I took my car in for an oil change. I was advised about the weight and the reason for that weight was explained to me in full for the first time ever. I had a new air filter and cabin filter to put in and they said no problem. The cabin filter I brought wasn't the right one, so I got one from them, and they also advised me that the wipers needed replacement, so I got that too, as well as the tire rotation. I was very happy to receive my bill which I gladly paid, and I was off! Footnote: I had previously taken my car to several places about a dull, low-grade noise, kind of a vibration, or even a rattle, that indicated to me something was loose somewhere. No one could find it and I was driving with it that way assuming it was permanent. When I started driving my car away from the oil change, I noticed it was gone. I had never mentioned it to them. It really makes a difference when the mechanics who work on your car know what they are doing. I am so happy with everything they did at this location! Thank You, Brake Masters! read more

Highly recommend! It is hard to find a good mechanic you can trust. The guys at Break Master on Wyoming are good at what they do and do only what is necessary. No high pressure to do unnecessary work. My car has over 170,000 miles and because of their work I have no fear driving it anywhere. I won't take my car anywhere else in Albuquerque. read more

This shop tried to scam me and destroyed my car after I called them out. I have a 2016 Toyota sienna that I needed a front strut replaced on. I had already changed the right side and ran out of time so I had to have a shop do the left side. I supplied parts and all I needed from them was labor. About an hour after I dropped it off they gave a call saying they removed the old strut and that the install fee was for 5.3 hours of labor and over $600. Keep in mind it's for one strut with provided parts. He said the all data database gave him that estimate and he couldn't charge anything else. I did one in an hour and a half in my garage so I didn't believe him and got a second opinion. I was given an all data print out for 1.7 hours for one strut around 300$. Brake masters tried to double charge and thought I wouldn't notice. After I told them no $600 was too much I would come pick up the car I don't want service, he tore the anti sway bar bushings and over torqued all the bolts causing excessive damage that I had to cover the cost for. 100% do not recommend and am warning everyone to stay away these people do not have your interests in mind. Second point. I just got new tires on because of a bad alignment so I also wanted an alignment done. A mechanic takes it for a test drive and while pulling into a bay he accelerates then stomps on the brakes. This causes the tires to lock up and skid slightly. The mechanic tells me that the A arms are destroyed and they can't do the alignment unless I also buy new a arms from them. He stomped on the brakes on a smooth shop floor and the tires skid a half inch or so, it honestly didn't look like they moved at all to me. (I worked at a car mechanic shop for 2 years) I think he was just lying and hoping we would pay so he could pocket some extra cash. My message to any future or returning customers is to stay very far away. These guys are crooks and will try their best to steal from you if you catch them they will trash your car and play it off like nothing happened. read more

Service here used to be good, but it has gone downhill. Signs point to hiring very inexperienced mechanics, but whatever it is, they really messed up my vehicle. Every time I took it in for service, I'd get it back in worse condition and with some other problem. Major fluid leaks, alternator mounted improperly, etc. I hope for the sake of other customers that the skills and knowledge of the staff improves. Almost 2 years ago I purchased the lifetime premium brakes from the San Mateo location. When I purchased this package I was told that I could bring in my car anytime I heard the brakes make ANY noise. Today (9/25/19) I'm at the Coors/I-40 location and have been told that I will have to pay labor costs because that package is good for 12,000 miles or 12 months whichever comes first. We all know (even me who knows absolutely nothing about cars) that brakes don't wear down that fast. I don't appreciate being deceived and if you don't either, I'd look somewhere else. Went in for new brake pads which is completely fine if that's all it was. The next day while driving to Pagosa Springs my brakes give out, come to find out I'm leaking brake fluid everywhere and the caliber was broken due to them. Now I'm out who knows how much and stuck in a small town trying to get this figured out. Vince was very knowledgeable about cars and we brought in a belt that we got from AutoZone because we did research online and they said that's probably the problem. Vince and his mechanics checked over our car and found out that an animal died on the belt and that's why it was running weird. I have mixed feelings about this place. The service was great because I was squeezed in last minute for a alignment. What they failed at was letting me know I didn't need an alignment. I recently had to get a new tire due to an unfortunate event with one of my fairly new set of tires. And the PSI in the tires weren't regarded. They were all off balance. So when I was driving on the highway, I was veering left. Anyway, I waited 1.5 hour for this alignment that I was charged for. When I left, there was no change. my car was still veering left. I called back and they told me to bring it back. I went to a different location and the manager there let me know the situation right away. He said my alignment was fine but the tires weren't balanced. I feel like if they had checked my car thoroughly before ever giving me the alignment, I could've avoided the extra trip and the $60 I spent. I don't know what happened here because they were so nice to other customers while I was waiting. Maybe because I'm a younger female so they thought they could easily get some money out of me. read more

