My patio could not be attached to my house due to HOA rules, they maneuvered and did not attach the patio to my house but made it so esthetically it looks beautiful. Boyd's Custom Patio did a deck and patio for us. We started early spring and it was completed before summer. It all turned out so beautiful! We are very happy with the work that was done, and with the friendly and professional staff that assisted along the way. Any fixes, or minor issues we had addressed were taken care of with no problems at all. We have had so many compliments on our deck & patio. Our patio is on the side of our house so it is noticed by people driving & walking by. We had some neighbors we had not met come to our house asking who did our patio and if they could look at it, they walked away with referral info. from us for Boyd's Custom Patio. I had posted pics on Facebook and had a family member ask who I used as they are wanting a patio done as well. This was a success story from start to finish. There were times our texts went unanswered and we had to keep asking for a reply, but for the most part communication was good. These are honest people, family owned business. They gave us a bid very timely, the few things we needed added to the bid were added with no argument at all. They stayed true to bid and did not try to manipulate costs. The construction was faulty and has numerous leaks, multiple things were promised and not delivered on, and having to call another company to fix it cost me more than the original estimate. Randy came as expected but that was the only good service. Said we would have a quote in 3 days. Had to follow up 10 days later and finally got a quote from Brett that did not reflect our details as discussed with Randy. Asked for it to be corrected and was told you'll have it tomorrow. I will start by saying I love my covered patio........ However, I am frustrated with many things that were promised and not followed through with. I was first promised that my project would start sometime in May (2019), weather permitting and be finished by July 24th. They did say they were running a little behind because of the wet spring we had. I understand that and didn't have a problem with that. What I did have a problem with is that there wasn't any communication from them. I had to initiate all contact with them to get updates as to when my project might start and finish. My project started in August and finished in October. Earlier this year, around April, some of the stucco on the pillars to the patio started to chip off. I have called and e-mailed Randy every month since then. He responded the first time, had someone come out to look at the pillars to see what the problem was, then responded that he had a crew in the area and would send them over to fix the stucco within the week. No one showed. I have e-mailed every month since that time. Randy has stopped communicating with me. If you are looking for a company that stands by their product, will stick to their word (Brett said there was a lifetime warranty on the products they use), and communicates what is going on with your project, this is NOT the company to use. If I didn't enjoy the patio as much as I do, this would be a 1 star review. read more

Really like the product but they tell you about their lifetime warranty but don't back it up. They built my patio cover in fall of 2017. When winter came the patio started to leak right where the roof attaches to my house. We open our back door and step on to ice!. I called in February and they said they would send Randy Boyd right out to fix it. No call backs and no show. I started to call in earnest in June. I have now spoke to a young lady 10 times in 2.5 months and been promised a call and a visit by Randy to fix it. I have all of my calls recorded along with their empty promises. As noted in other reviews, no call backs and no show. I love the patio cover but they need to 1. Stand behind their product and 2. Communicate honestly and in a timely manner with their customers. Perhaps they are doing so well that they don't need to take care of existing customers? read more

We like our deck cover and the quality seems decent thus far. However.... UNLESS YOU LIKE EMPTY PROMISES, LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM, AND FLAT OUT DECEPTION TO GET A CONTRACT SIGNED, THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU USE THIS COMPANY. Brett came to our house on about July 3rd and we signed a contract and made a down payment of $3,625. Brett told us that it would take a few weeks before supplies arrived and as soon as they did construction would begin. He told us that the project would be completed by the 3rd week of August. I told Brett to under-promise us as we had just had a remodel done that went over schedule and were still reeling from the frustration of that. He assured us that at the very longest they would be done by the first week of September. November 15th and the project was finally complete. Extremely disappointed! We are really happy with our new patio cover from Boyd's. Construction in Utah is going at such a rapid pace, I am grateful to have been able to get the job done in such a short time. Run do not walk away from Boyds Called Boyds to make an appointment for an estimate and the estimator never showed up. After calling the office 20 times, a female answered and said that I had the wrong date. Don't think so. Said that he would be at our house the next day at 6pm. Waited for an hour. We went to the Home Show this last January 2016 and met Bret at his both, he is the Sales/Design guy for Boyd's Custom Patios. He was nice a friendly and said he would love to work with us. So we put our names down for him to come out and give us a quote. Bret came to our house and helped us come up with exactly what we were looking for, we were very excited to hear back from him and see how much all of this would be and when we could start. Sadly and to our dismay Bret has since never sent us an estimate., returned my calls, emails or text messages. What company lets potential customers down like that. I can not express what a good experience we had with Boyd's Custom Patios. We originally had just stairs off the back of our house and a patio cover, but we wanted a better use of space. Bret came in and helped us see a vision. We decided on a stamped concrete steel framed deck. We were told the project would take 4-6 weeks and with the nature of construction I prepared for 8 weeks. We had experience with 4 different crews and each one showed incredible professionalism and knowledge of their jobs. We had an extensive project that included removing a post from our current patio cover, bulking up the header that supported that and bulking up the two remaining posts. We had a