I had a flat tire and stopped in on my spare. It was cold, dark and kind of late and I was greeted with kindness, Nick took my tire out of my trunk, checked all my tires, pumped up my spare, put new wiper blades on my car and found the problem with my tire. Fabulous service and I will be coming back there again. Plus every time I get gas, they always have coupons. The entire staff is friendly and helpful, I was really impressed. Very honest too! Absolutely do not bring your cars to get serviced here! I was having intermittent starting problems and so I dropped my 2000 VW Jetta Automatic Sedan off here a month ago to get fixed. I asked them do you have a VW specialist to look at my car and they said, "yes." The car did not start for them. So, they replaced my starter. After one week I had the same issue of the car not starting and again a week later but I got it to start every other time I needed it. It would crank but not turn over. I called the shop and they made me an appointment to bring it in to check it. I brought my car to the appointment with suggestions as to what I thought might actually be wrong. I was told by the service manager that I was wrong and that what I was suggesting didn't have anything to do with starting the car. Quoting the Service Manager "There are no sensors that have anything to do with starting your car." I suggested, crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor, and battery. I chose not to leave my car with them again because of how my suggestions were shot down. My car acted up again this week and again today. I brought the car to a VW specialist and they did a computer diagnostic and battery load test right in front of me. Both of my suspicions of the sensors and battery were confirmed in the computer codes. North Suburbans Service Manager actually admitted they did not run a computer diagnostic. I asked North Suburban to refund the money for the service which did not solve my initial car issue. They refused and only have warranty on the part that they replaced. So I would be paying for any new parts that they would find and service but would not be refunded for the starter work that they previously did if the starter isn't the problem. They also told me that they don't trust my word that the car isn't actually working as of today. And to top it off, the last thing the manager stated was "Good luck taking us to small claims court and I hope you do write the BBB." #smugashell PS. I have it in writing from the VW specialist that there is such a thing as a sensor preventing the car from starting. read more

I would not recommend this place for anything. Calling them crooks would not be a stretch. They wanted to charge $1,200 to replace a 4 ft of break line to fix a leak. The same repair at Tires Plus cost me $149. They supposedly checked other things and charged me $70 (with their labor rate of $139/hr) to diagnose the obvious problem which I had already knew and told them. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. read more

Do not go, period. It used to be a good place for oil change and stop by for occasional problem a few years ago. Just imagine when they put a wheel on your car and not tighten the bolts! They have all kind of excuses but to admit their mistake. I would forgive if they admitted it. It becomes a very very unprofessional place, not worth for your time or money. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! My mom took her car here for an oil change and they called her and told her that she needed $2300 in repairs for struts and a charcoal canister. When my husband called they sent us a quote saying that they were able to bring it down to $1800. Fishy. We took the car to our mechanic to take a look and NOTHING was wrong with the struts!!! I then called to talk to Scott who sent us the quote and asked him how he knew the struts were bad? He then went on to tell me that the rubber was all torn up on them when they had the car up and were checking it out. At that point I told him that we took the car in to our mechanic and he told us that everything looked great with the struts and they are fine!!! Weird! He then said, "Well the car should have the struts changed with because of the mileage." It is a 2003 Toyota with 84,000 on it. I then go on to say, "You just told me that the rubber was all torn up!" He really didn't want to talk about the struts anymore and wanted to focus on the charcoal canister and mileage. How do these people sleep at night knowing that they take advantage of people, let alone a woman in her 60's?!?! Unbelievable. DO NOT TRUST THIS SHOP! read more
