Incredible service. Best burger I've had ever. We also had the charcuterie plate and the crab hush puppies great beyond bourbons too, the Martini was so perfectly dirty.

Ribeye 12 oz.

This was a busy spot for a Tuesday. The staff were friendly and got us waters right away. They have a ton of bourbon options, which was nice. My old fashioned was very good so I had to order two. The bar and booths are pretty close together, but not overly crowded where you couldn't have a conversation. I ordered the 12oz. Ribeye and it was cooked as ordered. However, the steak was served lukewarm. I wanted to say something to the staff, but the overall experience was good and I didn't want to make a complaint. If not for that, I would have given more stars. Overall good experience and would return.

Cajun Fries and Blue Crab Hushpuppies

Randomly stopped on after a show at the Kroger center and the food and service was amazing! We grabbed at table outside in front of the restaurant to enjoy the nice weather! We had a typical girl diner full of appetizers, we had the Cajun fries and Crab Hushpuppies! We also shared an appetizer the Etoufee (dk if i spelled that right) but everything was delicious. The Etoufee was nice and spicy and full of that Cajun flavor, grab your water if you can't handle it!! Love the fries and the hush puppies were good too but i did expect to taste pieces of crab meat in them. I highly recommend Yayas Hurricane, you can only get 2 of them!

Food was really good. I got the hush puppies and the gumbo. The gumbo was full of flavor and spices. The hush puppies were crispy and had this sauce that was a little sweet. The waiter recommended this tequila passion fruit cocktail that was actually a 10/10. The ambiance is really cool and had loads of an alcohol collection.

My cousin and I stopped by here after dinner for a few drinks. Our waiter was great. He was very attentive and offered us some recommendations for drinks. Both of my drinks were recommended by him. The atmosphere was pretty laid back and cool. Will return for sure.

Best bourbon selection in the south ! Food was amazing for restaurant week. Never had a better espresso martini .

So this place has a twist on some Louisiana dishes (hint the name) and being a Louisiana girl it caught my attention. First, the hurricane. While not the traditional ingredient list you would see in a Pats hurricane, the drink was delicious and set the tone for the meal. I'll start with my con, the boudin. It was not my cup of tea but may be yours. I just wasn't a fan of it sitting in the juice from the greens or the sauce on top. The other dishes I tried were great through. It's a good restaurant if you're looking for something near downtown that has a different scene from pizza and burgers.

Lamb burger with upgraded truffle parm fries

I'd visited this spot once a few years ago for an office happy hour and had a good experience, so I decided to stop by for dinner and drinks after a long week. I sat at the bar and enjoyed some Crown and acranverry juice while waiting for my lamb burger, which was great amd prepared exactly as i ordered it. The bartenders were friendly and skilled in their drink making. Folks on either side of me ordered the etoufee, which looked great, so I decided to order one to go. I expected the portion to be a bit bigger, but it was delicious when I ate it.

Last time I was in Columbia, wanted to try this place but didn't cause it was the weekend of an SC game. This time in Columbia I tried it. The food was really good. The Blue Crab Cakes were good. The service was good. I sat at the bar. The bar was busy, but the bartenders did a good job of tending to everyone. Will be coming back.

I've always heard great things about this restaurant and finally decided to stop in for dinner. When you walk in you can tell it's a laid back vibe. If you like bourbon you'll definitely like this place. I started with an old fashioned and the boudin balls. The old fashioned was good. Boudin balls were flavorful. For entree had the chicken sandwich with a side of red beans and rice. The chicken sandwich had a good balance of sweet and spicy and the pimento cheese was a nice complement to the sandwich. Service was great. I would definitely return

Heyyyyyyyy you guyyyyyyys! Great place, we sat at the bar, great service, we had the hush puppies they were good. We then shared a lamb burger and side salad ads shrimp. Would def go back and this place is no secret it filled up pretty quick. Thanks SC for a good night! Let's eat!

CHICKEN-FRIED QUAIL
Jon L.

