This review is all about Braun's lobster roll, which is a home run in every way. I've sampled just about every lobster roll on the North Fork and none of them have the amount of incredibly fresh and flavorful lobster meat found in Braun's rolls. They are not overly seasoned or prepared with excessive mayo/filler like many others. I'm not a big French fry guy, but it's worth mentioning that the fries that came with the roll were surprisingly good. Braun's lobster rolls are not inexpensive, but for what you get in terms of quality and quantity, they are well worth it! read more

Very surprised they do not put their fish on ice...just in metal pans refrigerated. There are so many times I have bougjt supposively local fresh fish ftom here and then get home and it smells ridiculously fishy....that's not fresh...school lesson fish that hangs around to long develops bacteria and hence the smell. If it smells don't buy it. Also there prices are high. Sorry guys Southold Fish Market for me for now on...fish is better and prices more reasonable. read more

This is out go to place for seafood in Cutchogue. They closed during Covid and reopened with a more upscale menu under a new name Brauns Kitchen. Under the appetizers we had the tacos which consisted of 4 tacos with grilled white fish with guacamole and veggies. This was a generous serving which is enough for a meal! I tried the scallops with white bean ragu and Swiss chard. The scallops and the white bean ragu was delicious but the chard was a little under cooked for my taste. The perfect place to go for lunch while you are out in North Fork! They offer outdoor dinning under a tent with picnic tables. Definitely get the fish and chips...the portion was generous. Before the beginning of the pandemic, this place was my go to. However, this time what a disappointment. The beer battered cod was greasy and overcooked, cole slaw tasteless. Salad with lettuce and 4 scallops for $22. Not cheap. They brought out half our order, and 15 minutes later we had to go in and ask about the other 2 entrees, which took another 15 min to come out. We mess our first visit to Brauns after seeing their feature on News 12 East End. They have 2 areas, one that acts as a restaurant (no table side service)and one as a seafood sure where you can get fresh seafood. We first day in the restaurant. We ordered the the lobster roll and the lobster taco which were both amazing. We then went into the fish store where they have an amazing selection of fresh fish, great lobster specials and frozen seafood as well. I ordered a beautiful weakfish and red snapper which was fileted and porgy too. All the fish was truly amazing, fresh and delicious! We will definitely be back!!!! read more

I go here to buy the fresh seafood in the market I do not order the prepared food. The swordfish and sea scallops are always a great choice here. I think this is my go to place for seafood salad! If you add a squeeze of fresh lemon on it you'll be perfect! The market is always clean and does not stink. The staff is very friendly and if you need assistance on anything they will help you out. The fried oysters are good and a generous serving. The lobster roll was just okay. I think you should pass on that and stick to the... Fried flounder sandwich with tartar sauce. They give you a heaping portion of sweet potatoe fries. After a day spent at the vineyards and intoxicated, this is a good spot to swing by to soak up all that wine. read more

Menu of Brauns to Go was changed in a big way two years ago or so. Quality went way way downhill. Not so hot now and quite expensive - a lot of deep fried stuff, soggy french fries and a paella without much taste. read more

Limited review.. One visit.. Lobster salad to go.. for me in the car when driving back with their amazing Montauk caught sea scallops. Both .. uhmm 10 stars.. Those Montauk just caught sea scallops were better than ANY other local sea scallops. Whiter, firmer, sweeter, amazing. On the way home.. comparing lobster salad to other east end places, Tully's in HB, or Dock House in Sag Harbor, or Lobster Roll, Amagansett.. all good.. but I really found this super fresh, super firm not mushy salty, nor heavy mayo.. etc.. Really perfect. The east end can ruin you for anywhere else. The north fork even more so. read more

I think if you stick with the salads or wraps this could be a good local option, but I highly recommend avoiding the fried stuff - the fried oysters were one of the grossest things I've eaten in some time. Fresh seafood from the market and fresh seafood from the restaurant. Both are excellent. Had the blackened tuna the other night and it was cooked and seasoned nicely. The fries are great if you like them a bit crispy. Sandwiches are also very good. I usually order by phone and wait at least 1/2 hour before pickup since they do take some time to prepare the dishes. The market always has a nice selection of local fish. Flounder/Fluke is always fresh and reasonably priced. Scallops when in season are very good but can be expensive but no more than what other fish markets charge. The also have soups to go and clam pie which is very good. There are some new tables inside the restaurant but still only about 4-5 tables and they also have a big tent outside with tables and benches. read more

