We lost our 20 year old son suddenly and so we were bogged down with grief, which makes decision making very difficult. Plus, who wants to come up with words that will be there forever to honor your pride and joy? In any case, we took probably 9 months and went through a dozen versions before settling on the final design. Angie was patient and kind throughout, and the finished headstone is perfect.

Wow! The service was Spectacular and their help was Incredible…read more We had met with Lincoln Memorial, where our sweet granddaughter was buried. Up until this point, Lincoln Memorial had been great to work with, and I highly recommend them as a cemetery -- you just need to get your marker elsewhere. Here's why: Lincoln Memorial wanted to charge a ridiculous price, plus charge an additional $450 because we wanted to design it. I might add one of the reasons we wanted to design it was because they don't have a clue what they are doing when it comes to designing, and can only come up with random, ugly text and one of a very small range of static stock vector images, which we did not like. So it was necessary to make our own design to actually honor Baby Jade. Lincoln Memorial also did not let us know that the green stone eventually turns yellow. In addition, they claimed that if we had a stone made elsewhere, it would not be guaranteed or cared for. We found out this is untrue. AFM guarantees the stone, and Lincoln Memorial is required by Oregon Law to care for the headstones. The stone we chose was 12 x 24, set vertically. Angie steered us away from green given its tendency to turn yellow. We picked blue. We sent Angie the custom design. She and her husband enhanced the little baby feet, found better butterflies and poppies (more detailed to reduce "negative space" where water would pool), inverted the graphic of the Rome Temple, did a sand blasting of that area which we just really loved, then after customizing it, they manufactured, delivered and set a truly Beautiful headstone for less than $1000 (including the fees that Lincoln Memorial charges for having someone else make it and set it). AFM did not charge any fees for custom artwork. It was all included in their pricing, as was the fee for delivering and setting the stone. What a relief to finally have the Beautiful Memorial stone finished for Jade. Cannot wait to see it after the install. So grateful we found AFM!! Highly recommend!

We had just lost my granddaughter unexpectedly, and he was so wonderful in walking us through the grief to determine next steps and get through a truly difficult time. We had never buried a child before and felt overwhelmed and unsure of what we needed to do. Dennis helped us make a checklist so that we could accomplish everything they needed us to do, as well as knowing what we had to do over at Lincoln Memorial where she would be buried. He was super respectful. He even took the time to wrap the baby and bring her to a room so that I could see her (it was necessary for the Service to be closed casket, but I lived out of State, so this was my only chance to see my newborn grandchild that died unexpectedly at birth). Going that extra mile meant so much to me. We were able to navigate through the tears and sadness, pick out a casket that Jade could be buried in (without needing an additional vault), and receive the help we needed with putting together the Graveside Service and the programs. I designed the inside and back of the programs, and sent them as individual jpgs, and Andrea was kind enough to place them properly so they would print out. They turned out beautifully. We delivered a handmade dress, hat, tights, booties and a blanket and pillow for her to be buried with, along with a note to go inside her little casket. While we never saw her in it, I am sure they provided great care in dressing her tiny little body and placing her little head to rest on the soft satin pillow. On the day of the Service, Andrea arrived with baby Jade, set up the podium and guest book, along with the casket stand. She was helpful in directing the pallbearers and was very kind. We appreciated not only the compassion and helpfulness that was shown during this very unexpected time of grief, but also that Mt. Scott Funeral Home provides all of their services at their Cost for babies that die at birth, which really helped to $ave us money, and that was so helpful. This included all expenses -- the casket as well. What a kind and tremendous difference this made. We highly recommend Mt. Scott Funeral Home and are very, very grateful to Dennis and Andrea! We also respectfully and highly recommend Lincoln Memorial Park as a cemetery (with stunning views, no less), and Affordable Family Markers for the most cost effective and beautiful Family Markers. Please see related reviews for both companies. We are thankful for them all!

First we drove into Gate 1 which must have been the original entrance. There was an old, beautiful building that was locked - we were told later that it used to be the main building but they now have a new building that is more updated. We did drive around at the first area which was absolutely beautiful. There were many trees and old graves. We exited the park and drove around to the main entrance and noticed how very large the park is. We were there during the summer where they limit water use. Very much like the other cemeteries we visited, most of the grassy areas were brown. In the fall and winter the rains apparently make it lush and green. We met with Jesze Moloney who was so very kind. He drove us thru the park, showing us the different areas and pointing out the plots that were available and we went over prices. It was very clear to us which area our father would have picked - the Imperial area complete with a pagoda and water fountain - the area was apparently designed with the help of a Feng Shui expert. Jesze walked us through the whole process and bent over backwards to help us thru everything. We are so grateful to him for making the process as smooth as possible. On the day of the funeral, they did a lovely set up in the pagoda per our request. We appreciated the individual tissue packages on each chair. Jesze made sure that our flowers remained on the grave site and sent us photos. He's a true gem of a human and having him by our side thru this difficult time was a true gift.

My mom was on hospice for 8 days, I provided the hospice with Cornerstone's name when the time came. Elizabeth and her team came to the house to pick up my mother, it was a very dignified and lovely parting knowing my mom was leaving in the care of Cornerstone. Elizabeth is a one woman show and still is able to be super responsive and on top of it all. She is very professional, friendly, incredibly compassionate, and deeply dedicated to her profession. Prices are affordable and transparent. Cornerstone has been in business over 20+ years and Elizabeth has been a mortician for over 30+ years. While my family and I only used cremation, Cornerstone offers a variety of options: Green Burial, Visitations, Burial Services, Funeral Services, Eco-Friendly Water Cremation, Gift of Life, Witness Cremation, Military Honors, and Natural Organic Reduction. There is NO cookie cutter approach to death and what the next steps are. You can create a celebration of life on your terms, or whatever your loved one expressed before they passed. In addition to her steadfast work as a funeral director, Elizabeth wrote The Green Burial Guidebook, gave a TEDx talk called, "Going Green: The Last Act of Environmental Volunteerism", and is the voice of the autopsy exhibit in the forensic wing at the United States National Museum of Medicine. She worked with Herland Forest in Washington to steward the first natural organic reduction human composting. In closing, sure I could have just written a simple 5-star review and listed the details of how Elizabeth and Cornerstone assisted me with my mother's cremation, but I felt they are so deserving of you knowing how incredible they are and all their services. There is simply no other choice when it comes to funeral services.

My only complaint would be that my loved one died on a Saturday morning. I tried to contact them on Sunday during business hours and spoke with someone who said a funeral director would call me back, but no one did. However, once I called on Monday and spoke directly with a funeral director, everything proceeded smoothly from there. All the paperwork is done on-line. Their prices are good, a big part of this is likely because the office on Millikan (in the City Hall Building in the Beaverton Round) is apparently just a small office with low overhead. The cremation is done through Riverview Abbey. It was done quickly and I was able to pick them up at the Millikan office (you can also pick up at Riverview Abbey). They can mail them to you as well. Obtaining death certificates through them was also easy, as was getting an obituary posted to their website. They are very professional, responsive, and happy to help.
