They were nice enough to to point me nextdoor to Skyland Exxon to put my spare on (so I can honor my tire warranty when I get back home.) Skyland Exxon put my spare on (for less than $10!) and then, as they were backing the car out, were unhappy with the sound it was making... turns out one of the brake caliper bolts was MISSING! I've never been so happy to have a flat tire in my life! But the point, really, is that I love 'small businesses' run by real people! Togar's, Firestone and Exxon!

It's only about a mile from I-26 / US 74. If coming from the highway, take exit 33 for NC 191 / Blue Ridge Parkway. On a Sunday morning around 11am, this gas station and convenience store were busy with a variety of customers including families with children and out-of-towners like us. We even ran into our Airbnb hosts. I guess this place is befitting of its name. I'd never heard of the Hot Spot chain before this visit. At the time of writing this review, there are about 40 locations in the Carolinas. They're mostly in South Carolina, with multiple locations in the greater Greenville, Spartanburg, and Asheville areas. In North Carolina, I spend most of my time in the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) and Triad (Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point). There are no Hot Spots in those areas. I pass through Greenville and Spartanburg regularly on my trips to and from Georgia. However, I almost always fill up at a QuikTrip along I-85. It looks like there are only a couple Hot Spots along I-85 on that stretch. This Hot Spot has eight pumps. Apart from the branding, I can't say too much separates this place from other gas stations and convenience stores. It's run-of-the-mill, but also A-OK. I'd fill up here again. The price for premium fuel was in line with other more expensive gas stations like BP and Shell. The property felt clean and safe enough.

You heard a loud crunching sound which was my skid plate that they forgot to attach. Had me back up and attached it and said all was good. They attached that skid plate with zip ties. A little over a month later it's falling off. It was damaged. Parts and labor cost me $250 to replace it. When I went to them with the Bill, they told me that they were not at fault. Once again, do not go there.

The station itself was clean and well-kept, with no clutter or confusion. The pump worked smoothly, and the receipt printer didn't give me any grief--always a small victory. No issues here at all. They put one on and only a couple hours later the tire blew( more like crumbled ) because it was dry rotted, while he was driving it. Luckily nobody was hurt , but check the comments for the picture, this could have went really really bad on the highway and with an inexperienced child driver. We called and they said they would absolutely not refund us or even give us half back but if they had the right size tire in stock they would give us a replacement but of course turned around and said they don't have that size tire. So basically we are out of luck.

I have to imagine it's owned by an actual mom and pop who have been in the convenience store game forever. The gas pumps are straight 80's style. Rotating numbers, no digital displays, and if you want to pay with a card you have to head inside. You get your choice of gas though, unleaded, unleaded, or unleaded. I like this spot. It's a great place to run to if I run out of half and half, or beef jerky, or pringles. The staff is always ultra pleasant and sweet. The funny thing is, I only head here while the sun is up. For some reason I find myself heading to other convenience stores. I feel like they close earlier than your standard gas station. The sodas on ice at the front by the check out counter are a serious nice touch.

Always went here for my oil change for decades, no problems other than always messing up my tire…read morepressure, however, the last time the guy obviously overtightened the oil drain plug because the next day I had oil spots on my driveway, so I looked under my car to discover a leak coming from the oil pan area. Zero spots on my driveway before and the next day spots where I was parked. My car is new straight, from a dealership and I had only been driving it for less than six months, so I took it back to the dealership to have them inspect it and they said it was from over torquing the drain plug, and replacement was the only option to stop the leak because the plug was stripped. Apparently, you have to replace more than just a simple plug when that happens, so I had to pay $1000 out of pocket with the labor! Zero issues before, as my car is new, and $1000 plus the price of the oil change for trusting this Valvoline for my oil change. I called Valvoline corporate and they said that they have tools that are designed to stop over torquing, but obviously that's not true in every situation because my car was certainly an exception. My friend who used to manage the Valvoline said it did still happen occasionally and it's not fool proof. Corporate basically told me I had no proof it was them. Why would I have no oil dripping in the previous 6 months and the next day oil in my driveway?! The dealership even wrote on my print out receipt that it was obvious what happened, but corporate said yeah, but you don't have proof. How else can I? So, basically, I paid $1100 for an oil change at this Valvoline. Obviously NEVER AGAIN!
