And thank goodness we did- that s'mores bar HIT RIGHT. I will say that none of us intentionally eat allergen-friendly products and it was clear that the texture and taste were a bit different due to them being vegan BUT we still very much enjoyed them. They're super dense and rich so we got full fairly quickly, but that just meant we got to save some for day two. I tried both the brookie and the s'mores bar and the s'mores was my preferred!

We ordered two large coffees, two ham, egg, and cheese open-faced croissants, and a blueberry scone. I wasn't used to having a breakfast sandwich served open-faced, but I'm officially a fan now. The croissant was flaky, buttery, and paired perfectly with the ham, egg, and cheese. Every bite was delicious. The coffee was exactly what we needed to start the morning, and everything together made for a fantastic breakfast. If you're looking for a cozy spot with fresh pastries, great coffee, and a relaxing way to start your weekend, this is definitely worth a visit.

Tom Terrific here with another honest review…read more I could not get waited on at the Birchwood Canopy so I searched for a place to eat elsewhere. I came up Cassis Market advertising pizza so I popped in and ordered on with pepperoni, sausage and ham. One slice came to nearly $7. The man behind the counter was polite but uninterested. He looked like he wished he could be anywhere but there. I took my pizza out to eat at their outside table. I took a bite. Man was it stiff. And that was at the point where it's usually the best part. I kept eating and crunching. No moisture at all. Some flavor but not enough to justify the cost or enduring the hardness. The ham was hard. The pepperoni was all curled up and looked overcooked. The sausage was just OK. I was hungry but I left half of it and threw it in the trash. It sat in my stomach like I had swallowed an anvil. Now I must say I selected this from a whole pizza in the display case. It was not a piece that had been lingering there for a long time. My slice was the first slice from the pie so I was taken aback by it's texture and hardness. Cassis Market - NOT recommended.

My husband and I absolutely loved Bakery 1908! It's such a fun experience from the minute you walk…read morein. You grab a tray and a pair of tongs and make your way through the bakery, with separate glass display cases for the sweet and savory pastries. You just pick whatever looks good -- which is dangerous because everything looks good! First of all, the prices are fantastic. Most of the buns are under $4. My absolute favorite was the ham and cheese bun. The bun is slightly sweet and the ham and cheese are savory, and the combination is SO good. The blueberry bun was another favorite -- it almost had a blueberry cheesecake flavor. We also tried the curry bun, which was delicious. We ordered several of the hot items too. The har gow (shrimp dumplings) were outstanding. They have a delicate steamed wrapper filled with plump, juicy shrimp, and these were honestly some of the best I've ever had. I've eaten in multiple restaurants in Chinatown in both Los Angeles and San Francisco, so that's saying a lot! The Shanghai dumplings, which are little soup dumplings filled with meat and broth, were also delicious. We also tried the steamed pork ribs. The flavor was very good, but steamed pork has a different appearance and there were some fatty pieces. I'm glad we tried them, but they're probably the one thing I wouldn't order again. Another huge plus was the pricing on the hot food -- every hot entrée we looked at was under $10. Between the two of us, we ordered seven different things, couldn't even finish everything, and our entire check was only $46. Great quality, great variety, and an incredible value. I will definitely be back. I was going to say I wish there were one closer to us...but maybe it's a good thing there isn't, because I would probably eat those ham and cheese buns every day! Five stars!

Extremely disappointing customer service, especially from the manager…read more I placed an order for two milk tea drinks at 1:24 PM. While waiting, I watched another customer receive her drinks even though I was already ahead of her by approximately four customers in line. At 1:32 PM, I approached the gentleman at the counter to ask about my order. He did not greet me or acknowledge me. He looked at my receipt, looked at his watch, and dismissively said, "It's not even 10 minutes." He then asked me, "What do you want to do?" When I asked what he meant, he told me I could either wait or get my money back. He checked in the back and came back telling me it would be another five minutes. I agreed to wait. Five minutes later, instead of simply addressing the delay or apologizing, he told me I could grab a bun while I waited. I explained that I already had a bun and that, considering the inconvenience and the way the situation was handled, I felt a discount would have been an appropriate gesture. Instead, he offered to refund my money and gave me another receipt without the drinks. The most disappointing part was Norman, the manager. At no point did he apologize, acknowledge the inconvenience, or make any genuine effort to resolve the situation professionally. As a manager, I expected him to step in, listen to the customer, and demonstrate some level of courtesy and accountability. Instead, his attitude left me with the very clear impression that he simply did not care whether he had my business or not. I completely understand that a bakery can get busy and that orders can sometimes take longer than expected. The issue wasn't simply the wait--it was the attitude and the complete lack of customer service. A simple apology and a professional response could have completely changed the experience. Unfortunately, I left feeling dismissed and unappreciated as a customer. Management should understand that customers remember how they are treated, especially when something goes wrong. I will not be returning, and I hope the owners take this feedback seriously and address how customers are being treated by management.

I made the mistake of going to Mazzaro's on a Saturday afternoon. I didn't realize they closed at…read more2:30 p.m., and that is 100% my fault. I arrived around 2:20 p.m. and was let in by a worker at the front door, who told me they were closing shortly and suggested I head to the deli first if that was what I wanted. Once I walked in, however, a cashier yelled to me that they were closed. I was a little confused because I had just been let in by a worker who knew I was coming inside. From there, the experience felt a bit chaotic. There were quite a few people in the store, and I felt like the workers were very displeased by my presence. I honestly felt like I was a bother. I completely understand that I arrived close to closing, so I tried to be respectful of their time and rushed through the store to grab a few items. I had driven an hour to get there, so I wanted to at least make the most of the trip. When I went to check out, I initially got in one line, and the cashier was finishing up with the customer already there and directed me to another line, so I followed her instructions. I had a basket with my items and wasn't sure if I was supposed to empty it myself. There wasn't an obvious place to leave the empty basket, and the cashier never indicated that she would take it from me. I apologized and explained that it was my first time there. She told me that next time I should come during the week so I could browse more. As I was leaving, I noticed so many people trying to enter the store and being turned away because it was now past closing. That made me think Mazzaro's may want to reconsider its Saturday hours. They are clearly a very popular and well-known store, yet being open from only 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and being closed on Sundays makes it difficult for people who work typical Monday-Friday, full-time hours to visit. I take responsibility for not checking the hours before making the drive, and I understand that the employees were probably ready to go home. However, I still think there is a difference between enforcing closing time and making a customer feel unwelcome. Unfortunately, I did not feel warmly greeted or welcomed during my visit, and it put a damper on the entire experience.

To start, Maddie's Cakes indicated that it opened at 5pm, leading us to believe that it serviced the late-night coffee-and-pastries crowd. Baked in the Burg opens at 10am and closes at 7pm, and has a very different vibe than what we were expecting. The pastries are definitely meant to be the star of the show, but they were mislabeled (labeled as chocolate pistachio but only chocolate was available), and the baristas knew very little about the product. Speaking of the baristas, although they were very friendly, they clearly were woefully lacking in training. I ordered a chai tea, and one of the baristas asked the other, "Do you know how to make that?" Additionally, my mom ordered a coffee, and when she asked if the brew coffee sitting on the hot plate was fresh, the barista answered, "It was made this morning [seven hours prior to our visit], but it's been on the hot plate." My mom had to ask for a fresh pot to be made, because apparently no one told these poor girls how disgusting coffee is after seven hours on a hot plate. To their credit, though, they were extremely friendly and accommodating, and did their best to answer all of our questions. I just think they need more training. As far as the pastries are concerned, we were so disappointed that we ended up going to Sorrento Sweets right up the street.