Ordered the lobster roll to go and brought it to a winery down the street! They do have indoor and outdoor seating that is very nice. Potato salad was amazing! Wish we had ordered a side of it. Cole slaw was also delicious. Lobster itself was great, but the roll/bread it was on was not fresh and was not good. I picked out everything and ate all but the bread. This review is for the fish store, I have never sat in their restaurant. The seafood is always fresh and the pricing fair. The only item I have purchased from Braun are the crab cakes. I always buy them fresh to bring home and freeze. I enjoy these because they are well spiced and you can see the crab meat. These are not the "breading mixed with artificial crab meat and eggs" that so many stores pass off as freshly made crab cakes. I have often used these crab cakes as stuffing for my fresh Long Island flounder too. The one time the store was closed, I went into the restaurant, told the person behind the counter what I was looking for and they quickly brought out the order for me. I like places like this where they cook what they sell. Braun is mostly a seafood market and it shows. The market side seems bigger while there's only a small space for seating on the restaurant side. I got the lobster wrap which I thought was good. I thought it would basically be a wrap version of a lobster roll but much to my surprise it was a full size wrap with a lot of sweet meat inside of it. The slaw and the potato salad were both pretty bland, seemed store bought. There were a lot of flies while we were eating which made it hard to enjoy everything, even with all the fly strips they had hanging up there were a bunch of them buzzing around trying to get into everything. Small dining area for dine in and seafood market place on the side. Whenever I visit Long Island for wine tasting, get dozen of fresh oysters from here for tasting room. $10.50 you can get dozen of fresh oysters. Small oysters but still fresh and comes with nice cocktail sauce. I like their New England clam chowder and fried seafood combo. But lobster roll is just so so.. Maybe because of the bun they use, I couldn't taste the it's own sweetness of the lobster. Additionally fresh tomato toppings... It wasn't for me. The roll itself was only ok, next time I will ask them to butter and toast it - broil plate: flounder was melt in your mouth! Shrimp also plump and delicious. Bay scallops a bit overcooked. Roasted potatoes yummy! - new England clam chowder (bought frozen and ate at home): one of the best clams chowders I have ever had! No sand whatsoever. The clam and seafood flavor was really present and infused into all components of the soup. Texture was perfect (not too runny or too thick) and overall flavor was spot on. - toasted almond cream cake: eh just ok Overall seafood was delicious! When my family has wanted to eat seafood over the years, and haven't caught it ourselves, we've gone to Braun's and always been satisfied. Their quality is phenomenal, especially since most of what they sell has been caught locally. They're a big wholesaler so if you go there, you're often getting fish that's much fresher than anyting you can buy otherwise. My cousin even worked there for a summer a while back and remains a huge fan. I'm not sure when they started it, but their casual restaurant is fantastic!! Their lunch specials are a great deal and are ready quickly. I really like the fried clam shooters (done more like fish and chips than the italian way), though their lobster rolls (always an expensive treat) are as good as Pearl Oyster Bar in the City, maybe even a little better. They also have a sushi bar, which I think was a phenomenal idea! I don't think anything at the sushi bar is caught locally, but it is still extremely high quality and fresh. read more

I was surprised to see the lack of yelp reviews around Greenport/Northfork area. We decided to do some seafood hunting and this place wins my vote. We were visiting Greenport, NY and searched for some fresh seafood and our second stop was Braun Seafood for lunch to grab some lobster rolls, ended up ordering clambake and fried fish! Clambake was pretty awesome for $26.95. It came with a pretty big lobster, clams, mussels, shrimp, and a piece of corn. It took a little while and employees didn't really bother telling us what was going on. We almost thought they forgot about our order because they just sat around chatting. Lobster was cooked perfectly (they didn't overcook it where it can turn rubbery). It was seasoned well and tasted fresh. They partially cracked the lobster for us which made it much easier to eat. Our beer battered cod fish was also crispy without much grease left on it! Fish was really meaty and it was one of the best fried fish I had in a while. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Braun's has been the "go-to place" for seafood for our family for many years. They recently had a major warehouse fire in the middle of the night, and while there was lots of destruction and inventory loss luckily nobody was injured. So we have made it a point to shop there often to help their business recover. Everything we have bought there since the fire has been the same first class seafood they have been know to carry for years. Fresh cod, salmon and halibut have all been great. Their chowders are excellent. We recently bought our first "raw bar boat" from them with clams, oysters and shrimp and all the garnishes- it was the big hit at a recent dinner we hosted. In between the many vineyards we visited that day, we decided to sober up and get some filling foods in our tummies. The fresh seafood seat-yourself atmosphere really drew me in from reading the Yelp reviews, so we headed to Braun's. Upon entering, the delectable scent of fishy fishyness wafted through my nostrils and my taste buds were officially piqued! Looking at the menu we noticed nothing here was exactly "cheap"... I mean not like "cheap" cheap, but I was expecting the typical shacky-seat-yourself-prices. I ordered a tuna salad, and maybe I was still a little tooo tipsy and not thinking straight, but I assumed the salad would come with "real" chunks tuna if it cost $11. My boyfriend ordered a lobster roll and a small Manhattan clam chowder. GRAND TOTAL: $36. So we paid up, stood around until our order was ready, carried our own tray outside, ate, and even cleaned up after ourselves. Lobster roll- it was good. I've had good lobster rolls before too. The chowder- it was good. Also had good chowders before. This place is a little shop on the side of a seafood market. They have a HUGE specials board that is heavily influenced by what the boats are bringing in that day. My wife got a soft shell crab sandwich. It was super tasty and they even brought him out so the kids could see before they turned him into a sandwich. The kids got fish and chips (excellent) and a burger (also good). I tried the halibut and chips and was not disappointed. Well cooked fish and good sides.
