and white horse. Was it over priced? Yes, $15 for a stuffed animals seems a bit pricey, but I'm also at their whim after waiting until the day I left to grab my kiddo something. Checkout was a breeze, the woman who rang my purchase up was lovely.

Like any used book store, you never know what you will find. Most of the books are obtained through donations, and some are from discarded library books. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. I have asked them to be on the lookout for a couple of authors or books. Some they have found, while some have been shelved by other staff. All in all, they do a great job. They are very friendly. There are a massive amount of 50 cent paperback novels. It's located in the basement of the Main Street Public Library.

I told the guy…read morerunning the store that over the phone before coming out there, told him I was looking to get back into my old hobby again. He said he would help me put a deck together. I got there with somewhat of an idea of what I wanted but even 50% sure entirely because I haven't done much research. I wanted to lean on someone that knew what they were doing. We pulled a mono white and mono red deck. He didn't have exactly everything for either, which is ok. But I still wasn't 100%. I asked him if I could sit down and research some decks. Her said sure. I finally found a deck I thought I would enjoy and asked him if he had the cards. He then told me, "I've already pulled two decks for you, if I pull this one can you please purchase it". He pulls what he had and then I paid. I then asked for 4 more cards to add to the deck and he said, "Yeah but this is it because I got other customers". There was one other guy in the store and wasn't in a hurry. And he only came in at the end of the third deck Pull so it's not like he was waiting a long time. He later admitted to being frustrated but then told me there was no refunds. So I'm now out 200$ because that experience just turned me off of getting back into playing magic.
