If you love a good rummage, Ditmars Thrift S. has all the staples you would expect from a second-hand store: loud costume jewelry, books, CDs, clothes, kitchenware, vases, picture frames, etc. My kid scored a neutral-styled slim wooden tray she bought for her grandmother to store lotions+ perfume including a 1970s small book on women and fatigue..... for me. I purchased a zebra print cropped sweater with puffy sleeves for me- which my daughter said "it looks fun". So maybe you won't find a super famous signed piece of art or stunning fine china- but you'll find many reasonably priced items at this diamond-in-the-rough store on Ditmars Blvd in Astoria.

The vintage games in the front were super cool. The prices were not bad at all. I was dying to get the blue love seat but didn't have a car with me. The back of the thrift has all these cool clothes. I saw this lovely jacket that was under 30 bucks. The staff is very nice here. Since they were about to close they had the clothes section cut off, but the staff said let me go back there anyway. Needless to say I'll definitely come back. They have some good finds here.

A hoarder's heaven! This place is jam packed with stuff and a bit claustrophobic. The store is…read moreextremely small and piled with items, so there is only really this one hallway to walk through. If you need to pass another person you need to really scooch to the side and work together to get by. Also, it's pretty hot in there so dress appropriately. I came looking for plates and cups. The wall of glassware is full of items but most are either single items or far too disorganized to find the rest of the set. Things are stacked to the brim so while hunting through the glassware I felt like the stacks of glasses could fall off the wall at any moment. After some hunting I found 3 pairs of glasses to take home as well as a set of 4 plates and a few glass trinkets. Prices are super cheap, so if you have some time and you're willing to hunt and move some things around this is the place for you. You're not going to find anything particularly fancy in here but for ~10-15 items of glassware I paid $13.50. Cash and card are accepted. The lady at the front wrapped everything in newspaper for me and helped me pack them in my bag which was nice. Overall, lowkey and jam packed place ideal for the humble thrifter.

I'm just not sure what that thing is. I've come here plenty of times over the years to look, but have never found anything worth purchasing. The top floor is full of clothes, but there's no rhyme or reason to anything. And listen, I get it, it's a thrift store. But even Savers and Goodwill have sections for certain types of clothing. Maybe these folks do separate the pants from the shirts and it all inevitably gets mixed back up by shoppers? Anyway, just know that if you're coming here it's going to be a bit of a dig. The selection is fine, with most items in decent condition. Prices are sometimes hard to decipher, and some prices to me are questionable. Their bag section is usually full of well-loved, well-worn bags with prices starting at $25 - which seems steep to me given that many of these bags have their fake leather literally about to peel off. The service here is fine, the folks who work here are friendly enough. For me, this is just and interesting place I'd go to kill some time, not a place I'd go expecting to buy anything.

It REEKED (and I can't put enough emphasis on the word reeked) absolutely stunk of cigarettes like nobodies business. The walls are baby blue, and the carpet is dark blue; to the left is home goods (cups, glassware, trinkets, decorations, old school finds), and to the right is a section full of the most creepiest looking toys (ones with big eyes that reminded me of chucky). The point I'm trying to make is that the atmosphere and vibe alone made me want to leave. I proved my mother right (so I thought) as to why I didn't want to go to any thrift shop in the first place. My reason for even being here in The first place is because I'm trying to do my bedroom over and my mom swears by HGTV who insists that thrift stores offer the best an unique buys.... I start looking, but everything seems to be crap. On top of that it's cold and smelly. That's when I discovered the back portion of the store!!! Well let me say that's when my eyed were open to the other side of the world "ones man trash is another man's treasure". The back contains clothes, shoes, and BAGS!! Bags galore...and cheap too!! I bought two bags for $18; the silver one $6 and the gold one $12. The gold bag I bought is like.something I've never seen before. The silver one is more a standard bag but it was $6 and I love it but its not a bag id normally.go and spend $30 at some random store. I saw many different brands here from h&m to gap, and even coach. The higher name brands they keep.behind glass, but I only recall one coach bag back there. As I went to.check out the only cash that could be scraped up was $16, two dollars short of what I owed. The lady didn't make me go across the street and pull cash, not did I have to put down one of the bags; she let me give her $16. I will definitely be back to go treasure hunting, but I'm not going to spread the good word as I want to keep this hidden gem all to my self! If you do happen to visit though, make sure you have cash...they don't take cards!!!
