I have been working and living in Banff for a year and a half. This is the place I come to just…read morechill and get warm on my shopping trips downtown. I have library cards from both Calgary and Banff. I must say that althrough the collection is small, interlibrary loans make getting certain books faster compared to getting the same books in Calgary. I looked up the same title in both libraries and Calgary has 60 holds for half as many copies. Banff and its system of small town libraries have 14 copies available to borrow. The only downside is that all holds are interlibrary loans, as there is only one location in Banff and therefore loans take longer to arrive. My only suggestion would to open an hour earlier , i.e 9 am instead of 10am. This way I have ample time to pick up holds and head up back to work . My schedule doesn't allow me to visit the library at all on the days that I work. Their hours are pretty much my hours. On my days off I go back to Calgary and have to catch 10:30am bus so I just have enough time to pick up a hold before I head to the bus station. But that's not on the library, that's on the crappy bus schedule we have in the winter. In the summer I would have enough time to go pick up a hold before heading back to work. It sucks that on Saturday they open even later at 11am so I can't even go pick up a book because my bus leaves before that. Aside from hours I think this library is pretty good.

My snowboard gear has been lost for 15 months. I don't believe it was lost because it had a tracking number and a barcode to Scan if it was ever found. They're rude to…read morecustomers, provide bad service, etc. Granted, many postal workers may be overworked, but that's still no excuse for bad customer service, in any industry. The people who work at this branch however, are fantastic! I'm one of those guys that likes to online shop. Like, A LOT. But, since I'm usually out and about during the day (working, volunteering, or Yelping ;-) ), I'm usually never home when the mail delivery person shows up, meaning that I often have to go to the post office to pick things up (which kind of defeats the purpose of home delivery, in my opinion, but what can you do?). Since this is the outlet designated to me (as I live in the area), I'm often here at least once every week or two. It's gotten to the point where I just have to stand in line and as soon as the staff see me, they know I'm probably there for a pick-up, and most likely for multiple packages at a time. I have received nothing but great service here. It's gotten to the point where I've arrived so often to pick up things that the various staff now know me by name, but even before then, the staff working here were always courteous to me and others. This is a stand-alone (i.e. not built within a store) branch located within Marlbourough Mall, and their hours are Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. While I'm happy that they have service on the weekend, my only complaint is that they shut down at 5:30 during weekdays. Due to work and other volunteer commitments elsewhere in the city, sometimes I just can't make it back in time for the cutoff, yet the mall is usually open until 9 p.m. I really wish they'd close at 7 or 7:30 p.m. or ideally, at mall close as well. But that's really my only beef with the place. It's a government run facility after all, and they may not have much of a choice. It may be a weird establishment to write a review on, but if you live in the area or need access to some kind of mail service through Canada Post, this is a great outlet to use.
