Trust me, I've looked Frustratingly, the flame here isn't consistently powerful, especially with the passage of time and refilling the fuel from a butane cannister is slow Watching TV cookery shows made me envious when I saw the TV chefs wielding large and powerful blowtorches. On my recent to The Pass restaurant, I was able to chat to the chefs preparing my meal and they advised me to go to a hardware store and buy a professional blowtorch That's exactly what I did today. Wickes had a great looking professional blowtorch where you just twist off and replace the entire butane cannister when it's empty instead of needing to refill an integrated unit Watch out duck, scallops and creme brulee! My Chinese thrift gene generally keeps my spending in check but I have a weakness for cookbooks and kitchen appliances. Visits to Lakeland stores have therefore been dangerous sorties for me and my wallet in the past. Now, they've only gone and opened a store where I work! They carry a range of kitchen and household products. For my American friends, think William Sonoma but with a wider range of goods. They opened for business yesterday and I only had a brief look round. Fortunately not enough time to browse and buy properly. When I feel strong enough to resist, I'll be sure to be back.

Our job was supposed to take 4 weeks. Due to their appalling customer service and the fact they continually damaged one thing repairing another it actually took over 24 weeks! They failed to even apologise properly until they saw the comments I put on checkatrade and attempted to get me not to publish them. They are incredibly expensive, which we were happy to pay as we believed the owner's claims he would professionally project manage the whole process. He didn't! He continually ignored our messages ad didn't turn up when he said he would. His workmen even told my wife twice they were just leaving for the day when she had actually gone home early and was home and they were gone literally hours beforehand. Bottom line - get someone else to do your job or learn yourself, it will be done quicker!!!

I contacted the Watford branch by both phone and email, clearly explaining the situation. I specifically asked to be told if delivery was not possible, so I could order elsewhere in time. I was assured that the delivery would be made on the morning of 2 January. Based on that guarantee, I trusted them, organised labour, and planned the works accordingly. By 13:00, it became clear that no delivery was coming. After calling and emailing again, I was then told that delivery would only be possible on Monday, 5 January This caused not only a financial loss due to wasted labour and delays, but also damaged my professional credibility with my client which is far more difficult to recover. Mistakes can happen, but what is frustrating is being given a firm assurance when it clearly could not be met. We had been at various other locations in London already and had picked up samples from various tiles, to test out of how they look and feel in our home. We eventually made up our mind and went for the East Hampton hexagon-shaped mosaic marble. This location in Marylebone is close to my office, so one day I popped in here to place the final order. The sales agent, Sharie, was super helpful and she made the order-process a breeze. She followed up with a written email confirmation and told me that the delivery is scheduled for the agreed date. Wonderful! What really made this an extraordinary experience was when I came back to this shop a few weeks later to return the samples. These samples were from the Islington and Hampstead branches, plus I had lost the receipts...and so I wasn't quite sure if they would refund the money. Luckily, Sharie was on duty again: she loaded the computer and spent some time digging for the online-receipts. She found them in the end and refunded me back my 28 quid. Due to past incompetence I was not willing to do this, as I have no confidence they would be treated securely.
