This church claims they are a family, that they are there for their members no matter what. IT'S A…read moreCOMPLETE LIE! I joined this church in spring, 1998. At that time, I was living in an abused woman's shelter with my 4 small children, overcoming an abusive marriage. So I was a single parent. At that time, off and on throughout the years, I would ask the church for assistance with utilities or food, etc. because we fell on hard times from time to time. I paid my tithe and offering faithfully, and when I was able, I would give a little extra to show my gratitude. This was when Pastor Wright was senior pastor. But then, in 2009, one of my daughters became pregnant. She wasn't married yet, she eventually married my grandchild's father, but people in this church chastised her and ridiculed her for having a baby out of wedlock. From that time until now, she refuses to go to church any more. When she told me what happened, I confronted the few individuals that said these negative things to her, and I too stopped going to this church for 10 years. But after my car accident in 2019, surprising the church helped me financially and I was grateful. So I started attending again. Fast forward to the present, on September 26th, I and my son were in the middle of preparing to move into a new residence. Another home owner, whom we were initially going to rent from but changed our minds, refused to give our security deposit back. I contacted HUD an about this, and they made this individual give our money back. The day we were supposed to sign our lease and get our keys, the lady didn't give our money back as agreed. For two days, she would string us along. Finally, on October 1st, she refunded our money, but the owner of our new home got tired of waiting, and changed his mind. We lost our house. Unfortunately, it was too late when we received the refund. Long story short, I asked the church to please help us with the security deposit before this happened, and I even said I'd refund the money once we received the money back or we would lose our new home. The church admin pastor told me that because the church helped me and my family off and on for several years, they refuse to help us any more. I pleaded for their help and stressed the severity of the situation, that we are in jeopardy of becoming homeless. It fell on deaf ears. So we lost our home and have been homeless since October 1st, 2024. I even contacted a few members who lived near our old residence, and asked if my son and I could stay with them for a week or two, just long enough to get our bearings and secure another property or at least figure out our living options. They all told us no. No one has checked on us (I'm talking about the pastoral staff - senior pastor, elders, etc.) and asked how we're doing. It's November 2nd, and my son and I are living in our car. This church would rather see us living in our car than help us. Needless to say, I cannot support a church who would allow their members to live in their car than help them. I don't care how many times they've helped me in the past. Our situation was/is severe, and they could care less. But they'll keep us in prayer.......(that's the response I get). There are a few members who I know personally who have checked on me and my son, but the pastoral staff, they could care less about our well being. That really hurt my heart that they treat their "family members" in this way. It really opened my eyes and gave me a serious reality check. So just know that this church is not what it's cracked up to be. If you want a show, by all means go, you'll have a good time. But don't hold your breath if you need help other than prayer..... Needless to say, I've stopped going to church period. And I'm sure they'll read this review and try to justify their decision, but at the end of the day, when they face Jesus, they'll have to explain their actions to Him....... Hope this helps in your decision to go or not

I found hearing babies cry and kids running around distracting and annoying. There was a time I was once that kid who had a short attention span who probably annoyed someone else. The circle of life is complete. The Catholics is very much the same as I remember it when delivering the message of Christ. The monotone voice of the priest and the repeative music except for the end song wasn't memorable for me. To me, church should be memorable as well as spiritual and I did not feel it with this church. The standing to sitting to kneeling to standing got old real fast. You might be thinking, "that's the way it's done buddy boy." Well this isn't necessarily true. Nevertheless, each holy place is it's own and I can appreciate the look of the church. The fact that there is Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, Filipino and Black prayers to read was most enlightening. I did begin to wonder if the Communion  was going to happen. I wondered if health regulations from Covid-19 would change they way the Church does this, but from what I saw, various members of the church pasted out the body of christ without gloves. Whether or not their hands were sanitized or not, I can not say. I found this a little disturbing. I did not see anyone drink the blood of Christ other than the priest. I watched him wipe down the cup, but I was still thinking about germs if that is all that is down between services. More goes on that I don't see, but my mind went there when I saw bare hands touching the body of Christ without gloves. As a kid I remember being offered the body of Christ and The Blood of Christ. How times have changed. At the Journey Church, the body of Christ and The Blood Of Christ are individually wrapped in one small container. They offer the choice of gluten free body and blood of Christ too. I found this to be more acceptable than the ladder. I saw three people people of African American decent, but that is about all. When visiting different churches, you see different things. This church isn't bad, but I can't say it is my cup of tea. I don't know if we will be back to this Church or not. I guess I will find out next week. I am not as spiritual as my wife wishes me to be, but learning new things and seeing new churches are always fun to me now. Not so much when I was a kid.

I have a biased view, as a member for about 17 years and as a former active elder at this church…read more So keep that in mind. If you are looking for a church whose message confuses God-worship for a certain political viewpoint, or the attractive but false message that man is the measure of all things and man can solve his own problems without divine involvement, you should look somewhere else. And, if you are looking for a church that minimizes humanity's ability, whether through honest science or through social benevolence, to improve his own lot, this isn't the place for you. This church strives to address not only the spiritual, but also the material needs that exists in its surrounding community and throughout the world. Faith is not expressed through blind commitment but by by verifiable actions. Churches are imperfect representations of God's kingdom on Earth because they are all made up of people whose sin and whose moral failings qualify them for exclusion from that kingdom. And also qualifies them for God's grace. I know this church well; I know its warts. And this is a 5-star review. Five stars, because this is what I'm most confident in saying above all: If you want to hear about the gospel of Jesus Christ and the salvation he offers to every person alive through accepting what he did on the cross as his free gift to you as the way to eternal happiness, you will not be disappointed. I am a Christian who unashamedly believes that the Old and New Testaments are God's word. So I can offer no higher praise than this.

The church body is filled with singles, families and young military families, and very transparent. NO STUFFY PEOPLE here. If you feel that most churches are hard to fit in, you will find a superb fit here. I would say most people here are very casual, earthy but truly love the Lord and love serving people! Even the pastors are so easy to relate to and know, wow. Friendly is putting it mildly.
