As you walk in this restaurant you see a special fridge where the steaks are dry-ageing. This also restaurant also trains other restauranteurs how to utilise these fridges to best effect. Steaks have an extra level of finesse to their flavour, above the standard I've had from capital city restaurants with a higher price tag. Quality of surrounding menu and wine-list to match. Service similarly good; standard varying from person to person. Several dinning rooms, all having a relaxed atmosphere. Anyway, I'd stopped here a couple of times in the past but I decided to check this place out again. The first thing that struck me is that they do things differently in the country - for instance if you are in a pub in the city (by yourself), and you go to the toilet then you can be guarenteed that your beer will not be there when you return - not so in the country. In fact they find it rather odd if you bring your beer with you. As for the pub, it was okay. You can't take the beers out the front like you used to, however they do have a ramshackle beer garden out the back - namely some tables with some tins for ashtrays. The restaurant was pretty crowded when I came here, though the front bar not so much. I'd probably come back here though, namely because of the memories of driving past it on the way to Melbourne.
