I've shopped at Boyd's One Stop in Texas City before and didn't always have issues, but this last time was enough for me to take my business elsewhere. I paid for a quart of shrimp, but when I got to my fishing spot I realized they had only given me a pint. I went back and even spoke with the manager, and she told me there was nothing she could do about it. That kind of response shows a lack of care for customers. Was assured by Marcus G that the 3 Gee's Minnow Trap G-40's I was purchasing were the whole traps as they come from the manufacturer but when I got home since they were stuck together only amounted to a total of 1 and a half traps for full trap price at the time. Updated: I went back tonight to go buy half a trap so I could have at least 2 G-40's and the Assistant Manager was on duty. I explained to her that I had bought 3 of these last month but I received only 1 and a half traps. She gave me 3 halves tonight to make up the missing half from last month. She was very professional and polite. I thanked her and went on my way. It is only right to update this review and correct the review in light of the resolution. Went through the drive thru to order some cooked crawfish. Got 5 pounds. They had no butter or spice we could get because they were "exceptionally busy" which wasn't true. Tone of the employees voice was awful as well as the crawfish being overcooked and mushy. No flavor. No spice. All were tiny tiny Absolutely the worst crawfish I think I've ever had. We used Boyd's easy reservation option on their website to reserve to 2 sacks of Preferred 10/16 count crawfish for Memorial Day weekend. I do not generally do Yelp reviews but I feel Boyd's live crawfish division is getting a raw deal on their reviews. Boyd's had drive through pick up line that was fast and efficient and their crawfish were exactly as described for the price. Out of 2 sacks I think we had, at most, 5 dead which is pretty incredible based on my experience. We generally get our live crawfish on the Island but decided to give Boyd's a try. Nothing wrong with the vendors on the Island but Boyd's surpassed our expectations. We will use them again. read more

I always follow Boyd's on Facebook to stay on top of specials they post on sales of fresh table shrimp and crawfish during season. We recently caught an add they posted for Jumbo Shrimp at a 9 tho 12 count at $7.95 per pound with heads off! So we made the short trip to Texas City and bought 10 pounds. They were really nice size shrimp!! We made shrimp scampi for dinner and put the rest up for dinners later!!! They have their own shrimp boats and have been in business a long time. They not only have table and bait shrimp, but also really nice, and big live crabs usually #1's and#2's for boiling and gumbo's. And being at the base of the Texas City Dike they carry a great assortment of fishing tackle for those on their way to the dike to fish! They have live shrimp and baits for those who prefer live bait fishing. They also have drinks and ice, ice chests, and other items for your needs. read more

