I walked in, met eyes with young girl at counter. I smiled, nothing. Thats ok, we are not always on. After perusing a while, met eyes with the young dingbat directly, standing there, her phone in her hand, with fear of losing her tight hold on it, stared at me, and yes, gave me the once over up and down...nothing. Its not that i have expectations, or that anyone even has to say hello. Its the level of discomfort one creates. I made a quick look over and left. I am in the design biz, and believe me , snoot is common. But somehow, bako is worse then LA or NY. I see it over and over. Saw it at flower district in same area. Never went again. I just find it fascinating.

Since my previous post, we've worked with Kelly and her new assistant Whitney to redo our living room. We were still in our rental home, so again limited on changing anything like wall colors and fixtures, but that didn't stop this team from transforming a somewhat awkwardly designed room into an inviting family room. And again, no judgements from this team when they saw we were still living with worn out leather couches from my husband's bachelor days - they absolutely understand we all start somewhere, and not all of us are naturally gifted at designing a room! Of note - we did have a small problem with the couch cushions we had ordered through Kelly. The foam was apparently a bad batch and quickly deteriorated after installation. If was ZERO issue though, as we contacted Kelly and explained the situation. Within an hour we'd received confirmation they would be replaced as soon as possible. To ensure no future issues with other clients, Kelly visited to see how bad the problem was and relay the issue to the manufacturer (who also sought to get us new cushions as soon as possible). When the new cushions arrived, Kelly's assistant Whitney stopped by as soon as we were available to reinstall. It was a seamless process and reaffirmed just how much they care about their clients. We're now working with Kelly to pick out features in a new home we're building to ensure we get off to a solid start. They've been very understanding of the fact that we are limited by builder options for things like cabinets and counters, and also very understanding that this will not be a full house project, but rather the very basic things to get started and build over time. We're excited for the opening of her new storefront in January, as well as continuing to work together through the construction of our new home and into the future as we complete new projects to put together the home of our dreams.
