I could not have asked for a more perfect wedding day and I have Brass Tacks Events to thank!! My husband and I had a very limited budget compared to most weddings and having a Brass Tacks coordinator was worth every single penny! From our first meeting, we could tell that everyone at Brass Tacks was so fun; they genuinely love what they do and care about you as a person, not just as a customer--"Believe in Perfection" isn't just a slogan to them, they live it! Their top priority was making sure they understood my vision for the wedding and made it happen. (Kevin was great about asking questions to get the right information since I didn't have a theme for the wedding.) As I mentioned, we had limited funds so they made suggestions on what to focus our money on, what NOT to skip, and how to spend less on certain aspects while still putting on a fun, classy wedding that we got SO many compliments on! We got the "day of" package and Kevin and Lindsey were more than happy to look over contracts and talk to vendors to make sure everything was perfect. This alone saved us money and kept us from a potentially disastrous catering situation! Lindsey was a dream to work with; I'm still getting comments from family members and the wedding party on how amazing she was! Kevin is the best too--he surprised me by showing up and videoing the entire wedding for us. (For real, how amazing is that?!) Leading up to the wedding, Lindsey was great about keeping in touch, asking detailed questions about everything, and following up with vendors to verify details and arrival times which really put me at ease and gave me confidence that things were under control. She arrived early on the day of the wedding, directed all vendors on setup and timeline details, answered tons of questions for guests, family, and members of the wedding party, and checked in on me periodically to make sure everything was great--all with a level head and a smile on her face! Everyone at Brass Tacks truly went above and beyond what was expected and I absolutely 100% recommend using them as your event coordinators (even, or maybe especially, if you're on a tight budget--it will pay for itself through their help and suggestions and the peace of mind you get is priceless)!! When I first started planning my wedding I met with several coordinators and none of them really seemed like a precise fit for me. Some had good ideas for decorating, but were disorganized and slow to respond to my phone calls/emails. Others were really organized, but brought nothing to the table with regards to design advice. I began to feel that I would have to "settle" for one of them. Then, I had the great fortune to meet Gia and Kevin from Brass Tacks. Within minutes of talking to them, my whole perspective changed. I have never seen such enthusiasm! It was almost funny seeing how excited they got discussing my wedding. Just in our first conversation, they were already throwing out these amazing ideas and tips on how to save money and make your wedding look like a million bucks without spending a million bucks. Then, we actually set up a time to meet and sit down at a table to really get into the details, they came to my house with so much stuff. Photos of flowers and cakes, linen samples, photographers books and this huge pad of paper with all these ideas and concepts they had already thought of earlier in that week. This sounds so dorky, but it reminded me of that scene in "Pretty Woman" where everyone is catering to Julia Roberts in that fancy store. You feel like a princess! ...and that feeling continued throughout the entire planning process. We had about 9 months to make it all happen and it all came together flawlessly. All along, they kept reminding me of their motto - "Believe in Perfection" - and they were right! You really can have the perfect wedding. I cannot begin to tell you how many compliments I got from family and friends. And the compliments weren't just limited to my dress and the flowers and food (which were all fantastic), but even the little things. Gia and Kevin were right - people do notice that stuff! Writing a 5-star review is not something I take lightly. I travel quite a bit with my work and I have been fortunate enough to stay at some of the finest hotels and dine at the best known restaurants anywhere in the world. I don't believe in hype, I don't buy-in to something because it's trendy, I simply believe that the finest things should exceed even your greatest expectations. When seeking a professional wedding planner and designer, my philosophy was the same. I was by no means a bridezilla, but much like every bride, I wanted everything to be perfect. That said, it was shocking, to say the least, when I had a meeting with the first wedding planner in Austin and she told me within our first 5 minutes of conversing, "Something always goes wrong on your wedding day so just get over it now and move on." I couldn't believe my ears! I immediately ended the consultation, but could not fight the urge to say in response, "I'm sorry you feel that way. My father is a heart surgeon and I couldn't imagine him ever saying that to a patient before heading into the operating room." My second experience with another planner was not much better. It was not until I met Kevin with Brass Tacks Events that my hope for a perfect wedding day was renewed. Contrary to my previous meetings with other planners, I knew that I was going to hire him within the first five minutes of our consultation. His energy was unbelievable and his excitement and enthusiasm for my ideas was so refreshing. During our initial conversations, he was very professional and responded quickly to all of our requests. We signed on with Kevin and started our weekly updates and conversations.