Boyds seafood is not service friendly .In fact we were talking to and treated unfairly.I placed and order for 2 bags of live crawfish for a certain date pick up.After placing our order my host for said event all got sick w Flu / A. I immediately called Boyds back well in advance to see about moving my pickup date and was told by 3 employees that it could be moved because I had called well in advanced and explained why.Again I was assured the order and 80.00 deposit could be moved due to the situation and that we called well in advance.FAST FORWARD to day of pickup we drove 1 1/2 hours because we live in Brazoria County. Before headed out to the Texas Dike, then this is your last stop to get bait. We paid about $20 for a quart of live shrimp. We really only needed to get about a pint. We decided to use lures most of the night and caught more fish this way. This was my first time stopping here and the ladies were very friendly. This is also a hot spot for the fishermen. It was really nice because they have a drive-thru area where you just hop in line with your car, place your order, and then they prepare the crawfish for you right there and then. Then, they load up the crawfish into your car for you! Did I mention that the crawfish was already seasoned and cooked? The sizes of the crawfish were decently big too, and it was all so delicious! They were dry, and brittle, and you had to peel the Whole shell off otherwise it would just fall apart to mush. You couldn't even pinch the tail, because it would just sqeeze right off. They were not purged at all, and there were a bunch already dead before they cooked them. I've never left a review like this for anyone, but I paid 85 dollars...And the whole family was disappointed. My husband brought me here for the first time. He's been here before because he grew up around the area. I love crawfish!!!! I'm from Houston and I'm used to paying $8+ a pound for crawfish. I come here and it's not even $2 a pound!!!! The pricing depends on the day, but it's still cheaper than anywhere else. Everything is fresh. You may have to wait in line for a bit, but it's worth it. The spicy seasoning is towards the bottom of the bag where all the juices drip to. Love this place and I'll be coming back until the season is over. It's not really a sit down kind of place. It's better to just order and take back home. The crawfish is served in a plastic bag, so it may be good to bring a cardboard box or something to sit the bag in your car. Went a few weeks ago and bought 20 lbs of boiled crawfish, it was decent, size was small but flavor and freshness was there...so came back today and bought 30 lbs of boiled crawfish, not only was the size the TINIEST I have ever seen but it was FROZEN!! ...I get that they sell for cheaper than most places @ $3.69/lb but this was not even worth that...wasn't even edible!!! Boyd's is not about quality/ just $$$$. We have been customers for years and have never had a bad experience. We receive the texts and went in to get a bag the week before Christmas for our family's celebration of my son's engagement. To say we were disappointed is an understatement! There was something very off about the batch, to the point 90% of the bag was not edible. Many did not have anything in the tails, and the ones that did were beyond mush. We make crawfish just about once a week each season and have never had such a bad batch. When we tried to contact them to let them know and give them a chance to make it right, they have pretty much ignored us and deleted any comments we make on social media. Now I know why there are never any negative reviews; they just delete them all immediately. That's shady. If Boyd's is in the business of pushing out anything just to sell some bags, they are not a business I will be patronizing any longer. I doubt they care that they lost my family's business, but I know there are other people out there with integrity that won't want to do business with people like this either. read more

Once we got there the price had increased to $3.30 a pound when we showed them the text they said "the price changes at any time" I tried to talk to Denise, the lady in charge and she was so rude. She said "just do not come back to buy crawfish from us we have plenty of customer we do not need your business" SO DISAPPOINTED in the false advertising. There text and facebook post are lies! Called 4 times and was transferred to a number where no one apparently answers. The fifth time I requested I do no be transferred and wanted to just know if they still had live crawfish available before I take a long drive to pick up some sacks. I was placed on hold and then told someone would answer because the person who answered said they just told them to do so. Welp, no one answered and the phone went to voicemail. Not to mention the several other times I called and never had no one pick up even after listening to that awful hold music for over 10 min. They can keep their crawfish!!!! read more

The seafood here is going on sale throughout the week and people line up here on the weekends. Or at least from what I have seen in person. The line starts early in the morning and you should get there early if you don't want to wait so long. You can also reserve bags for yourself by calling in during the week and pick up on the weekend. You'll end up paying the weekend price vs the low discounted weekday price, but at least you'll have something waiting for you. I'm from Houston and I made the drive here after fishing. The crawfish sizes range from small, medium, large, jumbo. You can pick your sizes and they'll pick out sacks for you in weight. You pay at the register and show your receipt to the guys outside on the side of the building. They'll rip off the top corner of the receipt and get your seafood ready. Once they retrieve it, they'll roll it out to your vehicle and load it up for you if needed. We asked for ice and they were nice enough to provide it for us since we have a drive to get back into Houston. Overall, awesome service and I'd come back again for live crawfish in the future. read more

This place is disgusting. While waiting in line for 15 minutes for the Crawfish, I observed the nastiest behaviors from a handler. A male with long blonde hair and had one glove on, one glove off. He picked his teeth with his bare hands. Then scratched his armpits a few times. The absolute deal breaker for me was when he started scratching his genitals. It was DISGUSTING. Placed a reservation order here for Sunday, got there at 10:30 today they took my money yesterday (Saturday) for my reservation. After waiting for over an he I get to the front for them to say their sold out!!!! Wait what I have a reservation, so how are you sold out for a reservation the point of a reservation is for you to make sure I have mine reserved over walk ups.
