And there was zero feedback regarding the Bordetella vaccine and this office's practices. When I showed up for the appointment, everyone was very pleasant and they demonstrated that they care for me and my pet. The assistant had everything prepped and the vet, Dr. Herrington, administered vaccinations and the microchip. She never said a word about Bordetella, their practices or that they were not administering the Bordetella, let alone their reasoning. There was ZERO conversation about this. It only came to light that they had NOT administered the Bordetella vaccine 10 days later when I was about to board my pup while I traveled. The receptionist told me they did not because it is not their practice to do so (no further explanation). Further, when later queried directly, the vet deflected and said the "receptionist cannot practice veterinary medicine." She apparently thought this was relevant because I notified the receptionist of my request when I made the appointment. But if this were germane, how is it Kellie Herrington DVM did everything else I requested via the receptionist without asking me a question? Hey, I understand that any business will have processes and protocols they follow. How much more so in any kind of medical practice. That is why every other doctor or large- or small-animal veterinarian I have interacted with COMMUNICATES. No, the truth is that this office has problems with communication. Professional, timely, warm, and never make me feel like I'm asking too much as far as questions and clarification. My only critique would be their primary veterinary care. Initially, we began routine veterinary services here but we would end up waiting upwards of 30 minutes to even get into a room, let alone see the veterinarian. And the prices are more expensive than my current primary veterinarian just a few miles away. We have since switched the primary care vet for my dog. BUT, I highly recommend any other service Creekside provides, I always know my pup is receiving excellent care here and I'm very grateful for the work they do.

Together, they quickly came up with a plan and got Cinnamon treated with antibiotics, meds, and food to help his appetite. Cinnamon isn't just a pet--he's my constant companion and part of the family, so it's hard seeing him not feel like himself. I'm hopeful he'll start improving in the next couple of days. Overall, it was one of the best vet visits I've had in a long time.

Over the last 18 months we have had one crazy thing happen after another, it started with a new…read morepuppy and my vet of 20 years couldn't get us in. For new puppy wellness check. So we somehow lucked into finding Dr. Daugette at City Vet Keller. I know that City Vet is a chain, but Dr. D is far from being a chain veterinarian. She has been there for us at every turn, from ear infections to surgeries, life-threatening diseases to random agencies they are texting us on the weekends, answering emails late on a Saturday night, to conferring with specialist to seek possible answers when they seem like there were none. Our dog was diagnosed with a rare disease that took the life of her sister a few short years ago. I also lost my very first dog to this disease never believing that any dog could come back from it, because it just was so terrible. Each dog was treated and each dog eventually passed away. However, this time was different. She sought out specialists. She tried all different kinds of options and not only is our dog off most of the the medication's now. They really difficult on her body, but at 11, her numbers are back now in the normal range and it is nothing short of a miracle! We have a dog that is diabetic on two shots a day. We have a dog that has attacked our other dogs, and she has taken care of our babies like they were her own. We had a dog that had to be rushed into emergency surgery and if not for their care, she would no longer be with us. My husband and I got together late in life and we're not able to have a baby, so our dogs are the family that we loved dearly. This place has the vest vibes. The staff from the moment you walk in the door they are just different. They remember all of our dog's names and are excited to see them when they come. I can honestly say they treat them like they were their own. I trust Dr, D her advice and recommendations 100% without hesitation. She is always willing to work with us and explore any and all options, she spends time with you in the examination room, and we feel like her and the team there at City Vet are part of our extended family. I left my bed that I had been moved for 20 years because never and all this time have I ever been as cared for as we feel as City Vet Keller. If you are looking for a place that cares more about people and pets than make an appointment and you will see for yourself I promise. The last 18 months have been pretty awful in terms of how many doctor visits we have had to make and org /ical I/ situations emergency and otherwise it has been a huge financial investment, but all of our children a.k.a. puppies are still alive and kicking... even thriving! I know in my heart that bat is due to the team at City Vet Keller and the incredible Dr Daugette, hopefully I'm spelling that correctly. I am 4 months into a UTI issue with one of my dogs and they cannot give me a solution that works, we've tried 3 different kinds of antibiotics and I have made the infection impossible to treat now. The correct approach looking back was to do a full urinalysis and know exactly the type of bacteria so we could target it correctly out of the gate. They didn't suggest that until we had 2 full failed rounds and then when we did the test their lab left the urine out too long and got inconclusive results. Nonetheless, I continued on with round 3 of antibiotics, finished it last week and the dog is peeing in the house again today. Taking him to another vet now and looking back this process just makes me furious. I've spent close to 10k on visits, medicine, new food, supplies for my house and I had to get new floors... all without even having a solution. People should know about my experience and I hope no one else has one similar.

