Another blessed weekend and another beautiful, tasty establishment discovered. Katie's Seafood…read moreHouse is a standout as a sea-to-table restaurant in the heart of The Strand in Galveston, Texas. For starters, we sampled the wonderful smoked, stuffed shrimp boudin balls. They were served with a house-made "trio delight" dipping sauce that offered a nice little kick. For the main course, the delectable, house-made jumbo lump crab cakes were absolute divinity--delicious, melt-in-your-mouth, and awe-inspiring. They came served with white rice, an arugula salad, and a medley of fresh vegetables. We also tried a spectacular special: redfish topped with étouffée and two jumbo Gulf shrimp, served over a bed of dirty rice. The fish was perfectly flaky and robust with a great Cajun tinge. Our waiter, Victor was completely on point, though he did have to deliver two small tidbits of bad news: they were sold out of both the swordfish and the mousse cake. However, the rest of the meal more than made up for it. When it comes to Katie's, you'll never be disappointed.

FOOD: Everything that we ordered was absolutely delicious! The Rockefeller cheese bread was AMAZING…read more(not pictured unfortunately) and the portions are very generous and we all left stuffed! The only little thing was that the rice tasted a little uncooked. SERVICE: our server was very friendly and accommodating. She took care of all of our needs and went above and beyond! AMBIANCE: the inside looks smaller but it was nice. Not anything fancy but there was a mix of people dressed up and in casual.

I was scoping out fish mongers for when I come back to Galveston on business. I love red fish but…read morehaven't had the time to go fishing myself. I stopped by both Sampson & Sons. They were getting ready to close early due to an appointment but took the time to talk with me. They showed me their fish and shrimp, explained their process and answered all of my questions. All of the fish were clear eyed and had no discernible odor... all good signs of freshly caught fish. I will be back to Galveston next week and plan on stopping at Sampson to get red fish, my favorite fish. I visited another market next door, but the personal attention just wasn't there for me. They were nice, but Sampson's really knocked it put of the park for me by staying, explaining the process, and offering to fillet my fish for me free of charge. Someone who will take the time to show a stranger around, even when they have an appointment, is someone I wish to do business with. Upon my return, I'll take photos and review the fish its self. On customer service and appearance of fish alone, I give Sampson 5 stars.

Loved the fact we could get fresh seafood early. We tried three other places before landing here…read more Staff were super helpful and even carried out the bag for us. They had a great selection and even offered to clean and filet the fish. This is a great option.