crew that cut our current patio for footers and demo of our current steps. We had a crew who put rock on our our posts so it blended better with our house. At one point I saw something that I wanted changed and Randy made sure I was happy and made the changes for us for a fair price change. Vince and his crew came and poured our concrete and got it stamped and colored and sealed. We also wanted a "skirting" underneath our deck for storage and my only requirement was that it "matched my house" We didn't have any stucco so I didn't want that, but an amazing custom Hardie board skirting was built that exceeded my expectations. Even the clean up guys were respectful, and hard working. This wasn't a "quick" project but there were so many facets of the project and it was done with such attention to detail my husband and I are completely satisfied. Fantastic finished product and great to work with! We were able to get a finished trek deck, concrete patio and beautiful patio cover (with stucco columns) all through Boyd's. Trying to hire these separately was proving to be a nightmare, but Boyd's provided a cohesive well-organized experience. Like many others who are looking to put in a patio or replace a deck, we did a lot of searching. When we found Boyd's, we were thrilled to find the first company who truly listened to our vision, provided a consultative experience, and then delivered on that vision with a beautiful finished product. Bret Boyd was terrific to work with! There were even a couple of times through the process when we changed our mind about exactly what we wanted. Sadly I can only offer 1 star. The salesman came out to measure for a pergola and go over our desire to put in a concrete patio. The salesman was personable but didn't seem interested in what my vision was. But we came to an agreement on pergola size. He said he would get back to me the next day with a price and have his concrete guy contact me. It has been a month....still haven't heard from anyone. We had an estimate done last spring and the guy that came out gave us a quote and stated that they are the best price in town but will match someone else's price if we found lower, well we did and gave him the proof he indicated that he would ask his boss if they can match that price and get back to us. We have not heard back and he has not returned our call almost a year later. Luckily we found someone else at the home show last night after walking right past Boyd's exhibit I thought about stopping and asking the guy who gave us our estimate what happened but decided not to. I agree with the other negative comments. Our patio cover has leaked right from the start. It's been over six months now with calling Bret Boyd, texting, e-mailing, all with broken promises that they would show up and fix the issue. One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I highly advise you to go with someone else. Nice product, horrible customer service. If they screw something up, you will never get it fixed. Total waste of time - Bret was 45 minutes late for estimate and then here for 5 minutes or less. I should have known by that just to move on but I was hopeful. I never could get a bid. He needed to find out if he could match existing cover (we wanted it bigger). You can either find the materials or you can't but instead we got never ending promises from him and then apologizes from his mom plus promises (his parents own the company) about a bid coming that day. He then got argumentative about things take time. Here's a tip - keep your word and get potential customers a bid rather than argue with them about delays. I hoped things would get better by asking to work with someone else and being told that Randy (owner) would be contacting me. No phone call, still no bid. I got a text from Randy's wife saying he wanted to come out again to look at everything. I asked that he use info Bret had collected on first visit to give me a bid and avoid inconvenience for both sides of another appointment. They had the chance to admit not enough info/need to come again etc but didn't. Instead no bid, no communication, nothing. After reading about delays, poor workmanship and more here I'm glad we moved on. It seems they dote on some customers and give great service (probably those with big jobs) but the rest of us.....no such luck. It started with Bret coming out to give us a quote. He was professional, thorough and pleasant to deal with. We were impressed right off the bat. We had another company come out the next day to give us a quote as well. The other company's bid came in lower. Bret said he would beat their offer. So we made a deal. His crew arrived and quickly set up and got to work. They were wonderful all around. They cleaned up after themselves and always made sure to check in with us during the whole process. Their communication with us was VERY good which is extremely important to me. Our patio cover is huge! Everyone who worked on it pointed out that it was the biggest patio cover they had ever done. We got several bids from awning and patio companies and chose Boyd's because of all the design and customization options they offered, plus they have been in business for many years and that mattered to us. Because summer tends to be busy for most contractors, we pushed our install out to September and the crew arrived on time and were friendly and professional. The install was supposed to take one full day and the crew stayed until 7 PM, but had to come back the next morning to finish up. They cleaned up after themselves throughout the project. Bret, our salesperson was awesome. He spent nearly two hours going over design options and helping me choose the best two-tone color choices to compliment our house and vinyl fence. It turned out gorgeous! We are using the electrician they referred us to to install the flush-mount LED lights and ceiling fan we bought for the patio. Couldn't be happier with Boyd's Custom Patios. Are You Looking for a Patio Cover for Your HOME, I wish I could Give Boyds 10 STARS I found Boyd's Custom Patios driving through our neighborhood of a Patio Cover I wanted to install. The Home owner shared he was very Happy with their Work and how Quick they were able to get it Done. My situation had a Twist to it I had to get Approval from my HOA, due to the CCRs. The HOA Design review Committee Denied my Variance for this style of Patio. Brett Boyd helped me Explain to the HOA Board of Directors who rule on Appeals the style Patio the HOA CCRs outlines is Impossible to Build with the 2 story Style home we have. Brett provided photos I attached of what my Patio cover would look like and had telephone conversations with parties ruling on the Appeal, of why the style the CCRs called for could not be Built. We were Granted