I hired Servant Plumbing for two jobs in my home. One reason I chose them was the cross in their logo and the Christian values reflected in their advertising. The first job was a small repair in my back bathroom: replacing the toilet tank components, the shut-off valve, and a 10-12-inch supply line. The second job involved diagnosing and repairing a hot water leak in my hall bathroom. Steve estimated both jobs at $1,275, which I paid in cash before work began. The back bathroom repair was completed, and the workmanship was excellent. The hall bath repair, however, turned out to be much more extensive than anticipated. I was told it would require significantly more work, including replacing the tub, which I could not afford. I understood and accepted that the larger repair would not be completed. My concern arose when I received a refund of $670, meaning I was charged $635 for the small back bathroom repair alone. Given the scope of the work, I questioned whether that amount was reasonable and requested an itemized invoice showing labor, materials, and hours worked. I never received one. Steve also told me that part of the $635 charge covered a tool he had purchased while attempting the hall bathroom repair. I was never informed beforehand that I would be responsible for purchasing a tool. When I questioned this, I was told I could have the tool if I drove to Walterboro--about an hour from my home--to pick it up. After several business days of trying to resolve these concerns with Steve, I contacted the Mount Pleasant office. Mike returned my call and stated that the larger hall bathroom repair would normally cost around $850 (excluding the cost of a new tub). Based on that information, the completed back bathroom repair would have been approximately $425. He said he would discuss the matter with Steve and get back to me. After waiting another week without hearing from anyone, I called Mike again. He told me he had not yet had time to investigate my concerns or speak with Steve. On top of this, Mike said Steve had just gone on vacation. I was told it would be at least another week before they could discuss the matter. At that point, I felt helpless, unheard, frustrated, and taken advantage of... There were additional concerns, but these were the primary issues. As a widow and the caregiver for my 27-year-old son with severe special needs, this was a significant expense for my family. I genuinely hoped these concerns could be resolved privately. Since they were not, I felt it was important to share my experience so others can make an informed decision.

I called assuming the rain had delayed my service tech from being on time I requested a different day and was rescheduled for 17 July, both appointments were for 8am to 12pm. On the 17th which was a nice day that appointment came and went as well. I called very disappointed not having any reason that the technician didn't arrive during the designated reserved time frame. I called the following Monday, 20 July to speak with a supervisor, instead of writing a poor company review. They said they would pass on a message for the service supervisor Dan to call, of course that call never came. If an HAVC company doesn't call or text me to explain why there is a delay in coming out and not show up, and no follow-up from a supervisor. I certainly wouldn't rely on them for servicing!

I called around to get estimates. No place would come out to even do anything other than a diagnostic fee for nearly $100. Many people told me over the phone that they wouldn't give me an estimate, or rough guess would be $1500-$3000 to repair my issue. I had a corroded gas line from my meter into my home that was leaking. I called John this morning. He firstly told me it would only be a $45 diagnostic fee, and roughly $300 to repair. Not only did he do both of those parts, he did them much cheaper than many of the other companies I called. Then he even came the same day, at the time that was best for me. When he got to my home, he quickly saw the issue, and knew it would be a little more expensive than what I was describing. I didn't even send him any photos when I first called. He went to Lowes, got the needed pipe, and was back quickly. He completed the work, very thoroughly, and as cleanly as possible. Mind you, my issue resulted in a hole needing to be made on the inside of my home to access the gas line. He did the work, and only charged me $500, which is a fraction of what I probably would've paid with another company, and also probably would've had to wait a day or two for someone to come out. He's very knowledgable and seems to do good work. He's the owner, so his reputation is on the line. I would definitely recommend him to anyone needing a plumber! I will definitely use him again in the future as well. The gas company came out a short time later, tested the line for leaks, and did not find any, and turned the gas back on!
