Not going to visit this establishment if can be helped. My mother-in-Law bought a brand-new battery…read moreabout two weeks ago because her old battery was bad, and she was having trouble starting her car in the cold. The car was still having starting issues so they brought it to their dealership to find out what was wrong, guessing that it could be starter since just purchased new battery recently. The dealership hooked it up to Diagnostic machine and did their tests. The battery is bad, not holding a charge. So, my mother-in-law brought the battery back to Deep Rock. Chad, the mechanic, refused to replace the battery, stated no warranty. Absolutely refused to do anything unless he could hook the whole car up to their diagnostic machine and was going to charge my mother-in-law the diagnostic fee. Yes, I get wanting to check the battery to confirm, I do. But he could have just tested the battery and said okay this is not working let's take care of this. No need to get all upset and refuse to even check the battery. All that was being requested was to replace the battery that was not working the way it should. So, my mother-in-law is stuck paying for another battery as part of her repair at the dealership.

All of a sudden, we heard a grinding sound and either the transmission or drive shaft went out. We were stuck near Moose Lake & still had over 100 miles to go to get home to St. Paul. I have AAA coverage for both my vehicle and camper. So I called AAA and they dispatched David from Deep Rock Recovery & towing. We were surprised by how quickly he responded! He was literally there within 20 minutes. He got the Jeep and RV hooked up in record time. When we called AAA, they said the driver was unable to transport us due to Coronavirus restrictions. However, David noticed our dilemma in getting home and agreed to transport us (dogs included). We all made it safely back to St. Paul. David was so friendly, professional & courteous. He never even complained about the high level of traffic, heading back to the city after the holiday weekend. Thank you to David, AAA & Deep Rock Towing for coming to our rescue when we were in need!

I write about other out of the way small town convenience gas-stores and check back later to see after five years its' still just my one review. What would Yelp do without me? That brings us to this mass of pavement in Hinkley, a busy spot on I-35 for people most likely traveling between Duluth and St Paul. The last numbered pump was 26 which was my first choice, yes first. Read On. Pump is beeping and won't reset, no intercom that I could find to call in. Move to another pump. 25, diesel only, back one more 24. Tells me I have to use a credit card with a chip..yes It does have a chip! Try again, "card declined". Wait wait wait for reset, can't see anything on the grey screen. Bang it timed out and reset, try another card and this time it works. In other locations I've had their pumps lock up because I couldn't get out of the first mode asking for a rewards number. There is supposed to be a skip button but how can we see it if the SCREEN IS GREYED OUT? Head inside for coffee which is now freshly made by the machine which all the gas stations and small stores have. I think I miss employee made coffee fresh every 30 minutes kept in air pots. I realize this is a huge saving on employees time. Fresh sandwiches to go and all is well. Do I dare try my first card with the cashier? Nah, good ol' fashioned green bills work just fine. The matronly woman was happy and friendly and I'm glad she didn't call me "Hon".
