Gas-Up occupies a wedge corner in West Asheville.
This place looks, and smells, like it has been here forever. I have to imagine it's owned by an actual mom and pop who have been in the convenience store game forever.
The gas pumps are straight 80's style. Rotating numbers, no digital displays, and if you want to pay with a card you have to head inside. You get your choice of gas though, unleaded, unleaded, or unleaded.
I like this spot. It's a great place to run to if I run out of half and half, or beef jerky, or pringles.
The staff is always ultra pleasant and sweet.
The funny thing is, I only head here while the sun is up. For some reason I find myself heading to other convenience stores. I feel like they close earlier than your standard gas station.
The sodas on ice at the front by the check out counter are a serious nice touch. read more