Took my vehicle to get the brake pads changed out. BM changed the pads and worked on the rotors. Before I took my vehicle to get worked on it was driving just fine at speeds over 50 mph. After I got my vehicle back I took it to get to work. When I got to 45 MPH the car started shaking uncontrollably. When I called Brake Masters about the problem instead of offering to look at the work they had done they tried to convince me to pay them more money to get my wheels balanced. Balancing the wheels helped reduce the shaking by half. Now I have new brakes and a car the shakes constantly. This is otherwise known as a half assed job that will cost me hundreds of dollars to get fixed. Car was fine before just needed new brakes. read more

WARNING !! DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS! I had been going to BrakeMasters for almost 15 years - mostly because of convenience and habit. The coupons were an incentive, too. NEVER AGAIN. Last Saturday I took my car in for an oil change with a $15.95 coupon. The two hour wait was assuaged by the entertainment value of the street people who were allowed in the waiting room, afforded the use of the restroom for bathing and given free hot coffee. They didn't seem to be bothering the customers (except for the waiting line for the bathroom) and their antics were amusing and apparently condoned by the manager, Chris who maintained a running conversation with them until they decided to get back into traffic with their signs. Don't misunderstand. I have empathy for these people and the conditions that dictate their lifestyle but, as a business owner, I don't believe that enabling them is helping them or the image of my business. That's not the reason for my rant, however. When it came time to pay, my price was $24.64 - Nine dollars more than the coupon stated! (I understand that they charge extra for disposing the old oil and shop supplies, but nine dollars?) I questioned the price and I stated that my last oil change, with only a $19.95 coupon, was less money. This is when Chris, the manager, remarked about how petty I was for complaining about "a few dollars" and instructed me to insert my credit card in the machine so he could "get you (me) out of here" Later, I compared the itemization on my receipt with the one from my previous oil change and found that the charges were substantially different. For example, I was charged $18 for labor this time and only $8 last time. Like I stated earlier, I had been going to Brake Masters for many years and spent a lot of money for services for which their necessity is now in question. Last summer my brakes worked fine but started to squeak. I was told that I needed new brakes. On their advice, I purchased them but the same squeaking persisted. I brought the car back (twice) and was assured that there was nothing wrong with their parts or workmanship. They couldn't explain why the brakes still squeaked or justify the expense for new brakes that didn't fix the problem, however. My brakes still squeak but they also seem to be working okay so this isn't a priority issue but I will take my car somewhere else to diagnose and fix the problem. My faith in the quality of work and business ethics of Brake Masters has been destroyed! DON'T EXPECT "AN HONEST BRAKE" FROM THESE FOLKS read more

I've been here a couple of times for oil changes, and this is the first time I came to get my brakes replaced. The benefits of this place, like all the Brake Masters, are the coupons that one can print out and use. The wait time can vary and the mechanics are knowledgeable, but the management can be very rude. Like I mentioned before, I came in for brake repair and the manager suggested that I should replace the back brakes as well (emergency brakes) and that I needed to replace the front bearings because it was wearing, but he said that it would be about $500+. I didn't take his offer, so I just told him to replace the brake pads. He said that he could replace the brake pads for me, but since I needed the front wheel bearings replace, that he could not warranty the service. I will do a local business next time. read more

