Bowles farm is fun for all

Today I was one of many chaperones on a elementary school class trip to the farm for pumpkin picking. This was my first with my baby girl. Yay! Any place where a big statue of Sponge Bob Square Pants greets you, is okay with me. Passing The statue you can easily see the pumpkins sitting out in the patch. The kids got pretty excited. Little did I know, there was so much more to this trip then picking out my great pumpkin. We were the first bus to arrive into a very large lot for plenty buses to drop off and park. We were immediately greeted and given thorough instruction on how our day would go. We were told to set our bags and lunches on a specific table and I quickly found an outlet and plugged in for power all day. I did not want my camera to die. The main receiving barn is huge and looks brand new with a small kitchen where the sell hot dogs and drinks along with nice clean bathrooms. The day we visited the weather it was a beautiful day so the ceiling heaters were off but ready for a cold day. We were instructed to start at the Corn Maze. We started at the easiest and then went to the next level. The hard wasn't available for us since we were an elementary school. Both mazes were good for our kids age group. 5 to 6 years old. Not too much walking or dead ends. The bridge that allows you to look over the maze from a higher view is very cool and it will amaze you how much ground you covered and still have to to get out. Once finished we took the hay ride...hmm, maybe with no hey it was just a train ride. The history lesson on this was good for adults and he did a great job entertaining the kids. But, it's more to pass the time and see the entire farm. After that we hit an older barn they use for a quick movie. This was really fun since I love Charlie Brown and the great pumpkin. Lots of good info about the farm and his story lesson. From there we ate lunch and headed to the best part for our kids, the hey and corn play ground. Oh my! Who new all you needed was to line up bails of hey and let them play. Our kids could have played on that forever. Okay kids, time to go look at the live animals. This was also good and a good way to get the kids from the hey. Live hens, pigs, goats and rabbits. The goats were my faves. They love the attention and chin rubs. Okay, lets ride the black tube slides. Another easy all day tons of fun attraction on the farm. Tons of fun for all. I actually wanted to slide also but the teachers and parents just sat back and observed, so I played my position. Guess what? It's that time ya'll. Lets go to the pumpkin patch and find our great pumpkin..LOL. So, the pumpkins were everywhere and we walked for 15 to 20 minutes to find the perfect one for each in our group. Once selected, we placed them in our plastic bag, placed in my back pack and I askedd, so we have about 30 minutes left, what would you like to do until we leave? With no hesitation they all yell, the hey! So, we hiked back over to the hey park and spent the remainder of the time running, screaming and jumping in the hey. Headed home and all were asleep including me. A great outing for all.

$10 each. No credit cards. Only cash or check.

A fun way to spend the afternoon. The pumpkins weren't huge but were only $5 extra. Quite a few rotting ones. We passed and went to the petting zoo then the corn maze. The maze is quite big---much more impressive than I had imagined it would be! And it seems that they make a new pattern each year.

The pumpkins are $7 for any size. The maze is fun. The kids had a good time and the lemon blueberry cupcakes are astonishingly good!

Fun for fall festivities but way to expensive, it's truly a shame that they charge so much.

A 16 minute hayride from Mr. Pepper is only $2 and the corn maze is $5 for 13 and older and cheaper/free for smaller children. They also sell other produce and snacks for cheap. Had such a fun time and definitely coming back next fall.

My husband and I came here with friends and their two four year old sons to pick out some pumpkins while enjoying our last day in Delaware. Parking was easy and they have tons of different pumpkins to choose from. I have to admit, we definitely found some nasty looking suckers, but there were also plenty of beauties to bring home. The kids loved hunting around for the best pumpkin, so it was a win regardless. You can walk through the patch to pick one you like, or they have some smaller pumpkins and super large ones already set aside in bins. Wheel barrows are there to use for your convenience. This was definitely a no frills pumpkin patch, but if pumpkins are what you're looking for than you've came to the right place! I was shocked at how inexpensive all the pumpkins were too. If you're bringing the kiddos along they also have a hay ride that runs every so many minutes. I want to say it cost somewhere between $2-5 to ride it. Definitely support local this fall and check out Mr. Pepper's!

This place was so packed and we went on a late Saturday evening, thinking all the families would be gone. Haha we were wrong. It's cool that a lot of the kids' activities are free, just be patient enough to wait in lines. There doesn't seem to be any order in terms of where to go to pay for pumpkins. There weren't any signs for prices or where to go to pay. The pumpkins were all spread out. A lot of pumpkins didn't have stems, probably due to people lifting pumpkins up by them. But overall, nice and free activity for the kids.

I'm not great at sign language but I know a bit so we spoke some. He seemed happy to find someone who knew sign language, even if I only know a little bit. He runs a small stand with some beautifully decorated/painted pumpkins! The pick your own pumpkin patch in the back was pretty much destroyed or the pumpkins were rotten. So that was a little disappointing but there was a very nice, good, selection of pre-picked pumpkins up front that you could choose from. So that's what we did. The adult corn maze was in rough shape as well but it was fun and easy to get through. As someone whose never been through a corn maze this was fun. Lol These two issues could just very well be since it's the end of the season though. So they absolutely wouldn't stop us from coming back. There was a hayride, a large slide for kids, and a hay maze for kids as well! They also had a wide variety of Gordes, miniature pumpkins of all different sizes, etc. I had wished they had more of the super tiny orange pumpkins, but again, end of season, they may have just been out. Over all we spent only $51. We got two large pumpkins, apple butter, 2 or 3 medium pumpkins/gordes, and several small pumpkins. So compared to other pumpkin patches my husband and I have been to, this was definitely very cheap and fun! The decorations are nice, it's simple, and well worth the money! They also sell a large variety of pumpkin carving kits too! So undoubtedly if we're ever in the area again around this time of year, we would come back.