The food was a huge letdown. The service was good, but my ribeye steak was flavorless and overdone. The chicken fried quail was different, but all the flavor was in the breading. The meat had zero flavor. The cocktails, felt very average. Nothing really stood out besides the location. I wouldn't come back when I can get a much better steak at Cracker Barrel.

Ask the Community - Bourbon

Is bourbon family friendly?

Sure, but not like a "we have a kid's menu and high chairs" sort of place. It is a whiskey bar, but children are welcome.

Does Bourbon stop serving food at a certain time?

11 on weekdays and 12 on Friday and Saturday

Are dogs allowed?

No. Not inside. There are tables outside tho, so maybe that's the best opinion for you if you wanna bring your dogs. However, those tables are limited.

Is there a happy hour menu?

Well, they do offer a beer, burger and a shot for $12 Tuesday through Saturday which is sort of a Happy Hour special. That's $2 more than previously answered from 2018.

Do they take reservations?

No, Bourbon of Columbia SC does not take reservations - it's first come first serve.

Is this place good for Happy Hour , if not others near?

They do a great happy hour deal from 4:00-6:00 PM. $10 for a shot of Bulleit Bourbon, a burger, and a beer of your choice. Tough to beat.

The cocktails were the star of the night - ranging from $11 to $13 - both their classics and house creations were well balanced and worth trying. Table service was provided with attentive wait staff who weren't overbearing. The only miss for the night was the food. While certain items like the fries and the Brussels sprouts were great, other items like the burger and duck tacos didn't hit the mark with a burger that was too dry and overly charred and the tacos which were too gamey and could have used a some more acid. For a drink I'd certainly visit again, but would likely pass on food.

We of course had to try a slice of peanut butter cake. My husband loved it (he picked the dessert). I picked our drinks and they have an excellent drink variety. We started our meal with the queso tots and they were delicious! Wiped them out! I ordered the lobster mac and cheese and he got the philly cheesesteak. He absolutely raved about his sandwich and said it was the best he ever had. I wouldn't order the lobster mac again but it was presented beautifully. I look forward to going back and trying the mussels. I saw many of those orders coming out and definitely looked so good! Great spot to check out for drinks, desserts, and a bite!

The Wild Game Tasting Board was the star of the table perfect for sharing and trying something a little different. We also ordered the gator bites (a must-try!) and finished things off with cheesecake for dessert, which was the perfect sweet ending. Good service, Amazing Food. Bison, elk, boar, rabbit. These are proteins you don't see on most menus. The restaurant leans into a woodland theme with greenery hanging throughout the space. It borders on a bit much, but the open kitchen visible from the dining room grounds the whole experience and adds a nice touch of theater. The seating was comfortable and well spaced, perfect for a family dinner where you actually want to hear each other talk. Our server was outstanding, easily 5 out of 5. She knew the menu cold, offered thoughtful recommendations, and struck that ideal balance of attentive without being intrusive. She made the evening better. The drinks were mostly a win. Two cocktails were excellent, creative and well balanced. A third was over iced and fell flat. Minor miss, but worth noting. The food is where The Hollow really shines. The charcuterie board was a fantastic start, featuring a well curated spread of wild game meats, quality cheeses, fig, and mustard. The mains delivered across the board: salmon, elk, and bison all came out beautifully with great flavor and generous portions. The sides deserved their own applause, which isn't something I say often. The dessert menu was the one soft spot. Nothing grabbed our attention, so we ended up heading across the street to Kaminsky's for something sweet. For a kitchen that puts this much care into everything else, the dessert offerings felt like an afterthought. A couple of notes on the bill to be aware of: we were charged a few dollars for swapping a vegetable side. There was a 3% credit card surcharge that caught us off guard. When you're out with the family and the tab runs into the hundreds $, most folks are paying with a card. That's a fee I'd want to know about upfront. On the menu, from the server, somewhere visible before the check arrives. The bottom line: The Hollow is a creative, well executed restaurant with standout food and excellent service. If you're in Columbia, it's well worth a reservation.
