I was looking for a place to grab a few things to bring home for friends and family and I came across this spot as I was in the area! Tucked away in a little plaza is this gem and they have a large variety of baked goods and homemade items to choose from. They have breads, bakery, packaged foods/items, and hot lunch foods as well. They also have homemade dog treats which I really enjoyed. With this being my first time, the lady behind the counter was so lovely and helped me pick out a few different items to try as well as informing me of what all the baked goods were. I ended up getting the breakfast danish, an apricot danish, and a cinnamon glazed twirl stick. The bakery danish was interesting as it had a hard boiled egg inside of it and was topped with cheese and bacon. It was delish and it was nice to see something unique as a breakfast option. I felt the cinnamon twist was a bit dry but that could just be the type of bakery item it is. The apricot danish was nice, not sure if their filling is homemade or not but it tasted like most apricot fillings I have had. The bakery was tasty, I would not say I would go out of my way for any of the things that I tried but if I was in the area again I would definitely peak in to see what they have in the case for the day. Regardless, it is a cute place with lots of charm and you can tell the owners and staff genuinely care about their customers. This place has delicious treats and always fresh. Only complaint is that it is very small j side and they insist on setting up tables that limits to the walk in. It's annoying and frustrating and if they are busy there is a line out the door because you literally cannot move inside due to the tables. Best option- go very early in AM or late in afternoon. Downside to both options is selection. Or just go and take your patience. read more

Very disappointed Ordered a cassata cake for a birthday party and I told my husband to make sure he speaks to the owner but he did not want to bother the owner. So, I told him to let the person taking the order know we do not want only jam in between the layers like our past experience and they told him "Oh, we don't do them like that." Yet, this is the 2nd time the Cassata cake came out very disappointing. Two layers of cake with strawberry jam that had little slivers of mashed up preserved strawberries that the owner called their sauce and none of the real sliced up strawberries. There was also some kind of butter cream under the jam. No one could tell what it was, it did not taste or look like custard. The icing on the cake is made of that heavy butter cream and not the light whipped kind. Could have bought this kind of cake from a grocery store. When I picked up the cake I told the person at the counter that I hope it was not like a prior incident with just jam in the cake and they told me to call if it was but when I called and told Janet who answered the call, she asked me, "So, did you eat the cake?" She was more concerned about a possible refund more than a customer who was disappointed about the quality of their product. It was 9pm, we were celebrating a birthday, are we going to find another bakery who makes cassata cakes on Saturday at 9pm? Janet was dismissive and did not try to be understanding. Because she treated me like I was out to scam them out of a cake, I told her I had pictures and she said you need pictures if you want a refund. And all this time I never mentioned anything about a refund. There must be a lot of scammers out there for storekeepers to be like this. Called the owner and he sounded concerned and asked me if I wanted a refund or for him to bake another cake. I told him I am not interested in either. The way I was spoken to already made me feel like I was trying to get a free cake. One of the pictures I have attached, the chocolate cake, was the cassata cake I got and the other pic of the yellow cake with the real sliced up strawberries is a stock photo for comparison. I have gotten Cassata cakes with 2 layers of strawberries so this stock photo is but a representation of a mediocre cake but look at the one I got. I will not be back to this bakery and I warned my husband never to get cakes from here anymore. He said the owner is a really nice guy. I told him to go deer hunting with him then, but, when we want real Cassata cakes we need to go to an Italian bakery. read more

Bob the baker was great to work with and the cake was delicious. Our rating would have been 5 stars, except the cake was slightly crooked. I have to say that Breads & Beyond in my opinion only makes 3 really good items here. 1st would be the pizza when you just want a slice, 2nd the brownies and 3rd is the big chocolate chip cookies. The Chocolate Chip Cookies are seriously one of the best I've ever had & I am beyond picky when it comes to cookies. I refuse to spend anything outside of those 3 things. Mainly though I really only go to buy the Chocolate Chip Cookies. Everything else just looks blah to me. Awful awful awful. I just went in to buy some Christmas cookies. I got a whole big shpiel about how they aren't taking any more orders and what they have is all they have. There were just 2 5-lb trays left. Way more cookies than I needed and way more than I wanted to spend, but I seemed to remember getting cookies from there just a year or two ago, and they were excellent, so I said, what the heck? Today is just December 19, and they are done with baking Christmas cookies for the year, or so they said. I am here to tell you that they are the soggiest, blandest cookies I have ever eaten. I can't imagine anyone thinks these are good cookies. They are not even decorated nicely. I could taste flour. They have no flavors at all, just flour. I'm sick at heart that I bought these awful soggy messes. I plan to take them to a church or homeless shelter, but I wouldn't want to subject them to this crap. If anyone wants to take them off my hands, have at it, but don't say I didn't warn you. I am very serious about this review--stay away from this place if you know what's good for you. read more

It's clear the decent reviews were done by employees or owners of the bakery. I'm sure this place is great for a bagel or a muffin but as far as wedding cakes go, I'd stick with a real bakery. My friend ordered her wedding cake from here. It was a 2 tiered casada cake with strawberries on top and gracefully cascading down the side. What we received was completely different. She was charged an additional $30 for fresh strawberries, however everyone knows fresh strawberries don't melt. When we picked the cake up the woman working there even said she had taken it out of the freezer a while ago which obviously gave it time to thaw. By the time we got the cake to the reception hall (a mere 20 minute drive) the strawberries were leaking red all over the cake, they were falling down the side. It was horrendous. Being the maid of honor I did what I could to salvage the cake, however it was still something that didn't deserve display. It was embarrassing. When my friend confronted Bob the baker he simply said that the cake melted in the car. Melted in the car? Why in life would you ever freeze it knowing there were "fresh" strawberries on it? Obviously it's summer but the cake was in front of the air conditioner the entire 20 minute drive. The strawberries were already falling off in the store when we picked it up. A simple refund, hell even a sliver of sympathy would have made this experience a little better. If you're looking for anything past the simple giant eagle yellow sheet cake, I'd seek out real professionals. read more
