A few months back, my dentist looked at my gums, told me there wasn't enough gingiva attached to…read morethe bottom of several teeth, and referred me to Dr. Canal for gum transplant surgery, AKA a gingiva graft. I went in for a consultation in December, and Dr. Canal explained the procedure to me. As such, for the next month, deep in my heart, I had been secretly terrified. I will not go into the gory details of the surgery here, but feel free to do a Google. I barely slept a wink last night. This morning was as great of an experience as one could have when someone is sticking a gigantic needle in your mouth four times and then... you know, the actual procedure that I'm not detailing. I will say, though, that I didn't feel a thing! Thanks, needles. It also only took about fifteen minutes per side to complete after the numbing portion -- the doc is speedy. Dr. Canal and his assistant were so friendly, and kept telling me I was doing great during the procedure when I felt the opposite. They also made jokes, which was a nice distraction. IE: "Don't ever let anyone tell you that you have a big mouth!!" when I was having trouble following their dental orders during the second part. I'm definitely in pain at the moment, and talking pretty funny since I have band aids on the roof of my mouth (yep, that exists!!), but I'm managing it with their detailed instructions. I'm glad I listened to my dentist and went to Dr. Canal! And, for what it's worth, I hope to never have to go back -- EVER -- but if a periodontist is needed in the future, I'll be booking an appointment with him.

Do not recommend unless you dont care about your wallet. I was provided my out of pocket cost prior…read moreto procedure. I went ahead and did this as I expected them to check my insurance first. It took them 3 full months to submit not one but 3 claims. Cigna asked them for more information then paid what they could based on the codes submitted,. I then get a bill for a lot more than cigna says i owe and they said they did not get the insurance payment. Why ask for payment if you havent had insurance pay yet? Then they said I owe another 350. Well based on my conversation with cigna and the Dr prior to procedure, I should have been covered in full IF they submitted the correct code. Now the front desk said its unethical to change codes now. But its not unethical to charge your patients based on your inability to do your job correctly? Why should I have to pay MORE? If they put the right code in the first time, my out of pocket would have been $125. I have already paid $360 so I should have gotten a refund. This billing office is a joke. Dont go here.

If you have anxiety about dentists, or a phobia of needles, or if you are looking for quality…read morepersonalized care, I do not recommend Dr. Monique Braatz. As a new patient, I had two appointments with her to place a crown. During both appointments, she was extremely rushed and heavy-handed. It was a whirlwind of pure stress for me. I did not feel like a person, but a number, despite explaining to her that I had dentalwork anxiety and a phobia of needles. During my second visit to place the permanent crown, she used numbing gel to prepare me for the needle, but she was too rushed to allow enough time for the gel to properly numb the area. As a result, I experienced a great deal of pain and anxiety from the needle. Actually, the worst ever. If I were satisfied with the results of the crown, maybe it would have all been worth it. But to top off the bad experience, I am not at all happy with the crown. The size and shape of it is all wrong. It looks nothing like the tooth it replaced. If Dr. Braatz wasn't so rushed and had bothered to put a mirror in my hand to view the crown before cementing it into place - like every other dentist I've visited has done in the past - I would have rejected it and asked for a replacement. The temporary crown looked better than the permanent one. Now, $1000 later, I'm stuck with a tooth that I hate, and it shows in my smile. It's a permanent reminder of why I dislike going to the dentist. The only positives were that the office was clean and they were on time for both appointments. Otherwise if I could give zero stars I would.