a Variance of the CCRs to install a BOYDS Custom Patio. We love our cover! We were recommended Boyd's from a coworker and they did not disappoint. Bret recommended an upgraded trim and we are so glad he did. It looks incredible and everyone comments on it. The whole staff was great from Bret down to the installers. Their price could not be beat. We had them relocate an old awning and upgrade the trim and posts on it and it looks like a new carport. Our new cover was 16' x 60' so it was a good size cover. We called them to come give a quote for a patio project. Took a few weeks to schedule the visit, but once they came and left we never heard back from them. We called and texted to follow up on the quote, he said "I'll email that right to you", and then nothing. Absolutely the worst experience. My deck has been under construction for 4 months. I was promised a finished product by the end of March, if I gave them $2,000 deposit back in February and now it's end of June and it's still not finished. I have asked several times for Bret Boyd, the owner to come out and look at the terrible craftsmanship so we can try and get it fixed and finished. He has been telling me since May that he will be out to look at it and I still haven't seen him. My guess Bret was handed dads company with no building experience or customer service experience. This has beed the absolute worst customer service experience. The worst part is that it's not finished and he sent me an invoice for $1,500.00 more than the original bid. They actually did less work than the original bid but are trying to bill me more. In my opinion Bret Boyd and his staff are the most dishonest, untrustworthy people I have ever dealt with. My opinion is you need to find on another contractor even if it cost a little more. read more

We were referred to Boyd's Custom Patios from a neighbor who had one installed. It took several tries to get someone to respond to my messages for a quote. On my 3rd time calling, I was able to reach a "live body"; I explained I had made multiple attempts to reach someone, the woman apologized and promised to pass my message along; an appointment was set with Bret. He came to our home and was able to help us with a design that was exactly what we were looking for. We were impressed with his knowledge of the product and the options we could do. That is where our good impression stops. We had a specific date we needed to start and end by. We were several weeks out and were assured it would not be a problem because he had multiple crews available to work and we would be put on the schedule for that start date. Well, the date came and went, with explanations of "bad weather has set us back", "prior jobs are taking longer than expected", etc. We were scheduled to start on a Friday with assurance the job could be completed in a weeks time. The design of the patio was a unique and challenging one, but we were assured completion date would be achievable. Actual work did not start for approximately 5 more days, which set us back from when we needed it completed. Communication to/from Bret has been very frustrating. We specifically asked that he contact my husband on his way to our home to pick up the down payment so he could leave work and meet him. He did not contact him and showed up at our home wanting the check. Needless to say, he had to make another trip out because my husband wasn't here. Many times we would specify which one of us to contact on progress/scheduling and he would contact the other person or not contact us at all. We were told that one of the crews assigned to work on our home had been contacted and couldn't get to us for a few days. When that contractor contacted us to see when they could come out, I explained that the day before would have been ideal; the contractor then stated to me "we were available yesterday, but I did not get the call to come work on your place until late last night". I feel that Bret has a lot going on and is trying to juggle too many things. I think he gets behind and forgets things and then scrambles to get it done. I feel on more than one occasion I was told whatever he felt I wanted to hear to buy time. Once the various crews did show up they did quality work and for the most part done in a timely manner. Since Bret was the one that "sold" us the patio cover, he was our point of contact. When I called to see where we were at on the schedule or why something wasn't done, I would be told I had to be patient and weather was effecting their schedule and that our design was complicated. I do understand that weather plays a role when you are working with construction, however updates on delays/timelines were never communicated. It was only when I would reach out and ask the status did I get answers. Before we paid our final portion for the job (total of $13K), we specifically asked for a walk-thru. There were some things missing and we wanted them noted. Bret was supposed to come one evening, but then said he couldn't make it. We told him he would have to wait to pick up his check until my husband returned from his business trip the next week. It was several days after my husband returned home that Bret contacted us. We hadn't heard from him in over a week to schedule a walk-thru.On the day he contacted my husband, he said he needed to stop by that night and get the check. He said nothing about the walk-thru. My husband had to ask him to walk out to look over the job and make note of the items still needing completion. The remaining items were followed up on. We had a minor rainstorm come through with some leaking on one of the seams. Last Wed there was a HUGE rainstorm and several leaks are all over. We contacted Bret that day, he told us he could not get out to look at it until the next day or day after. He arrived at our home Friday to see all of the leaks. I took several photos and video to show him where the water was coming through. When we built the cover, we realized that some leaks could be possible; but were assured they were under warranty. After Bret left our home that morning I never saw anyone come to fix them. When I asked Bret where they were, he said the rain had put them behind on some jobs and the guy fixing it would be there Monday. Nothing Monday, so I reach out again and am told Wed. morning, then Wed. night. No one came so I contact him again,he now tells me first thing Thurs (which was today). Have not seen or heard from anyone. Left Bret a message tonight with no response. The completed project is beautiful and we enjoy it, however we feel since they have our $$ we are not a priority to get it fixed and keep getting pushed back. Hoping a social media post will spark a sense of urgency for them to take care of their already paid customers. read more
