We are new to the area and brought our dog here for a vet visit. I would say the facility is okay, simple but clean. The front desk staff seemed to be a bit overwhelmed and stressed. They were late getting us to our appointment but once we were taken back I cannot say enough good things about the vet tech and the vet. They were both excellent. They were very friendly, took the time to answer questions and interact with our pup and had great advice on dealing with her issues. I think the cost for the service is very reasonable. So if you are looking for good service and great vets I highly recommend. read more

I had been taking my dogs to the New Castle location for sometime. One day I took my dogs in for shots, when I went to pay my bill one of people at the desk snapped "there is a 3% fee to use that card". I was surprised at the way she snapped. I always use my credit card because I am not sure of what the final fee will be. There has never been an issue with my credit card before. Recently I tried to make an appointment for my dogs to get shots, when someone called me later that evening to make the appointment, the guy said "before I can make the appointment I need a deposit". When I asked when did that start, he said last year. I asked where and when was there notification of this, he just said "you will just have to go into the office to make an appointment. Wow, with everything that's going on today, why would they think anyone would give out that information on the phone when you cannot verify who you are talking to or that information is correct. Had my cat neutered & labwork & vaccinated when I initially found him as a stray years ago. He was determined to be about 7 years old and FIV+ but not symptomatic. He became symptomatic &, when I brought him in to be seen, was told they no longer took walkins & didn't have any appointments available. I said I would bring him back but needed medication to keep him alive until he could be seen. Was informed that I couldn't get medicine without being seen. My cat was obviously in distress & another patient who had an appointment offered me their space but the receptionist wouldn't permit the switch. I could not find a vet who was accepting new patients & the Pet emergency locations didn't open for hours & was located in salisbury. I continued to sit there while my cat was crying loudly in pain. Finally. I was told a vet would see him after they had lunch. Well, after another 2 hours, my baby died in my arms. At that time, BVSPCA was the sole beneficiary of one of my life insurance policies ($350,000). After dropping my boy at Parsell's to be cremated, I changed my life insurance beneficiary. When deciding on a vet, make sure that they accommodate emergency situations. As we all know, cats, puppies & older dogs can deteriorate within a few days & cannot wait a week or more for an "emergency" appointment. Routine appointments do not usually result in an untimely death! . In my 55 years prior to moving to delaware, I never had a problem having a sick pet seen within a few hours of calling. To the contrary, my previous vet would meet me at the office even in the middle of the night. In Delaware (Sussex County specifically) vet care is run like a money making business with exorbitant fees rather than a committed vocation. My donations now go directly to the independent rescues rather than the major organizations whose first priority is enriching their CEOs and upper management rather than the pets who need professional and competent care in a timely manner. read more

What a emphatic, efficient & warm fuzzy experience for our Calico Camillia. Rough week for us. Our 12 year dog died last week, 15 year old Camillia mourned & 3 days later she was here to be euthanized. Casey started us out gently & thoughtfully as we struggled with our losses. She sensitively walked us through the procedure & time required to do what's best for our creatures. Dr. Landon then completed the process with the same caring concern. I found my boy Siloh here! The process was quick but inclusive. I paid a $350 adoption fee since he was over 6 months old (he was 11 months.) I did have to register him to me so i now have a dog registry & he is microchipped. I also received a complimentary visit to Dover VCA. The adoption fee in my opinion was alittle high but Siloh is priceless so i am happy he's here with me. read more

I have nothing but good to report about these people and the wonderful animals they care for and find good homes for! They work endless exhausting hours trying to save these animals from horrible conditions. The low cost vet clinic offer basic care for people who want to care for their pets but can't afford the outrageous prices that most clinics charge. The staff is well trained and really care...most likely more for the critters then for most people after what they have seen..! I applaud everyone affiliated with the Brandywine Valley SPCA...volunteers included! Anyone that has a bad experience there should walk a mile in their boots!! read more

I recently adopted from Brandywine . I have the perfect dog for my home and lifestyle. The staff and most of the volunteers are knowledgeable and kind. The trainer is wonderful and made the meet and greet easy and pleasant. My dog was sick and unfortunately some of my other dogs became ill. They stepped up and helped me out. If I could give this shelter anything less than 1 star I would. First off. The staff was not the friendliest when I was there with my girlfriend. We saw a cute pittie that was not yet available for adoption. 2 days later (yesterday) my girlfriend goes back and meets the dog and after filling out the adoption paperwork she speaks with the staff only to find out the dog has not been temperament tested with dogs yet. We were intent on going there today with our dog to have them meet, and the staff assured us it would be fine. Come to find out they undercut us and adopted the dog to someone else. No warning or even a suggestion they would do that nor did they even say that someone else was interested. They are supposed to find good homes for animals, they aren't trying to sell used cars to clear the lot. Oh and don't try to call them on the phone. You have a better chance of reaching Jimmy Hoffa's car phone than you do reaching a mouth breather who works here. read more

While their schedule can be confusing and inconvenient and their customer service is less than optimal (it is difficult to actually speak to someone at the clinic or in the shelter directly), once your fury friend can be seen, they provide quality care at reasonable prices and they truly care for the animals. The clinic is only open Mondays and Thursdays (provided that the doctors are in). There have been times when the clinic was closed weeks at a time or the doctors were out and once after having driven 30 mins for an early morning appointment they called me 5 mins before our appointment start time to cancel, but given the pricing of their services and the lack of comparable services in the area, these inconveniences seem par for the course. I continue to bring my cats and any stray animals that require medical care to them and I would recommend their services to others who have financial constraints. read more

Had a $20 certificate for neutering but changed me 20 for neutering 10 for meds and 10 for a cone and 30 extra cause they said she was in heat never said anything about any extra charges or try calling me to tell me this so I had the money when picking up our dog. read more
