Doctor Boyer is the ONLY doctor that I trust with my eyes. In my mid 50's, I developed a bleed behind one eye, that occludes the optic nerve. Thanks to bi monthly injections, my vision improved from 20-200 to 20-40. He has been treating me for more than a decade, and agreed to help my mother with her macular degeneration and my wife with her "floaters". He is the top doctor in his field are really enjoys restoring the sight of his patients. Once when I had a retinal tear, he came in on a Saturday to repair it. But I worry that his work schedule will wear him out! He works in at least three offices, sometimes beginning at 6am until 7pm! Take care of yourself Dr Boyer. August 29, 2022 my cataract surgeon Dr. K at Beverly Hills Institute of ophthalmology referred me to Dr. David Boyer, prior to doing the surgery for my cataract removal referred me to David Boyer prior to my cataract surgery to take a look at my retina and cataract and if they would be any issues during my cataract surgery with Dr. K. I arrive fairly early about 1220 my appointment was not until 1 PM. That was no problem for me arriving earlier. . I was greeted the front reception check in area provided paperwork to fill out prior to my appointment. Which went smoothly I was provided with excellent customer service. I was taken back about 1253pm. To do the routine test including measurements of the eyeballs I pressure test and had my eyes dilated prior to seeing Dr. David Boyer. The two male technicians were very helpful courteous professional and excellent customer service I'm sorry guys I totally forgot your name. After seeing Dr. David Boyer I was more than confident that I was looking forward to having my cataracts removed, From my left eye By the Dr K at Beverly Hills Institute of ophthalmologist who referred me to him prior to my surgery that is coming up. I felt more than positive and comfortable with a decision after speaking to David Boyer he said I had nothing to worry about wants to Cataracs as we move my vision should improve and I might have to still wear glasses or contacts if I choose to. It's a nice office and most of the staff are friendly with the exception of one of the Technician Gabby. She is very a rude and arrogant, it's sad. I feel that the office staff are a representation of the doctors and if that is how the doctors wish to be perceived or just don't care it doesn't bode well with me. I was referred to another doctor which took their office over two months for it to happen. read more

My wife's ophthalmologist wasn't sure whether she has macular degeneration. She saw Dr. Boyer and he determined that it's macular pucker, a much less serious condition. 30 some years ago I had a retinal tear and a cryogenic repair was recommended. I saw Dr. Boyer and he said wait a month before doing anything. A month later I saw him again and he said the tear started to self repair. Dr. Boyer is an angel. read more

I have a teenager who had a serious eye injury and had been seen in two emergency rooms and eventually the Jules Stein Eye Institute. He had very little vision in his right eye and needed to be seen by a retinal specialist. Unfortunately, his insurance chose to ignore the "urgent" notice by Jules Stein, and told us to wait 5 days to find out if he was approved or denied. Helloooo...urgent does not imply a 5 day waiting period. Thanks to my father, we were able to get into Dr. Boyer's office who saw my teen the next morning. Good thing he did. We were told that if we had waited one more day, it would have been too late to save his vision. Three days later, his eye is healing faster than they anticipated. We have yet another appointment tomorrow and are expecting more good news. The staff was friendly, but the expertise is something we will never forget. Dr. David S. Boyer has been our Retinal Specialist from the time my Son was born 3 months early, at a birth weight of 1 pound 10 ounces. After spending 3 and one half months in Nicu I was able to bring him home. At his first visit to Children's Hospital he visited their Opthalmologist. The Doctor advised me to take him to USC to see some specialists, as they noticed serious vision defects. I was scared to death, drove quickly to USC, the exam room was filled with Doctors, they put my baby son on a papoose board, wheeled him into their exam room, told me I could not go with him, but I insisted and accompanied my son into the exam room. I had no clue what they were talking about. One of the Doctors noticed how afraid I was, broke away from the other's, said do not worry, I will explain everything in lay person terms. That Doctor was Dr. David S. Boyer, from that point in time to today he has carefully worked with my Son and I, he has treated us like Family, and is the Ultimate in respect, intellect, caring Doctor I have ever known. Dr. Boyer is the most highly respected doctor in this field and therefore extremely knowledgeable. He is also very personable, patient, pleasant and respectful. He will answer all your questions, putting you at ease, feeling that you are in the hands of someone truly taken care of you. Dr. Boyer has literally saved my husband's eye sight, which came about as a result of diabetic complications. He has given my husband a number of injections to the eye - which have been over before he knew it. Dr. Boyer works all hours -- not for the money - but for the sake of his patients and their eye sights. He truly does care and is passionate about what he does and how he does. Dr. Boyer and Dr. Miller(deceased) founded the premier retina ophthalmology practice(s) in SoCal. My father was an ophthalmologist and so is my brother in law. For any complicated retina issues their patients were promptly referred to Dr. Miller and now Dr. Boyer. Dr. Boyer saved the eyesight of one of my clients. I just lost my health insurance. I showed my paper work for cobra to the office manger office in pasadena. She had to call the BH office to find out what to do. I waited at least half -hour, before she told me I had to call my primer doctor to clear it. I asked her if she could mail me the bill. She told me no, I had to be cash ($240.00) if I want to see the doctor today. I was so angry that she made me wait half - hour. Not right in my book. read more

I took my late father to see Dr. Boyer numerous times for his macular degeneration. I took him to downtown Los Angeles, North Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Dr. Boyer never did anything to help my father, just collected fees. He had a very insensitive manner. Once he recommended doing an injection, but he did nothing to convince my father that this would be anything but a shot in the dark. He never said if my Dad didn't have the injection, he would not be able to have it later on. Two years later, we had to go to his office for him to sign a medical document stating my father's problem for him to get care giving assistance. We weren't there to get an injection, yet he blares out that "It's too late to have an injection," in the most insensitive way. My mother has been seeing Dr. Boyer for many years, since she was diagnosed with macular degeneration. With Dr. Boyer's excellent treatment, he has been able to maintain my mother's vision at 20/20! My mother is in her 80s and thus, has seen many doctors during her lifetime, but she (and I) find Dr. Boyer to be the best!!! He's so kind, caring, thorough, communicative, and responsive. But best of all -- he has been able to save my mother's eyesight from a condition that can often lead to blindness. We are soooooo grateful for Dr. Boyer's help. We have had an absolutely awful experience. Dr. Boyer made my 84-year-old mother wait for almost 3 hours before seeing her. Nothing was done except that she was forced to sit there. The staff was rude, unsympathetic and the epitome of unprofessional. Then when he finally did see her, he barely looked into her history and it was also apparent that he was not brought up to speed on her situation. He then made her wait well past the time it takes for her pupils to dilate to do the necessary testing. This is after she was told that they could not dilate her eyes. This is very scary when a bunch of professionals in the same office contradict themselves, especially when it comes to an organ as sensitive as the eyes. I am shocked that this individual has received such good reviews. I'm very disappointed at my mother's ophthalmologist for referring him in the first place.
