Instead of explaining right off the bat that I would need two separate appointments the woman answering the phone starts telling me what they do and do not do there, although I have been there before. We had a whole convoluted conversation about what the doctor would and would not do, just because I assumed the visits could be combined for efficiency, at the end she then tells me they don't do those appointments at the same time. It's fine that they didn't combine the appointments, but I still need both appointments and she just needed to explain that or offer me a double time slot. Anyway I'm not dealing with that, I can't be the first patient that ever needed to separate visits and needed clarification.

Finally, after days of a chest cold and having no intent of driving into the City I broke down and went to see Dr. Aasmaa. I am now a believer! First of all, they had an appointment available next day which was great. Secondly, the front office staff was so pleasant and helpful I thought I died (pun intended) and went to medical heaven. The icing cake was Dr. Aasmaa herself. She was knowledgeable, patient and quite the listener. Her compassion was amazing and she genuinely wanted to hear how I was feeling and how she could help get me better!!!! Now for the negative. Well...there is no negative. It keeps getting better. I needed a prescription renewal and it was approved immediately for the mail in drug company. I had a side effect of an drug and her partner in the practice called me back in 5 minutes and wasn't even remotely annoyed. It makes me almost want to get sick again just to see Dr. Aasmaa - however this is crazy...I know...I know.

I went with her to one of her appointments to understand why she didn't like him. I saw firsthand his complete lack of bedside manner. He was unprofessional, talked over her, didn't listen to her complaints about ongoing pain and discomfort, and dismissed her concerns altogether. My mom had her last appointment with him today, and she found it completely HORRIBLE. She is still experiencing pain in her entire arm from a fall that occurred at the end of January while at work. All this doctor did was prescribe physical therapy and provide a subpar letter stating "light duty," even though there isn't such work available at her job. Dr. Shamash refused to conduct any follow-up X-rays or MRIs to investigate potential injuries to her shoulder beyond the fracture in her elbow. My mom is in her 60s; she is not in her 20s or 40s, where healing might occur within a few weeks. Something is wrong if her hand continues to swell, and her arm remains painful even after three months! She described him as rude, stating that he told her there was nothing more he could do for her and suggested she find another job. IS HE SERIOUS? She even mentioned that he sarcastically asked her if he should prescribe therapy five days a week. How this doctor has high ratings is beyond me. It must be from his colleagues and friends.

I have never had to wait, they have called me if an appointment could not happen or had an incredible wait (very, very infrequently, but it happens), I have never seen a pharmaceuticals rep in there ever (granted, it is no longer cricket for them to offer a free trip to Hawai'i any longer, but that's fine with me. My doctor is Dr. Frank Iannetta, and he has been so for the time I have gone there. I love him; he took a lot of time to learn about adult-onset muscular dystrophy (DM Type II), always offers advice, looks into any question I have, not religious and always has a laugh with me over so many different issues outside of medicine. He listens, chats, but is serious and totally qualified to help with anything. Another excellent quality is that Changebridge has relationships with so many other types of specialty medical practices that I have gotten audiology, podiatry, cardiac, pain management and so many other kinds of help. I take almost no medications (the list is 6 now, not 10 and far less than the amounts I've been on). I also go to PT three times a week, and I feel just INCREDIBLE! I go primarily to Dr. Iannetta, but any doctor there is just wonderful. My husband and I both go; he really likes to go to Dr. Pallay, who is very medically knowledgeable, but he is focused on the medicine and not a "chat" kind of doc; I love Dr. Iannetta because he is the exact opposite. Both kinds as well as everyone in-between is right for many patients. None of the doctor or nurses are any the less gifted in medicine. I know all the staff (for the most part) and speak to them all with delight. I enjoy every person there. They all bring something special to the experience. They do a lot for any patient. I cannot recommend them enough. I would not even know where to begin with how much they have done for me over...I think more than 30 years. We have lived in Parsippany now for 32 years. I discovered that nowadays, you're hard-pressed to find individual doctors, so I went for the clinic, and CMA seemed to have good reviews. Since then, I've had a few physicals, gone in a few times with illnesses. Every time, I have been treated well, promptly, curing whatever I came in with and helping with whatever they find. So like today? Just the physical? They reassured me most of my vitals were fine, pointed to the one that was a little out of whack, and presented suggestions for how to fix it. Sat patiently with me to discuss until we were on the same page. VERY friendly and thorough. And that even goes to the desk staff. I have never had a bad experience with any person at CMA, never had a misdiagnosis or the wrong meds. Nothing. OK, a couple of times I got a charge for the blood work they did, but this time I think we've learned, tell them up front it's diagnostic and not preventative. Again, even the separate-building blood lab (which I think moved into a new, larger space) is friendly and helpful. #CMA4EVA

I'm now looking for recommendations for another good PCP in Morris Township where the office staff cares for the patients as much as the doctor.
