I go waaay back to 1993 when I visited Brandreth Barn as a student abroad from the United States. I spent two nights with them before the start of the University year.
I love every minute of my stay with them. Quaint. Rustic. Comfortable.
There was a wedding party going on there one time and the restaurant was closed to the public. I was hungry and I took a quick look at what they were serving and I said, "I want what they're having and I will pay for it." Sure enough, they were gracious enough to let me have a plate and that was THE most delicious 25 quids I ever paid.
It's a working farm so expect the roosters to crow in the mornings and the smells and sounds of a farm just getting started in their day. It's different, but it's also very English.
Thank you, Brandreth Barn! I've missed you and I hope to re-visit you again. read more
