I just discovered this place like 15 minutes ago. I usually shy away from Vietnamese or Thai or any oriental cuisine that uses a lot spices, veggies, and what-have-you. They taste complicated, methinks. This probably why I love pizza the most. It's just bread plus cheese plus sauce plus more cheese. Everything else is optional. But I'm not here to talk about pizza!
It's been three weeks since I moved in and I haven't eaten a single meal outside my apartment (date nights and working lunches don't count) so I tried Bread and Bakers. I thought it was just some bakery but noooo, they serve (and are actually quite known, at least in Puerto Princesa) for serving Vietnamese food.
I had their Beef Stew which, according to them, is best paired with Banhi Mi. What's Banh Mi, you ask? It's a crusty French-style bun filled all sorts of Vietnamese flavors. It's good but I had to take out all the cucumber...and lettuce...and onion...basically everything except the beef. What can I say, I'm not a grass-eater! But the Beef Stew is awesomesauce! So glad I went out of my comfort zone/apartment! read more
