In the past, the unique selections and easy atmosphere kept me coming back, but recently I have seen the business has been cut in half (the shop is 1/2 the size!) and is now much, MUCH smaller, tighter and cramped. The selection is now standard affair that one would find at any boho gift shop, especially along the Hudson. Some candles, some notecards, some souvenirs in cup or card form, some small pillows ... maybe some boho/artsy/indie jewelry. Meh cards along the wall. I get why they had to slim down and cut back ($$), but all the "trading" aspects of the shop are now gone. Maybe 10% still exists in the form of honey and an artisan candle here and there, or some jewelry, but the furniture, incenses, most artisan soaps and kitchen goods (except some souvenir cups) are all gone. There used to be a giant selection of jewelry, dream catchers, wind chimes - all echoed through the store and welcomed you in. It's now gone. Still, a great little place to stop in but it's now a lite, fat free version of what we had before. Prices are mid range and parking can be very tricky on busy weekends when tourists are all around, especially in the afternoon. Again, it's worth checking out, but don't expect any unique goods or anything that's too artisan or a really fun, fun find. Good for candles, matches, pillows, socks, some clothes in the back.

As a retired person I enjoy visiting different towns and shops in these beautiful towns and will take photos and post on my Facebook page to inspire friends and family to visit these beautiful places and shops. As I browsed this store which at the time had 3 or 4 customers including myself and my friend, I took 4 photos - one of my friend and 3 photos of cute dish towels and coffee mugs with funny sayings on them, I didn't touch these items or rearrange them in any way. When we initially entered the store the sales women were very welcoming and friendly but all of a sudden the mood of one salesperson shifted dramatically. I was walking in a very narrow area and the employee who is an older woman with large framed eyeglasses came way too close to me (neither of us wearing face masks) and said in a stern, unfriendly tone of voice "can I help you?" I immediately felt uncomfortable because of her tone and too close physical proximity to me . I smiled and said no. Then, again in a stern tone of voice she said "any questions about anything?" Again I said no . Then, again with the same stern voice and close physical Proximity she said with the same tone " Any questions about anything you are taking photos of?" In an irritated tone of voice she said next time ask to take photos and looking down at the phone in my Hand she ordered me to "and turn off your camera" I was speechless and never experienced any treatment like this before in any store or establishment . If she said in a neutral tone or dare I say friendly tone of voice - we have a no photo without permission policy or I'm sorry but please no photos - I would have apologized - I saw no signs posted in the store warning of this policy that was obviously very important to this person . On my way home, I found myself feeling very unsettled . This really ended my visit to the shops in Nyack on a very sour note! I decided that I would contact the manager or owner of Maria Luisa boutique to share my unpleasant encounter with their sales person. As I found their information on the internet I came to discover it was the store owner herself -Maria Luisa who treated me so poorly!! Needless to say , I will never return to this boutique! "

She gave us a brief description of the home. There was an older woman speaking with Sierra. Overhearing their discussion, this woman appeared to some connections with the museum. However, she couldn't even bother to smile or say hello to us. I could on..... We then went into an adjoining room and saw a video about the artist's life. Edward sketched and painted maritime and industrial aged scenes. Also, he sketched pictures of his "relationship" with his wife. Edward's wife Josephine was his muse. She was an artist in her own right. During our visit, Artist Thomas Prose had his nature art on display. Please see attached photos of Prose's works. In the backyard, there are several benches. It appears that the museum has outdoor events. All in all, this small home museum is set up very nicely. Upon entry, there's a cute gift shop of Edward Hopper's books, sketches and more. There is a short video and some of his early possessions and photographs, then a contemporary art exhibit, and upstairs there's one room decorated for how it would have been during Hopper's lifetime. The artist Tomokazu Matsuyama reinterpreted Hopper's work which was an interesting visual experience. There was no tour, but the employee did give us some additional information in between other people coming in to pay. She seemed very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Hopper and explained the house was in disrepair after Hopper's death and restored by a nonprofit. It's a pretty cheap self-guided experience but cool information to gather. The gift shop is minimal and parking is paid on street, but it's a cute street, so you might as well walk around a little after. For art lovers, it's a neat little spot to visit, and I'm glad it has been preserved. It's worth stopping by if you're a fan of Hopper's.

Don't get me wrong; this mall is very popular, but every time I visit it has less and less people visiting. I find this extremely sad to see, especially since I used to love going here with my dad, this mall has slowly been rotting due to neglect by the owners and is now destined to be demolished or completely renovated. I hope it can one day come back, but now I've lost hope for it at all.
