While I'm usually someone who prefers structured tours, I really loved how relaxed the tour guide was. He was very young but knew just about everything I could have ever wanted to know about the caverns. (He mentioned one of his favorite things is exploring caves/caving/spelunking which told me he takes his job very seriously as he's clearly passionate about the subject.) After the tour, I spent some time in the gift shop buying goodies for my young nephews. They sell bags/buckets of sand/dirt full of gems and rocks! I bought 5 bags and I wish I would have bought more! I overheard them say they were shipping a bunch of bags to a women in another state, so I fully intend on giving them a call to see if I can get them to ship a few bags to me! (Fingers crossed.) Definitely wear shoes with great treads as the caverns can be slippery. I went to the Seneca Caverns last minute and was unprepared with tread-less Toms, but the tour guide did a great job of warning the group before we went into a slippery area and a great job of telling us exactly where to hold onto as we walked over the slick spots. I've been here hundreds of times over the years, but I stopped in recently to grab a snack, use the bathroom, and get some gas for a little adventure up to Spruce Knob. FYI: This is one of the only places in the area to get gas that is usually open when you need it. Thank you because I forget to get gas in Elkins and everyone else was closed. Yikes! Every time I am here I enjoy eating their food whether from the store or the restaurant up stairs, I love looking around at all the cool stuff they have for sale, I am always buying this or that, and I truly enjoy sparking up a convo with one of the owners or employees. And upstairs, there is a country furniture store with rustic furniture and decorative canoes, signs etc. It is a wonderful place to visit.

The grocery section is pretty small but had everything I was looking for - sliced bread, fruit, vegetables, and milk. The price is roughly 2 times what you would expect to pay at Food Lion though - $5 for half a gallon of milk, $5 for a loaf of bread, etc. There's also an assortment of souvenirs if you're interested in that kind of thing, including a mini Build a Bear type machine (where you stuff the animal with cotton and pick out an outfit). Although we didn't go fishing at Massanutten, we did hear that you can buy fishing bait, a fishing license, and rent fishing gear here too. Apparently their lakes are stocked 8 times a year so there's always fish!

The resort itself was beautiful and the girl cleaning our wonderful DOUBLE room was fantastic. They indicate the bar would be open nightly..it never opened. Do not recommend AT ALL.
