Very old brew house in Cologne serving traditional Cologne Pilsner. We only had a few beers here, but the service was good, the beers plentiful and cold! Was nice to sit on the pedestrian street and watch the people go by. read more

I personally like the food here a lot. The atmosphere is nice and the restaurants very clean. Service could've been a little bit better. not all of them Spoke English very well. I also found the small glass of beer. Very annoying. The glass is so small it's like two sips. But otherwise, I really like the food. And the price was OK. read more

Went because it came up before I left. Other than the small beers, lol, it was really good. I had the sausage special with potatoes and cabbage side. The mustard was so good it had something of horse radish. The young lady that took care of me was super nice and helped me with my order. read more

Horrendous service. Read the reviews here and on TripAdvisor, the staff are aggressively rude. Why are management not sorting this. Its a lovely place in a good location but the staff are absolutely awful! Avoid this place like the plague read more

My friend and I went on a quest to try as many of Köln's best beers at the best beer places. We ranked each Kölsch beer after it was all over. Our journey had some interesting paths but some great stories were created on our journey. Not as big as some of the other places we had visited but with good beer it doesn't really matter. Sion is probably my second favorite Kölsch that I had. I did not like at all the service here though, my friend and were not even half way done with are beers and then he brought us two more. We knew about putting the coaster on top of your beer to indicate we don't want anymore but we were told to do that only when the beer is almost empty. Then the second time they tried to charge my dad and I for 2 beers each and he knew he was trying to pull a fast one on us. Two different guys took advantage of us because we weren't from Köln. So even though I liked this beer I won't go back here, plenty other places for Sion Kölsch. read more

Sion Brauhaus is one of many fun and interesting Places to have beer and food by the Cologne Dom. We had the Currywurst (great, the fries were so so), had the 1/4 meter Bratwurst (very good) along with countless Kölsch. The Kölsch is Great, but honestly all Kölsch are excellent so that's expected. Food is more expensive than other Brauhauses, such as Fruh for example (Happen Mett 4,50 vs 2,50). The Brauhaus itself is clean and nice to eat at. Servers are super unfriendly, easily irritated and not helpful, but that sadly is almost standard now in all these Brauhauses in Cologne. Worth checking out once, but not more than that. read more

Sion turned out to be my least favourite of all the Kolsches! And the inside of this venue really wasn't interesting at all...so we sat out by the pedestrian thoroughfare where they do, its true, have a location one could envy. The fact that we were all ready to leave after one beer chaser, chasing nothing shows that it was not so hot! I wore a hat the whole damn time! read more

Classic German Brauhaus which is a good thing! Trying to get a seat can be a challenge as they are busy with both locals and tour groups. The back of the restaurant is huge, and was only half full when we arrived, but were told it is only for those with reservations. Fortunately we were offered a table if we didn't mind sharing, which turned out to be a great experience as we met a couple of locals out or lunch. Everything is fast. You don't order beer as the waiter arrives with a carousel and plops down a beer on the assumption you want another. They go quick as they are only .2l. We dined lite and had soup. The kartoffelsuppe (potato) and gulaschsupper were among the best we've had and very reasonably priced as well. Watching others get everything from pork knuckles to mussels, it all looked good. Great place, lots of fun would definitely go back to try one of their mains. read more

We spent 2 hours in town on our way to Dusseldorf. We had two goals....climb the tower and eat some authentic German food. Mission accomplished. They take credit cards, the service was great, the beer was excellent (one size, one style...really simple to order). Wiener schnitzel (not a hot dog, my friends) two kinds of sausage, potato salad, hot German potatoes, mashed potatoes, hot sauerkraut.....all delicious. read more

Ate at the outdoor seating with a large group. Food was good but service and overall atmosphere was lackluster. Seemed to cater very much to the the tourists in the neighborhood for the Dom. Kolsch style beer here did not seem quite up to some of the other places. read more

Definitely a solid Brauhaus in Koln. Hearty portions, reasonable prices and an amazingly German venue put it up high on my list when I visit Koln. I don't understand people complaining about service, you're in Europe, things happen a little slower than in America, I thought you were trying to experience something new. Relax and have another Kolsch, they only cost 2 Euro. read more

The food was soooo heavy although my friend ordered the most beautiful chicken salad - I had meal envy! My currywurst was very tasty but one sausage and some chips seemed a bit mean. Service was funny(he had great humour) but relatively slow and far from reacI didn't enjoy it very much. read more

This was an interesting place. I had not been to this kind of restaurant experience even after having lived in Germany. Basically, you order a beer. It is served in a small glass, maybe 20 cl. Then they walk around with a carrier full of these beers and bring a new one as yours gets empty. To stop the flow, you put your coaster on top of your glass. At least that is what I was told. We couldn't get beer quickly enough to even need to stop them coming. The food was pretty good, I wish I had ordered the pig's knuckle here. I had a schnitzel and it was very large. Big place, lots of tourists. I am still not certain what the protocol for getting a table is. We wandered around and found one that didn't have a reserved tag on it. It was interesting for one time, I probably wouldn't need to go again. read more

Terrible experience at this "restaurant." We were seated at a high table and when we asked the waiter if they had fries, he pointed to the most expensive dish on the menu-the pork knuckles-and said we would have to order that if we wanted fries (not possible as a side). Another waiter then came over and told us to move tables rather forcefully, and who we presumed was a local instead took our nice table. Inconvenient. Then, the old waiter immediately demanded that we pay for our beers since the waiters only serve certain tables. He yelled at us asking why we moved, and he didn't believe that the other waiter told us to leave. We told the waiter that this was wrong, and he shrugged and chuckled. We then canceled the food we ordered and left. Terrible service-this business cannot survive much longer with such a rude staff. read more

Very good! The portions are enormous so skip the appetizer. We had the pork knuckle and the bratwurst with cabbage and both were delicious. Prices were surpringly good for the touristy location. Beer is a standard Kolsch in the small glasses. read more
