However, today I was near the Kroger and needed to fill up after grocery shopping and before heading to Cleveland at the butt crack of dawn the next day. For a Sunday around noon, the place was relatively empty - NO WAIT. Boo yah. Pricing was about average. I could have got cheaper per gallon elsewhere - but I was there and had the discount. So for mere convenience and the fact I was near empty (the only time I use discounts), I filled her up. Overall, Kroger fuel places are pretty good. In the past when I've needed to put air in the tires, if you ask they'll turn on the air for you (no charge). Other than that, I have no interaction with the attendant. That's how it worked today, paid at the pump, pumped it myself, got my receipt and went on my happy way. Now, it will be a while before I get any measurable points built up. Let's see if hubby notices that I used them. Probably not!

Her hair caught my eye - it was in braids and as she was making scooping ice cream for another customer noticed her leaning over the ice cream cooler and braids were swinging over the ice cream. When my turn came I told her I had a problem with her hair and told her hair - even in braids were swinging over the ice cream and she needed to be wearing a hair net. It made me sick. My friend and I left the store and went elsewhere for ice cream. Where is he manager to tell this gal what do do with her hair and advise her on hygine. Who wants hair in their ice cream.

I would think another employee on the clock would have opened a second register or taken care of the lottery tickets. I don't blame the employee, I blame management. I save them money by paying cash for gas and they waste my money by keeping me in line for ten minutes. Perhaps next time I see a manager at Speedway and they aren't busy I will make ten purchases under $5.00 each so I can bill them for my time and waste the manager's time. This Shell station located out in front of the Stoneridge Kroger accepts points. Then I hit the wall. The price did not change on the pump. I cancel and go inside for help. Ooooh, new store smell. The clerk was friendly and happy to walk me through the counter keypad. Same problem. Now the clerk informs me that they do not give $.03 off automatically for a Kroger Plus card. Darn it, I drove past a Speedway that automatically gives $.03 discount, and another $.03 off if I load and pay with a Speedway Gift Card. Lesson learned. The moral... If you have points, they will honor them, but no freebies.

When we lifted the handle of the pump and selected 87 octane (I was the one who selected this...check your feed, Francis!), my wife attempted to squeeze the handle to see if that would zero it out. No go. I hobbled myself back in. Francis has receipts (which I never received when I paid the third and original employee, who said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING) waiting for me, and accuses my wife of choosing the highest octane gas (93)....and trying to change the octane mid-pump. Here's the problem: it NEVER MOVED from an even $4.00 on that pump from the time we pulled up until the time we switched to pump 9. Not before we paid, not when we picked up the pump, not when I hit 87 octane, not when FRANCIS repeatedly hit 87 octane and the trigger button on the pump itself, not when we replaced the pump. It's not about the four bucks, it's about the business ethics and the disgusting behavior displayed by paid employees.

And with those points I often get the store merchandise gift card. And I buy my energy drinks there as they always run some kind of special. The price of their gas is also fair - having Giant Eagle as competition and cheaper than the high traffic/right off the freeway locations. The store itself is set up pretty good - such that there is no confusion which line you are in - and who is next. For the most part, they are also generally staffed pretty well - another problem I've seen at the other locations. One cashier at prime time busy. So this is where I often get my energy drinks and occasionally get my gas. I have GE points that I use when I need a complete fill up. But for in between top offs, I shop here.

The ground not yet soaked with a mess that clings to footwear, for later vehicle interior staining. Watch for discount specials, because it is not the cheapest fuel stop on the block. Big summer and winter bonus of 4X points of purchases. Best time to pick up gift cards for weddings, graduations, and Christmas, while earning $1 off per gallon.

Kroger really should change that! The other thing I don't like about it is that the price is usually higher than others in the area.
