Food/Drink: Pastry -- Cream Cheese Coffee Cake (Perfection, this sweet treat was soft, moist, and full of flavor. Rating = 9.3/10.) Drink #1 -- Hot Vanilla Latte (Delish, not a big hot drink fan but this was an exception to the rule! Rating = 8.4/10.) Drink #2 -- Iced Vanilla Latte (Wonderful, really all I could ask for out of my favorite coffee order, not to sweet and excellent espresso taste. Rating = 8.4/10.) Service: No complaints on the service. The shop wasn't too busy so our order came out as expected with little wait! Ambiance: The location is unique - located in a neighborhood amongst what appears to be primarily college housing units. The building itself is really cool - albeit, quite small - and is decorated/themed with a lot of intention. The shop has a retro vibe with a VCR tape collection, nostalgic children games, and other late '90s / early '00s antiques lining the walls. Overall, this spot is one of our favorites in the Iowa City area, and we will definitely be return customers!

The coffee was awesome and I returned the next day. Thos time I got breakfast. The bacon grilled cheese was slightly disappointing. Only two small strips of bacon on this lovely sandwich. I didn't even taste the bacon and had to disassemble the sandwich to confirm that they even put bacon. I'll be back for coffee but not sure if I'll be ordering anything to eat. The dinning area is kind of noisy but the decor is great. There's only one cozy seating area and the rest are tables and hard back chairs. Staff was friendly and helpful

This breakfast sandwich was delicious! Full of flavor and the croissant was perfectly buttery and flaky. Rating = 9.2/10). Iced Vanilla Latte (Solid. Solid. Solid. Enjoyed that this latte wasn't overly sweet to the point where it drowns out the espresso flavor. It wasn't the best I've had, but it definitely got the job done this morning. Rating = 7.9/10). Service: The employees I interacted with and observed while I spent the morning working in the shop seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs. Everyone was polite and were chatting with the regulars as they came in and out. Ambiance: The physical space had all sorts of room for people like myself who were there looking for a place to be productive. From bar seating, high tops, tables, couches, and comfy chairs - this place can accommodate all sorts of patrons. As a bonus, I had the pleasure of sitting right next to the roaster while they were actively roasting beans for most of the morning! Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better place to serve as my office for the morning. A well deserved 5/5 rating!

Here are our thoughts below! Food/Drink: Monster Cookie (Yum! This cookie was HUGE, soft, and delicious. Rating = 8/10). Hot Cinnamon Roll Latte (This tasted nearly identical to a warm, gooey, cinnamon roll! Be warned - it is a very sweet beverage. Rating = 7.7/10). Iced Hazelnut Latte (YES! This is basically almost as good as it gets when it comes to a latte. Absolutely scrumdidilyumptious. Rating = 9/10). Service: The service here could not have been better! Our barista's name was Brianna, and she had a phenomenal attitude. She looked excited to help us out and appears to love her job. Her passion for her job truly shined through during our time in the shop. Ambiance: As mentioned above, this review is based on our visit to the First Street location in Cedar Falls. It has a much different vibe than the College Hill location. The First Street location is not quite as "homey" as the College Hill cafe and has more of a coffee chain feel (not as much unique character that I typically enjoy with local coffee brands). The College Hill location, on the other hand, has much more personality. It is an excellent place to get some work done, read a book, or meet up with friends! All in all - we undoubtedly had a 5-star experience at Sidecar this past weekend. Excellent food and drink and some of the best service we've received in a while!

They roast, blend, and package their coffee in Dubuque, Iowa. Their name derives from a street in Iowa that contained only five houses comprised of the founder's family. In the early 2000s the street was annihilated to make room for highway expansion, but the name lives on in the coffee. For my first review from their brand, I went with a whole bean bag of their Shot Tower Espresso blend. The company describes that blend as having a " smooth yet sharp character with no bitterness. The delicately dark roast level results in a taste and aroma that is full-bodied with a sweet and creamy complexity." Beans for their signature espresso blend are selected from Central America, South America and Indonesia in order for a unique and nuanced flavor profile. I found this particular roast to not only be delicious, but one of my new favorites. I'll be on the lookout for more of their blends at my local grocer. 5/5 stares for my online ordering experience and customer service…read more I placed an order on Cyber Monday, figuring I would take advantage of the 40% off on ground coffees. Picked out what I wanted and ordered online...only to find out that my in-laws don't really use ground coffee, but single-serve instead. Agh! Once I found out this very-important-information, it was an 1.5 hours after placing my order. I emailed customer services asking about how I could change my order from ground coffee to single-serve. Eric immediately wrote me back and explained that it would be easier to cancel my order, then I could reorder what I did want, as they use a 3rd party credit card processor. I was instantly refund the $ I spent on my original order, so I turned around and bought the single-serve coffee instead. Less than 48 hours after placing my online order my in-laws received their coffee in the Chicago suburbs - super fast delivery. They were thrilled, and I can't say enough good things about Verena Street's products and their customer service. Would love to see them expand their single-serve coffee flavors in the future. The ability to choose a shipping date (especially for the holiday season) would be a nice option, too. Highly recommend.
