It's funny when our parents get older and their special days come along-say Mothers Day or…read morebirthdays, Christmas maybe and one of the hardest things to do is to figure out what to give your parent for these special days. Over the years I've gone the entire gamut with her gifts-jackets-shoes-sweaters-electronics-religious statues-jewelry but then one year I discovered Golden Island Massage in Vallejo. What I discovered there was a $49.99 Gift Certificate that they sell there that gives a person a 30 minute body massage followed by a 30 minute foot massage. So a few years back I picked up three of these bad boys and gave them to my mother for Mother's Day. To say she was thrilled to the moon and back is an understatement-so when her birthday rolled around in December,I picked up three more gift certificates from Golden Island Massage. She loved her birthday gift just as much. So now every year on Mother's Day and her birthday in December I pick her up three gift certificates and the six total pretty much cover her massage needs for the entire year. It's perfect and the stress of gift giving someone who has everything has forever been solved. As far as the purchasing process, it's pretty simple. I generally just drive to their spot-they have ample parking as they are in a very busy shopping center anchored by Target and many other businesses. Once inside, the helpful employees fill out old-school gift certificates and I throw them in a card and give them to my mother-easy peasy!! So if you're ever in the Vallejo area and looking for a gift idea for those hard-to-shop-for friends or relatives-consider a Gift Certificate from Golden Island Massage. It's the kind of gift people really enjoy.

I opted to give the tip at the end. 2) upon entering my room, the sheets were damp so I felt a bit cold. If anything the sheets to lay in and drape over you should've been dry. Freshly warmed sheets and a heated table are even better. 3) the lady sneezed a few times in the room and even though my eyes were closed I don't think she sanitized her hands. Thankfully at this point, the drape was on me so she didn't touch my skin after sneezing. 4) although I walked out relaxed and the massage therapist got some knots out, about an hour later, my upper back felt a new kind of pain and feels out of adjustment. She adjusted me towards the end and I didn't expect that. I don't think they're supposed to do that. She was nice and the hot stones were great but the few details such as damp sheets, sneezing without disinfecting your hands.

I've been coming here on and off for about 10 years. Let me be clear: this is not your high-end…read moremassage or luxury reflexology spot nor does it claim to be in any way. It's dated, dim, in a less-than-glamorous strip mall, and it can get ridiculously loud when staff answer the phone or greet walk-ins while they're working on you. Inconvenient, yes but I can look past that. So why do I keep coming back when I've had some of the best massages elsewhere? Because this is the only place that gets my plantar fasciitis to shut TF up. Specifically -- the owner (or at least I think he is). He's the one who usually greets you at the door and works the front desk. I come back because of him. When I ask for hard pressure, he goes HARD -- like clench-your-glutes hard -- and he keeps the pressure consistent the whole time. He gets deep into the bound fascia in a way that very few people ever do, fancy spa or not. So yes, I'll keep coming back whenever my feet are screaming for help. I pop in my AirPods, bring a little patience and flexibility, and let him work his magic.

So when Coco started my 2-hour session and asked what kind of pressure I wanted, I said: extra hard, please. And she did not hesitate. The first hour honestly felt like a full-on wrestling match (in the best way). Elbows working overtime, digging into every knot and layer of tension I've been carrying around. She may be small-framed, but the strength and control? Next level. I know some people feel a certain way about these Asian reflexology-style spots, but I don't discriminate -- because every once in a while, you find a someone who truly delivers. Coco is that person. After she worked on one side of my back, I had to stop and ask for her name so I could make sure I request her again. What stood out most was her understanding of leverage, pressure, and muscle release. She knew exactly how to find the hidden tension points and work through them. And when she hit areas that were especially tender, she adjusted -- shifting to slower, more controlled movements. At times, her rhythm even synced with my breathing, which helped the muscles release even more. That level of awareness? Rare. This is not a gentle, fall-asleep kind of massage -- and that's exactly what I want. I go for real work, to break through tightness and pain, and Coco delivered. If you're looking for a deep, no-nonsense massage that gets into those stubborn knots, Coco is your person. Yes, it's not for everyone -- and that's okay. But for me? I'll absolutely be back to see Coco.

I like to get 90 mins full body, the 90 min foot reflexology is also good but do the excellent prices, best to go full body. My friends love doing the four hand massage. I like to do girls gathering"spa day" here once a year while we all get massages at the same time then walk around downtown and grab lunch, Really, you can't go wrong. It's a gem of a place with great owners. I see some negative comments about tips, but it makes me appreciate the owner more for speaking up for fair tips and advocating for their staff. I always tip at least 30% (or more) because the therapists are the most skilled and really deserve it.

The lady in front is cold very cold, pushy and uncomfortably direct. They ask how much to tip which you shouldn't ask, should give receipt to decide how much willingly want to tip. Isn't that what a tip is? The lady in front points to a sign saying basically what we must tip through her nonverbal manners. I was coerced to giving more than I wanted because it was what was "recommended." I even think my therapist deserved what she wanted me to give but it was the approach ! I even asked her name so I can come back and request her because every therapist is very different and I would want to come for the same therapist and would go out of my way to fit her schedule but "they don't give out names, you get who you get." I only came here because I had a gift card and came from Hercules. I would only come back if I could get the same therapist and not have to deal with that lady in front. They all deserve the price they want but just set it at that price don't coerce a customer to "tipping" your minimum "recommendation." Set your prices with what you want minimally because the quality and service matches and just get rid of tipping altogether so a customer does not feel coerced and unsatisfied leaving.