A few weeks ago, I stated that once I was emotionally ready, I would file a formal complaint…read moreregarding the care my 8-year-old Great Dane, Baylen, received from Dr. Margaret Sterile at Pet Health Center in Decatur. I have now filed that complaint and have supporting documentation. On Thursday, December 12, 2024, Baylen, who had previously been healthy, became lethargic and developed blood in her urine. I contacted the veterinary office and spoke with Meghan Sterile. I explained my concerns and believed Baylen might have a UTI. Meghan suggested it could be a kidney infection but did not advise me to seek emergency care or ask additional questions that might have helped determine the severity of Baylen's condition. I brought Baylen to the clinic as scheduled. She was able to walk into the clinic on her own. Dr. Sterile examined her, took her temperature, and drew blood. She asked whether Baylen had received the Leptospirosis vaccine. When I said she had not, I was repeatedly questioned and made to feel negligent. Dr. Sterile quickly concluded that Baylen had Leptospirosis, told me she was contagious, and said I would be lucky if she survived the night. I was told Baylen had to remain at the clinic because she was considered zoonotic. I was not given the option to take her elsewhere, although the medical record later stated that I had been offered a referral. I begged for information about her treatment and asked to see her. I was eventually allowed to spend approximately 45 minutes with her, but I was not permitted to touch her. I was told she was contagious and that I could not return to see her before leaving. I was told that Meghan would be caring for Baylen throughout the night and that Baylen was doing well when I received a call at approximately 11:45 p.m. The next morning, around 8:10 a.m., I was told Baylen had become significantly less alert and needed to be transferred to a 24-hour emergency facility. I was never notified during the night that her condition had deteriorated. Had I known, I would have arranged an emergency transfer much earlier. I immediately transferred Baylen to VEG in Fort Worth. During the drive, Baylen appeared almost unresponsive. Approximately 20 minutes into the trip, she began crying and howling in severe pain. This was completely unlike her normal behavior, and I had never heard her make those sounds in her eight years of life. When we arrived at VEG, I was told within minutes that Baylen did **not** have Leptospirosis. Further examination, ultrasound, and testing determined that she was septic and suffering from a **spleen torsion and a ruptured uterus associated with pyometra**. By that point, her condition was too advanced for surgery, and she was unable to survive the procedures that might otherwise have saved her life. We were forced to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize her. I believe Baylen's death could have been prevented if she had received a proper diagnosis and appropriate treatment when I first brought her to Dr. Sterile. I was later informed that the clinic did not have an in-house Leptospirosis test and that the test had to be sent out. To my knowledge, no confirmatory Leptospirosis testing was performed before Baylen was diagnosed and treated as though she had the disease. I also believe other diagnostic testing, including an ultrasound, should have been considered to determine the actual cause of her rapidly declining condition. I have concerns about inconsistencies in Baylen's medical records as well. The records state that I was offered a referral and that certain testing was performed, including a progesterone test, neither of which I recall occurring. I also have concerns about the timing and completeness of the chart notes. This is not my first concerning experience with Dr. Sterile. I previously had an incident involving my French Bulldog, Coco, who was heavily pregnant and approximately two weeks from her expected due date. Coco was brought in for an examination, but without consulting me about her breeding dates, progesterone testing, temperature, or other signs of labor or distress, Dr. Sterile performed an emergency C-section. The puppies were born prematurely and, despite extensive efforts to save them, all eventually died due to complications associated with being born too early. I have also witnessed other troubling incidents involving the care of puppies and believe there is a pattern of poor judgment, inadequate communication, failure to obtain informed consent, and insufficient diagnostic testing. I have reviewed other complaints and online reviews that raise similar concerns about Dr. Sterile's treatment of clients and animals, and I ask the Board to consider whether these complaints demonstrate a broader pattern. My grief over Baylen's death is immense. She was a beloved member of our family, and nothing can replace her. I believe Dr. Sterile and her staff failed to provide Baylen with appropriate care.