I took my car in for an oil change. As soon as I got to the next stop light the Low Oil Pressure light came on. I drove back to have them check it. The manager Vince tells me I need to take it to the car dealership. My car is less than a year old. He did nothing to try and trouble shoot the problem. I spoke to another manager named Jon who said he would check the oil pressure. I had to wait a week before they could do so. I had an appointment at 10am. When I get there Vince was clearly annoyed I had brought my car back. He said he knew the right oil was used. He then told me it would be a long wait even though I had an appointment. Worst customer service. No accountability. Was made to feel as if I was wasting their time. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

I took my car in for an alignment and I had the most wonderful customer experience! Chris was so nice and explained what shape my car was in and what needed to be adjusted. He also noted that my oil change notification was on and when I told him I didn't know how to reset it, he took the time to look it up and tell me how to so I doesn't stay on my dash all the time. I had my dog with me and he was so nice about letting him wait inside while I waited for my car to be ready. Then found the master cylinder to be unsafe not bad but unsafe. It has taken 2 days to do the nod. Arrived mid-morning on a Saturday without an appointment and was told there was just a 45-minute wait for an alignment, but that I could go and come back without losing my spot "in line". Sure enough, 44 minutes later, they took my car right in. Completed the job in about 45-minutes, honored the $20 savings coupon I didn't actually remember to get at the shop that sent me over, and walked me through the diagnostic computer printout, providing explanations for the terminology I wasn't familiar with. I definitely do not recommend this shop for your vehicle. I'm not one to want to complain or talk badly about shops, but my experience here was ridiculous enough that everyone interested in this shop should know. My brakes on my Silverado felt weird and I knew they probably needed to be changed. I saw all of the good reviews off of google maps and I went with it. The rotors, pads and drums were replaced. A week went by and they started squeaking. I brought them in. They cleaned and adjusted them. The squeaking came back time after time of doing this and got worse and worse. I brought the vehicle in three times for the same thing. The squeaking became unbearable. This shop never fixed the problem. I had brand new duralast parts put in by southwest speed. The issue immediately went away. I took the old parts back to this brakemasters to get a refund. It took a month and a half to get a third of what I originally paid them. They wouldn't give me any more. The manager was too much of a coward to own up to his shop's work and to talk to me himself. I'm not even money-hungry enough to pursue my entitled monetary compensation. I'm incredibly disappointed in the service and management. Do NOT Come Here. read more

I had a great time here. I was due for an oil change and have been needing my brakes checked. My front set is old and I figured I was due for a change as I recently did my back ones. Anyway, they got me right in, took like 30 or 45 minutes total. I got no upsells for new belts, headlight cleaner, and all the crap that Jiffy Lube usually pulls. I was honestly expecting to be told my brakes were about shot. Not so! They were honest and said they were 60% and fine for a while longer. The guys inside were very nice, chatted with me about where I was from. They have free bottled water and coffee too. This is my second great experience at a Brake Masters. I just wish they had more locations in other states. But then again they would probably end up turning into a crappy corporate station like Jiffy Lube or Firestone. read more

I have take my vehicle here 3 times to get my brakes fixed. They upsold me Roters and every time i go in they say I'm going to need a ton of more work. My car only has 90 k miles. The sales practices are unethical and i will not be back. Now my shocks are going out and the absorbers and other things. My mechanic in Ohio said he would have done it for $800, and I just called a local mechanic to see who I might use in the future, and his quote was $800. Went in for an alignment after a new set of tires. Was told they couldn't do an alignment because the front end needed a $1000 repair. I still have the quote sheet. I went to a front end specialist for a second opinion, who checked it out and couldn't find anything wrong, the good news is that the truck didn't even need an alignment yet.
